  1. With EJ throws at end of games, you only hear people wishing that there were flags because the accuracy of his passes are so far off that you can't expect to win the game the old-fashioned way, with actual receptions. Even his legendary win against Carolina last season required a flag to forgive his uncatchable pass to Stevie on 4th down. Orton puts these high pressure throws on the money, in the receivers hands, no flag necessary.
  2. Give some credit to Orton. It's really remarkable how when he's not getting sacked or fumbling, he has thrown some incredibly accurate long-distance passes. I'd bet that his Comp% on long throws is above average. Also, let's not forget Ed Hochuli, who's officiating crew seemed very honest and reasonable. I recall that Hockuli has always been a solid ref. He has a notable blunder mentioned on his Wikipedia, but overall, he doesn't seem as corrupted or senile as the rest of the refs are.
  3. Even before that, with 2:20ish left he called a timeout, but that seemed foolish as you'd hope to run down the clock, keep timeouts and have the last possession of the half. I don't like Marrone's style on timeouts. Both by calling when he shouldn't and not calling when he should.
  4. The healthy scratch should've been Goodwin or better yet, Gay. Marrone screwed up.
  5. TJ Graham is bound to be cut for this. David Nelson to the bench.
  6. Anyone know if that Wynn offsides is legit? Doesn't sound like it was. If you can't see it, it didn't happen! It was going to be 3rd & 2, but became 1st after Gronk dropped the pass. And who the heck is Larry Dean? That roster spot would've been better spent on Mike Williams.
  7. How about lining up Spiller in Slot and throw passes to him, while occasionally handing him Jet Sweeps? No chance Watkins ever gets a jet sweep. Is it possible to run a jet sweep to a WR that always lines up as a flanker? I don't think that works (it would have to be a Reverse.)
  8. The Bills just need to figure out who can actually cover Gronk. Duke can't even come close. McKelvin looked outmatched. Try someone else! Gilmore? Graham? Kiko?!
  9. Mario & Hughes were sidelined? Resting? I heard some discussion about this on radio. Marrone apparently pushed the blame on Schwartz saying that it was just their time to rotate out and that they thought Pats would just run it to kill clock. Either way, our Superstar Defensive Ends should be playing every snap of that drive. Marrone should know better than to let that happen. Who knows, that lack of pass rush could've been the factor that lost us the game.
  10. Walt Coleman is an expert at fixing games. There will be holding calls against both teams, but the Bills will get them on 3rd down after stuffing the play or on offense after converting the 3rd. The Pats will get offensive holding calls on failed runs that don't actually hurt them, as more downs are just more chances for more penalties against us, ie illegal contact automatic first downs on plays in which no contact is made.
  11. I would bet the house on the Bills IF the Pats didn't always get so many advantageous holding flags. This is likely the best defense Brady has ever faced with an O-line this poor. It could very well be a multi-sack blow out! But, there's always the flag effect...
  12. I thought it was a questionable catch to begin with, especially the angle facing Goodwin's front in slo-mo. It could have very well been ruled an incompletion based on many other BS no-catch calls of the last few years. The refs want to see complete control. It looked as if the Bills wanted to get a snap off as quickly as possible to prevent a challenge and to not lose the huge gain. Caldwell had to waste a timout, though I think he should have just challenged it. Glad he didn't.
  13. Pass him the ball! He's a natural pass-catching playmaker but a poor RB. That dismal block that almost led to a safety is just more evidence of his lack of RB skills. I believe he was dead last in "yards after contact" at one point last season out of all RBs in the league.
  14. I honestly don't think he made that catch. He seemed to never have control of the ball then dropped it, but nobody seemed to notice. The Bills rushed to snap the next play, prompting a Lions timeout. Caldwell should've challenged instead.
  15. EJ doesn't bother me anymore. The only reason I thought he was a bust up to this point was because of Marrone and Whaley being in complete denial about his prospects. Now EJ is where he belongs, the bench. The coaches don't seem as clueless. Sure, he underperformed what you would expect out of a 1st rounder but we can just pretend Kiko was our 1st rounder, and it's all good. EJ succeeding as a career back-up is not far fetched. Now my concern is whether or not Sammy is the bust (not that he's been BAD, but only the very best players should cost that much.)
  16. Don't take 49ers. That is Alex Smith's vendetta game. The Packers seems safe. I also like The Browns and Steelers this week. I advise against Saints because they have defensive issues and Glennon is getting into a groove.
  17. They should have just kept Fitz. Even if they kept Fitz on his hugely overpriced contract, he was still a better bargain than Kolb. He's got the brains you'd want in a mentor and the toughness to actually be ready to play and not be on IR. IMO, the chance they took on Kolb and letting Fitz go was riskier than reaching for EJ.
  18. I'll have a better idea after seeing how Orton deals with Donkey Kong Suh and my former teammate, Nick Fairley. It could be 10-6 if Orton is capable against Lions. But what if he's worse than EJ? What if he's even worse than Tom Brady?!
  19. Chandler and Watkins had weak games. Woods and Spiller were invisible. Not sure it was all EJ's fault but it once again shows that EJ can't see open receivers right in front of his eyes, and fails to place the pass accurately when he does. Passing on Bridgewater is definitely looking dumb. At one point he was considered a #1 overall pick, rated much higher than anyone in the 2013 Draft. Why he was ignored til the end of rd 1 was mind boggling. Vikings got a steal. Bills over-drafted EJ & Watkins.
  20. This is just more Schwartz stupidity. The only play Robey got burned on was an illegal pick/rub. That's not worthy of benching the guy, and Brooks wasn't out there a few times vs the 3 wr sets. It was Preston Brown on Eddie Royal. That matchup will get us killed every time. Robey is far better than Brooks. Chargers could have put up a lot more points than they did, had they actually needed to.
  21. I'm concerned that Schwartz is too slow to adjust and react. Looked very much like a Wannstache defense. WHY would Preston Brown EVER be covering a fast WR? That shouldn't even be an option. Robey was on bench many times when Chargers had 3 WR sets. Also, where was the blitz?
  22. Kelvin Benjamin didn't take any plays off, down by 4 TDs. We drafted the wrong WR.
  23. Losing patience with Gilmore especially. He's healthy so what's the excuse? He looked extremely slow out there, both in pass coverage and pursuing runs. Everyone was running by and away from him. I don't think his heart is in it.
  24. The dead giveaway is a phantom holding call on 3rd down, either on offense or defense. The Bills usually fall victim to this vs The Pats*.
