  1. It doesn't matter. He was so epically bad in the first half that anything he did in the second half is irrelevant. I have been a big EJ supporter, but now I am beginning to believe that we have nobody on this roster that can play QB in the NFL. It is going to be a very long season again.
  2. This. Obviously the OP has years of experience as a head coach in the NFL. He knows way more than Marrone about when and how to discipline his players. Pull- lease! From every account I read, Marrone did exactly as he should have done. The players, including Hughes responded accordingly and got right in line.
  3. Really, You're going to quibble about "could care less" vs. "couldn't care less"? Look it up, either way is correct. And of course it is racist, you are right. What could I have been thinking? There was a conspiracy afoot to degrade Native Americans when the original owner named the team. There had to be right? As for your third point, name the "major groups" that have spoken out against it and it had better represent every single Native American community or you have proven yourself wrong. And you didn't even address the proposed name change for the Buffalo Bills because of the questionable acitivities of that character.
  4. Actually a poll taken among native Americans showed that they overwhelmingly could care less. There are a few groups that are up in arms and of course they get all the media attention. Ditka was right, the name was chosen out of reverence for the Native American spirit. They were fierce warriors and that is what the original owners paid homage too. He isn't being a bigot. He is not prejudiced against Native Americans, he just feels, like alot of us that political correctness in America has gone too far. Should the Buffalo Bills change their name because it is offensive to the families of old cowboys and native Americans that he satirized in his Wild West shows? Where does it end?
  5. This was the first draft for Whaley as a GM. This is Marrone's second as a HC. I think Whaley has done a good job bringing in some quality personnel in trades, in the draft and in FA. Let's just see how this season plays out before we go making any sweeping changes. Too early to tell in my opinion on either Whaley or Marrone. Brandon on the other hand is up for debate. I am not sold on him one way or the other.
  6. I completely agree. There is no way to know this or even speculate about it at this point. If Marrone leads this team to the playoff, there is no way he gets fired. Way to early to be making those kinds of wild guesses.
  7. First off, it was not an "innocuous comment". The person who posted it and I have discussed it and he understands why his comment was in poor taste. Secondly there was no "aggressive overreaction". And thirdly, there was no "faux outrage", at least not on my part. I stated my opinion, which as far as I know is still allowed in this country and I was attacked for it. People can have their own opinions about pretty much everything, but the reason I kept responding is that I felt I was being talked down to by someone who felt somehow superior to me. Your post wreaks of the same mentality.
  8. Welcome to my world Matt, lol.
  9. I know it was, but I can honestly state that no other movie quotations were harmed in the preparation of my response.
  10. Thank you. C'mon Big Cat. You know it was in poor taste. And contrary to what Jauronimo has stated I don't think you're a bad person. I don't even know you personally. It was insensitive to anyone who was feeling a bit down at the loss of a man whose talent they admired. Simple as that. I didn't find it funny and I said so. I didn't expect to have a big debate about why I felt that way. For anyone who doesn't understand that, they probably never will and that's OK with me. I was just stating my opinion, not making any personal judgments. All the best to you and Go Bills.
  11. My question is irrelevant? Your answer is irrelevant. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very well thought out and logical explanations that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up some sensitivity and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to.
  12. I would be happy to let it go, but I refuse to be talked down to. BTW I think Cohen is a hell of a player too. :worthy: :worthy:
  13. Not even remotely close to being the same thing. You may as well give it up, because if you don't get it, you just don't get it. As I said previously, no explanation will suffice for you and you will stick to your opinion that it meant nothing and wasn't the least bit offensive or insensitive. You haven't proved that it wasn't any more than I have proved that it was. Do you really want to keep going back and forth like this? And by the way, it was not the "mere utterance of the word Ork". It was the context in which it was used and the time frame. Let me ask you this. If Robin Williams had not just died, do you think the OP would have made reference to Ork? Of course not. There is a line in an Edgar Winter song that very aptly describes this whole thread. "You know I've heard it said theres beauty in distortion, By some people who withdraw to find their head, And they say there is humor in misfortune, Now, I wonder if they'll laugh when I am dead."
  14. Sorry but I refuse to explain that one. If you don't get it, you just don't get it.
  15. First of all I am not outraged and it is curious to me that you think that you are "winning" this argument. Think highly of your opinion much? You don't know me and you have no idea to what level emotions impact me. I am not the least bit emotional about this issue and could really care less how you feel or think about it. Most people who think logically would have no problem finding the insensitivity in the OP. It had nothing to do with the phrase "too soon" by the way. The fact that it was too soon was blatantly obvious. It was the reference to the character played by a man who had just died. Yes I found it in poor taste and not the least bit funny. It really isn't very complicated at all. I read it, I analyzed it, I didn't find it funny and I commented on it. What about that did you not understand? For such a highly evolved being as yourself, I would think you would completely understand.
  16. And your lack of them are uglier and weaker. Care to keep playing. I can do this all day.
  17. Alright Spock you win. I have emotions.
  18. Oh really? And exactly where did I say that? In fact I said the complete opposite. I said that values are our own. You have yours I have mine. Nothing more, nothing less.
  19. My values are my values. Yours are yours. Mine are worth just as much as anyone else's and so are yours. They are our own and they belong to us. Clear enough for you? Or do I need to explain that as well?
  20. If you can't understand why someone would feel that way, then no explanation will suffice. You will never understand. This discussion has generated way more defense of a post that I thought was quite obviously in poor taste than I could have possibly imagined. Says a lot about the people on this board. You can defend it to your hearts content. My opinion will not change. I found it to be in poor taste and not the least bit funny. If you found it funny then more power to you. We have very different senses of humor and different values and we will probably never agree on much of anything. That is just fine with me and I am finished defending my opinion. It stands and will not change.
  21. Oh I"m pretty sure I know what it means. But just in case you don't, Websters defines it this way "make someone or something seem unimportant". I am quite sure I haven't done this in anything that I have stated in this thread.
  22. I guarantee you that Robin Williams would not be insensitive enough to make a comment like the one that was made immediately following his death. He was smart enough to know that it was in poor taste and would not have gone there. And it seems to me there are a lot of people on here criticizing others for taking offense at something that was truly offensive and they are the ones who are self righteous and self validating, not the other way around. I truly found the OP to be in poor taste and I stated my opinion. You are all entitled to yours as well. I won't belittle you for it.
  23. I don't think you're curious at all. I think you are just waiting for me to comment on it so you can disagree with me. You have your opinion, I have mine and we disagree. That is just fine with me. Have a nice day.
  24. And I knew as soon as I called him out that there would be people like you that would defend him. Do you know me? Have we hung out? Do yourself a favor and keep your judgemental bull **** to yourself. I stated my opinion, which is my right. I think the OP was offensive and I am not the only one.
  25. C'mon man if you can't see how referencing Mork from Ork, not in tribute, but in a mocking manner on the very day the man died is offensive, then it is pointless to have this conversation. It was in poor taste and I think deep down the OP knows it. I'm offended that you're offended that you think Jauronimo is offended because I am offended. Your move.
