The only statistic I care about is 3 wins and two losses, tied for first in the division.

Look at the replay. He caught the ball, took two steps then bobbled it out of bounds. He clearly had control before he bobbled it out of bounds. No question in my mind that it was a catch.

300 YD Passing: Orton 1 Manuel 0

Show me where I ranted against anyone. And what truth did I not admit? Care to elaborate. -
300 YD Passing: Orton 1 Manuel 0
xsoldier54 replied to Doug Flutie Band's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
But the fact remains that no Bills receiver actually did get four more yards and EJ still has never thrown for 300 yards, yet Orton managed to do it in his first game action since last December. Did you even read the rest of my reply? The 300 yard statistic is not the whole story here. It is simply an affirmation that perhaps the coaching staff made the right decision with the QB switch. It is an INDICATOR. Not sure exactly why you think it is not important at all. It certainly was a contributing factor in the win. -

Ok, but I didn't see that when I read the title of this thread. I saw a thread that pointed out that Orton passed for over 300 yards in his first game action since last December and EJ has yet to do it, EVER in the NFL. It was more of an affirmation that the coaching staff made the right decision, than an EJ sucks thread as far as I saw it. And I wasn't bitching. Quite the opposite. I was celebrating that the Bills made a good decision at QB and it allowed the team to win a very tough game on the road. I too saw a lot of bitching about Orton on this board even though the Bills won and would have had absolutely zero chance of doing so if the switch had not been made. That was MY point. -
300 YD Passing: Orton 1 Manuel 0

Orton was good enough to lead the team to a victory on the road against the #1 defense in the NFL. The Bills would have had zero chance of achieving this with EJ at the helm. And believe me, I want EJ to succeed. The fact is though that Orton did what almost nobody believes that EJ could have done. It is cause for celebration. And as for your points about receivers making good catches, at least he put the ball in a position where they could make a play on it. That's what good QB's do, they put the ball out there and let playmakers make plays. I don't need you to be proud of me, or to be right. I was just trying to understand your point and I still don't. -

Well then your point makes no sense. You can't just count wins and not count losses. -

You forgot the other half. EJ 2-2, Orton 1-0. -
At this point, does anyone think we keep Spiller?
xsoldier54 replied to Big C's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The problem with Spiller is that he lacks vision. Even when there is a hole, he either makes the wrong cut or tries to bounce outside where there is nothing. The only way to make him productive is in the passing game. Get him the ball when he's already outside and let him use his speed. I agree that trying to run him between the tackles is fruitless. -
Completely agree. Chandler looks like he has concrete blocks on his feet and he goes down immediately every time he is hit. Hard to create mismatches with a guy like that. He is being used exactly to suit his limited skill set. We still need a TE that can run after the catch. The team won and yes they "only" scored 17 points, but it was against the number one defense in the NFL. They WON the game. Relax and enjoy it, because I believe there are more W's in store with Orton at the helm instead of E.J.

End of the Ralph Wilson Era
xsoldier54 replied to Jeff Wright's Mullet's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ralph Wilson brought the Buffalo Bills to WNY and I have enjoyed them since I was six years old that first season in 1960. I have watched them week in and week out, win or lose and have enjoyed the experience of being a Bills fan. They have brought a lot of joy to myself and my family and for that I will always be grateful. God Bless Ralph Wilson Jr. and may he rest in peace. -
So even if Watkins ends up making plays like he did today for the rest of the season and helps lead the Bills to the playoffs, you still think it's a bad deal? Not me, I'll take that for sure. They needed playmakers on offense and he was the best one available. I say it's worth the gamble when you haven't made the playoffs in as long as the Bills.
-
Coulda woulda shoulda.... blah blah blah, just enjoy the win. They weren't in the game and neither was Kyle Williams. The Bills beat a very good team on the road today, so let's just enjoy it. Did you forget he was playing against the number one defense in the NFL and beat them at home? Was he perfect? No, but he absolutely made the throws when he needed to and enabled the playmakers like Watkins to make plays. He did a good job and there is absolutely zero chance the Bills win this game with E. J. Manuel at QB. I repeat, absolutely zero chance.

He should be used more as a reciever than a runnner. Let him run routes out of the backfield, but very few rushes. He just is all speed, no power. -
That was a nice check down to Goodwin that led to the TD. 30 completions for 308 yards is an average of 10.3 yards per completion. I'll take that every game.
-
Gotta put Orton in there as well. There is absolutely no way we win this game with E.J. at the helm.
-
Agreed on all points. RIP Mr. Wilson and I know that you were looking out for the Bills from above today while they were playing in your hometown. Great win.
-
I agree that things kind of evened out in the second half, but to say that this game was well called is a bit of a stretch for sure. It was absolutely horrid in the first half and totally called in favor of the home team. It got better after Marrone blasted them and then things kind of evened out, but it was still pretty bad and very nearly cost Buffalo a win.

Wow, what a turnaround. Proud of these guys for keeping on grinding when everything was going against them. Should be a great last 8 minutes or so. Let's get some points on this drive and put the pressure on Detroit for a change. Go Bills! -

This is pathetic. It was clear from the very beginning that the officials were not going to give the Bills any chance whatsoever to win this game. Just brutal. -

The officials have absolutely killed us today. If you can't see that then you are watching a different game than I am. -

We are absolutely getting jobbed by the officials today. Had them stopped and of course a penalty for an automatic first down. Why even play the rest of this game. We do not have a snowball's chance in hell of winning this game with this crew today.
