Plus the Lions have lost 2 straight
-
I think that's someone else singing and her lipsynching,... hmmm
-
Yeah,... Trent Dilfer has a SuperBowl ring as a starter. Granted that was a defense-led team, but it should put him ahead of RJ, AVP, Todd Collins, Dennis Shaw, Vince Ferragamo, Trent Edwards,... and again who was that clown who admitted that he never studied the playbook?? Not a very well thought-through list

Bills sign WR Tim Toone to practice squad
cage replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Did we have an opening on the Practice Squad or did we release someone? -
Just looking at the Game Stats on NFL.com and it paints a great picture on why the Bills are 4-1... -- #1 in Plus/Minus turnovers at +11, with ZERO fumbles lost -- #3 in Points per game at 32.8 including 3 defensive TDs. Only 5 teams above 30ppg -- #5 in First Downs/Game at 22.8 -- #26 in Penalty Yards with 199, only 6 other teams below 200 These are the stats that winners talk about and those who lose on Sunday's lament about. They should all look familiar as the complaint points of past losing season. They're on to something!! Also, while the defense is obviously doing poorly in giving up yards, they're not so bad in some other categories -- 18th worst in Points Per Game allowed, in the lower half of the league -- 17th worst in 3rd down percentage allowed, also in the lower half -- and of course they're the best at generating turnovers Plenty to be encouraged about

Not sure if you can add a poll once you start a thread, but this one would have interesting to see the consensus Fitz, Jackson, Wilson are pretty strong at the moment. Stevie and Barnett are on the cusp, but they need some more big games. We didn't see as much from Stevie after Jones went down. This is the first victory since he's been playing where he hasn't been a differentiator, but I think he's PB material with some more big games coming. Barnett is having a killer year, but could be hurt by the fact that the D is giving up so many yards. I agree with several of the others that there has to be at least one OL from the team, probably Wood or Levitre, but I'm not really sure which of them is playing the best. Good topic!

Curious to see how he'll do. He was an interesting athlete
-
Meaning?? Sheppard has replaced him as the starter?
-
Was Andra Davis out injured as well? I was just listening to Gailey's Monday presser and there was an exchange that seemed to indicate that Davis couldn't play and that's why Kelvin Sheppard was in there? But I don't seen anything in the articles about him?? Any help...

Hah,... good laugh on that one. Are you the one who keeps saying the Bills current method of winning is not sustainable? Very true, but one of the byproducts of winning is confidence which is a basis for fixing those things. So I'm hopeful on the Bills. While I can understand giving up some big yards/points on Brady and Vick, I'm betting we never let another Rookie QB like Dalton sit back there with all day to execute. I love the pressure we got on Vick yesterday, I'm hoping our D coaches have woken up and keep bringing the heat. Not that many Vicks and Bradys left on our schedule. The Eagles on the other hand, need to think about implosion. Football is such a high emotion game and when the freight trains starts to go negative bad things often keep happening, as we've seen in our own Bills in previous years.

Von Miller benched during Broncos loss
cage replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I certainly understand that Gailey is going to stand strong by his QB, who's playing outstanding. However, I'm not sure that's factually right. Its been widely reported and essentially acknowledged that Cam Newton was at the top of the draft board for the Bills. They would have picked him at #3 if he was available. I need to look back and see if I can find the article I was referring to and post the link, but don't have it at the moment. -
Von Miller benched during Broncos loss
cage replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We should thank Denver for selecting him. I saw an article a few weeks ago, can't recall where at the moment that said that the top of our draft board was Cam Newton, Marcel Dareus, Blaine Gabbert. It seems if the Broncos had selected Dareus instead of Miller we would have ended up with Gabbert as our 3rd pick, not Miller. That would have made for some differences this year,... hmmm Just to play that out with a bit more speculation, Its possible the Bills would still be doing well, but we'd end up in a situation much like the Chargers did with Drew Brees and Philip Rivers a few years ago, where he left at the end of his contract for nothing to become a superstar elsewhere because the commitment was to the highly drafter rookie... I can hear the TSW chatter now. -
I would have been going for it... that was the best shot to finish the game
-
Given your footer, I'm surprised your not pointing out that Michael Jasper is the depth everyone's looking for?!?!
-
He's shot... too many injuries. I think he'll be retired before he's 30. I hope he plays well this year, but I don't see him being a long-term option. I meant to ask,... did he get benched or pulled a bit yesterday? There seemed to be an awful lot of Batten, Sheppard and Moats on the field yesterday and I know those snaps weren't coming at Nick Barnett's expense.

When I think of our Offense, the line-up is shaping up to be around for 5+ years... QB, OL, WR, Spiller are all young and should be around a while. But what about the Defense, who is on this team now that could be the line-up 2 years out? Here's my guesses based on LDE Marcell Dareus, of course NT Kyle Williams, we just signed him long-term so he better still be relevant in 2 years RDE Alex Carrington, seems to be improving and should start by then SLB Arthur Moats, I refuse to put him on the inside MLB Kelvin Sheppard WLB ?? love him now, but Barnett will be too old by then JLB Danny Batten is he good enough? LCB Aaron Williams RCB Leodis McKelvin will he last and rally prove his value, not sure? FS Jarius Byrd SS Da'Norris Searcy would like to see some more of him By then Kelsay, Edwards, Merriman, McGee, Wilson and Davis will have all eclipsed their time (some are already there, but thats another topic) So it seem at least 3 positions WLB, JLB and RCB that are in serious question and that assumes that Carrington, Moats, Sheppard, Aaron Williams and Searcy develop as envisioned. So if the Bills are to continue to grow, then at least 3 and as much as 7 long term answers need to be found
-
Its also a matter of allowing players to grow and mature. Demetrius Bell has particularly taken abuse on this board. But he was a very raw (only played 2 years college), 7th round pick in his first couple years before. He's now in his 4th year pro, developed physically and acquired some much experience. In addition to our starting 5, both Hairston at T and Rinehart at G give us depth that we haven't seen on a Bills OL since the '90s I'm not sure how we would upgrade it? Who are you looking to replace? If you're suggesting investing a hig draft pick on OL, my guess is that it would be spent on the defense again given how it's being gouged, even by rookie QBs. First 2 picks should be the best LBs on the board

Can anyone even recall a time when both the Bills and the Sabres have had the city flying high and so excited. Just doing a brief scan of my memory, whenever the Bills have been good, the Sabres were nothing special and vice versa when the Sabres have had their bigger years. Watch out, if UB goes to a major bowl game this year, then Joe Mesi will have to come out of retirement to win the heavyweight title....
-
Isn't Aiken sitting on the Practice Squad? While we're throwing out names for fun, if they need to put someone on the active roster, I would imagine they would just promote him.
-
I was going to make a Kendra crack as well... would be nice to see her in Buffalo, but we digress
-
As much as we complain about the Levy/Jauron regime... George Wilson, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Fred Jackson, Stevie Johnson, Eric Wood, Andy Levitre, Demetrius Bell, Jarius Byrd, Drayton Florence were all their moves through Draft, Undrafted FA and Free Agency.... hmmmm. I guess they got a few things right along the way. Several of these guys coul have been easily cut or discarded as the front office changed
-
If we needed to fit someone in quickly, Antwan Randel-el jumps out at me as a guy Gailey would know well. Not sure what he has left??
-
I like these guys a lot. If they had played last week and we committed to the pass rush the same way against a rookie QB then I believe we would be 5-0 right now. Though I keep thinking of Batten as an ILB, outside?
-
Amen!

We've been pretty good at tackling ST inside the 20... I think they're going to keep doing it
