I always look at stats for the team as well as the NFL and I don't think I've every seen anything like this before. Nick Barnett is our #3 tackler, he's the only guy in our front 7 in the top 7 tacklers. Wilson, Byrd, Barnett, Scott, McKelvin, Florence and McGee in that order. McGee has missed three games to boot... http://www.buffalobills.com/team/team-statistics.html This is just wrong and no way to win. I know we invested serious draft picks the past 2 years on the defense, but I think we're going to have to keep picking on that side in the next draft as well.

Is Reggie Corner hurt? Otherwise why him over Justin Rogers??

OT: On Right Now - Buffalo Braves vs. Philadelphia 76ers
cage replied to Rubes's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Same here.... unbelievably I've been in attendance at more Braves games than Bills and Sabres combined. That fact still blows my mind! -
So if Hairston can play, does he go to LT and Levitre back to Guard?

http://www.nfl.com/voting/rookies/2011/REG/8?module=HP11_cp Congratulations for everyone who voted for the BIG man! Also check out the def jam rap about the rookies on the site above... headed to the top of the charts!

Brad Smith - Are we using him correctly?
cage replied to MClem06's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He passed in the last game against Redskins,... it was a 20-30 yd pass that resulted in a pass interference penalty. It doesn't show up in stats, but it achieved exactly the result that was planned -

I appreciate this stat, but where does it come from? -
Exactly!

Exactly,... they're giving credit to the combo of rookies. I can't even name another combination of note. They did beat us though, not sure if that would have happened if we went after QBs like we did against Eagles and Redskins. Why didn't we do that to rookie by the way??? Still has me puzzled...

Get your votes in for our man... played like a stud http://www.nfl.com/voting/rookies/2011/REG/8?module=HP11_cp

I was thinking the exact same thing in the 4th quarter, why Spiller wasn't given the carries on those last few drives

I wish him well, but we should say there are plenty from that era that are our stars today... Fitz, Jackson, Johnson, G. Wilson, D. Bell all of these guys were "not first round picks" and from the Jauron regime, yet managed to show enough that it made sense to keep developing them on the team until they're growing into where they are today. What aggravated me most about Maybin is why he couldn't at least show that he was a stud on Special Teams. Every description of him indicates that he could fit the profile of a big time special teams star. Obviously not what you draft a guy #11 overall for, but at least its a contribution he could have built from?? If he makes it in NY, it will be very puzzling why Gailey couldn't make him work here when every undrafted free agent he touches is turning to gold before our eyes.

hmmm,... does anyone have a site that shows not just our current status against the salary cap, but committed salaries over the next couple years?
-
Yeah that does feel like something!!!
-
Disagree completely,... first off, I'm not sure who among us aren't "his fans". Secondly, he's in a strangely unique situation, because of his undrafted status and late start he was an Exclusive Rights free agent longer than most, in a position that is more age-driven than most. So we was caught in highly disadvantageous contract situations. He has every right to get paid and to be the next guy up. Any of us would find it overwhelmingly frustrating to be someone who's the best in the game to be getting paid among the least and to be at the stage in his career where he is... it needs to be addressed for the team to keep growing.

I think we have to be real careful about how Fred Jackson is prioritized. I think it would turn off others for resigning if he isn't done right. I'd put him next.
-
I really want them to do right by Fred Jackson. The massive dillemma is that he's 30. I hope that they can structure a contract for him that keeps him a Bill in the long run and doesn't force a cut as soon as he begins to drop. I'd love to see a front-loaded contract where he gets paid properly now and then one that turns incentive based in a few years as he gets older. That seems the best of both worlds. With such an approach perhaps younger players like Johnson, OL and Byrd can get contracts that pay higher in the out years. They have to do him right and in a way that allows him to stay on the team in the longer run... the rest of the players are watching!

hmmm,... thats a good point!

I keep hearing it put down by the announcers. Aikman was particularly harsh... but I think it works when it needs to. Brad Smith got another first down and he threw a nice pass out of it that turned into a pass interference penalty. I think its doing what it needs to do given particular situations. It will never dominate a game the way that the Dolphins beat the Patriots the first time it was used a few weeks ago. But if its used strategically, then they should keep doing that.

Maybin has 9.5 fewer sacks than our entire D

Ooops,... yeah Barnett in the middle. Just an oversight

Why wouldn't we just play 4-3... Dareus and Williams as DTs, Carrington/Johnson and Edwards at DEs and then Moats-Sheppard-Kelsay at LB. We have more issues w/ LBs than w/ DL at this point. I have to say that I never understood the concept of 310lb DE and 300lb LBs,... it just doesn't make sense. There's no speed off the ends

I was posting about this same topic a few weeks back. There's seemed to be a decent level of "hype" or expectation that he'll be growing into something bigger this year, but we haven't seen it. I think we he was responsible for one deflected ball that turned into an interception against the Eagles, but otherwise I haven't seen him. Between Carrington, Troup and Spiller the top 3 picks of the Nix/Gailey era are having minimal impact

Fitz has agreed to 6yr 59Mill Contract

Is that response for real?? Its not a coincidence... he was brought in by Marv when he was GM because he noticed him from following Coe College is alma mater. I hope that was a joke response at this point?!?
