  1. I think it's a combination. Being on the road that long and not having your home fans boost you up is disheartening. You also don't have the same advantages of home practice and getting into a routine, seeing your family, conditioning, etc... Plus home filed usually guarantees a few less officiating calls go against you. Bad coaching adds to it, but all of these things together add up. And over the course of six weeks it makes a difference. A little more focus and energy and we beat the Eagles and Kansas City. Coaching losses go to Jacksonville (EJ included) and the NY Giants, possibly second NE game. Losing to a better team, Cincy, NE. I honestly think this was an 10-12 win team that could have hung with the top teams in the AFC. Rex screwed up the defense, but despite him we had the talent to win.
  2. ....to have to play 3 games in a row and 5 of 6 ON THE ROAD. We never even got 3 in a row at home. Here's the grind. Thu Nov 12 W 22 - 17 at NYJ RECAP Mon Nov 23 L 20 - 13 at NE RECAP Sun Nov 29 L 30 - 22 at KC RECAP Sun Dec 6 W 30 - 21 HOU RECAP Sun Dec 13 L 23 - 20 at PHI RECAP Sun Dec 20 L 35 - 25 at WAS RECAP Miami also played 3 in a row on the road but only 4 of 5 on the road total. NY or NE never played more than 2 in a row on the road. Even Tennessee who played 4 games in a row AT HOME, never had a stretch of more than 3 of 4 on the road. Can you imagine if the Dallas home game was placed in between the Eagles and Skins and the Houston home game was played before KC. We lost 4 of those five pivotal games heading down the stretch and I think the schedule contributed to the wear and tear on the players and injuries. Being on the road that long also drains on your mental state. With all of the other problems we had, I think having this kind of schedule also weighed the team down during a crucial stretch. We are the ONLY TEAM in the AFC with this grind and may be the ONLY TEAM in the NFL. I have to check NFC schedules. I believe a rule needs to be added to the scheduling committee to make scheduling more fair to all teams. The rule should state that no team may be on the road or at home for more than 2 weeks in a row. This would level the field and not create unfair scheduling practices.
  3. that about sums it up. With a tougher schedule even an improved team will be lucky to get to 8-8. I find the Rex effect hard to stomach. This was the year to step forward so we could be a consistent playoff team with a tougher schedule. I see a step back next year, unless we make some really big moves in free agency and have a solid draft. The wait is too long. i hate watching the playoffs without my Bills and the off-season is so long. I'll be there with our Bills crew rooting every Sunday but it ain't going to be easy on the stomach.
  4. My take is that we were in the best position this team has been in years and Rex blew it. With the talent on this team we should have been 11-5 and headed to the post season. It's going to take some roster magic to help this team get over the hump. Next year we have a tougher schedule. I am pleased with Tyrod's development. He truly surprised me with his ability. If he and Sammy can develop better chemistry, we may have the explosive offense we were hoping for. Clay disappointed. The defense disappointed with Darby being the lone surprise. I think Graham regressed. Gilmore needs to stay healthy and McLovin made some bad mistakes. The linebackers were bad. Brown and Bradham showed so much promise in 2014 but were poorly positioned in Rex's scheme and it cost us. The entire D-Line was woeful with the exception of a few good Hughes and Dareus plays. Mario was a no-show and we had no depth. Take #2 is that we need a better medical and conditioning staff. Ever since Rusty Jones said goodbye, the Bills have had way too many injuries. We need to get some good people in here and get healthy for 2016. If Rex learns from his mistakes and Whaley makes a few good moves, we may get 10-11 wins and the playoffs. If Rex continues the bad coaching and sticks with Thurman as DC we are looking at 6-7 wins.
  5. I always enjoy your observations Bill. Stay healthy and maybe next year we can win in spite of Rex.
  6. Best reply ever. So distinguished. I have much harsher words for Rexy.
  7. Cook is another Nassib. Early first round grades but should not be taken until the 3rd or 4th.
  8. You're probably right, but if Rex tanks with this team I can sense a serious fan rebellion. It's not even that Rex over-promised and under-performed that bothers me. It's the fact that he was stupid enough to force his dumb ass defensive philosophy into a place it clearly did not belong and wasn't working. This is the one year we had all the pieces in place to make a run and gain some continuity and this idiot blew it all up. His stubborn need to tinker with something that was working perfectly well and destroy it is what really gets to me. He should have swallowed his pride and let Schwartz run his D. Rex would oversee operations and with a Schwartz run D and Roman led O we would have had a shot at the SuperBowl this year. I truly believe it. The moment Rex forced his hand, he lost. And now everyone is paying for it, but him.
  9. My guess. If Mario plays, he does his own thing and goes after the QB getting a sack or two. He will also get exposed because he is playing for himself and give up a few big plays. Marcel comes unglued and does the same. Rex doesn't know what to do so he lets everyone run free. A close game in the first half turns into a Jets win as the offense can't keep up with the Jets scoring. NY 34 BUF 27
  10. I wouldn't mind it. Pettine had a good D here, but they got burned for a lot of big plays.
  11. I think you are right. Watch Spiller go to the Jets and run for 1200 yds, have another 600 receiving and gets 8-10 tds
  12. Kap wasn't awful when he had good coaching and a decent OC. The 49ers are a mess and his regression was a direct result of it. IMO he'd be a way more competent backup than EJ and could challenge to start. He is similar in style to Tyrod and fits Roman's scheme. I think Tyrod is better but letting Kap know he gets a legit shot to start is incentive enough to give him a 2-3yr deal and it gives us time to find the right guy to groom.
  13. Sucky thing is that Rex did get the Mulligan and so did Whaley. Will Thurman be the sacrificial lamb? Maybe, but my bet is that they are blaming this on the players and we get the roster re-shuffle. My expectations for 2016 hit a record low. Unless Retro-Football comes back, we are the dinosaurs of the AFC and our record will reflect it.
  14. I wouldn't mind seeing Kapernick brought in to compete with Tyrod. If neither can hold down the fort for 3-5 years then draft in 2017.
  15. That's my problem with clown Ryan. It's also the reason Schwartz bolted so quickly. He knew Rex had a completely different philosophy that would not work with this personnel. Rex being the stubborn blowhard he is, decided to use arrogance instead of wisdom and fight to make his system work. By giving up control, being a head coach and letting Schwartz continue to run his Defense, we would be very happy right now. We'd be resting starters in a meaningless game against the Jets with the AFC East crown on the mantel. Now we got another Christmas stocking full of **** and another rebuild on D. Sadly, I don't see a quick fix with too many holes to fill on D. I just don't see this exotic Rex package working anymore. I hope I am wrong. I really do, but my gut says the struggles on D will not be cured and the strength of this team will now be its weakness.
  16. Benjamin, Sanu, Jeffrey, Jones seem like the best options in FA. Draft another in the 2nd.
  17. I've seen him a few games and he is not going to be better than Tyrod for at least 4-5 years if ever. Tonight was big time pressure and he did not deliver.
  18. Billsfans, I am satisfied enough with Tyrod that I don't think we need to waste a first on a QB. Cook is showing he is not going to live up to a 1st Round pick. I say it's time to revamp the D. Since Rex is getting his shot, the only thing we can do is find his guys and roll with it. If the axe falls on the D again then Pegs has no choice but to give Rex the boot (personally I wish it happened this year) But to me there is no QB worth the trouble of wasting a #1 on. My draft goes #1 LB or DE (BPA) #2 DE or LB (BPA) #3 WR #4 OT #5 DE #6 CB #7 WR
  19. My heart says please win, my brain says no chance in hell. We kind of suck and have been spiraling down all year. We are down 10 starters plus Mario who makes 11 and all of the others who cashed out of Rex's crappy system and won't be back. We are in for a long ****ty ride with Rex at the helm and we probably just saw the best Bills football we will see under him which is some pretty sucky football. It's all downhill from here.
  20. They didn't need to retool the #4 defense and we got a top 15 QB and look what happened... Rex needed to have the door hit his ass hard.
  21. it's true. this year truly sucked for watching Bills football. The only positive for me was seeing Tyrod begin to develop. The defense was like watching your dog slowly die, truly sickening.
