  1. I wanted Lovie as well, but two points that make me think about this hire are an article from Don Banks about Andy Reid: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/nfl/news/20130104/andy-reid/index.html History isn't on Lovie's side either. I still wanted him, but it's an interesting point. The other point made was that a lot of 'hot' college coaches come from big time programs that get better players than their competition. Kelly, for example, get big time players and Oregon was no slouch before he got there. Marrone took crap and had some success.
  2. That story was very early this morning and since then Russ has confirmed that they have a deal in principle. Time stamped from this morning in the article itself.
  3. Just let him run with it. No need to rain on his parade. He'll eventually run into a wall and knock himself out.
  4. The staff was relieved of duties. They are free to pursue other jobs, but are still under contract with the Bills.
  5. So he's not out fielding other offers. He's agreed to a deal in 'principle' with the Bills. It's almost never heard of that a guy renegs at that point. Russ Brandon did correct it. So you're totally wrong on your post. Perhaps you should pay more attention.
  6. Out of touch. They have a deal in 'principle' which means the lawyers are checking the language and then it will be signed.
  7. How in the hell do people believe this was a marketing hire? The 'marketing' hire would have been chip kelly. Bills fans, every decisions you don't agree with is not a marketing move.

  9. I'm no sure why anyone wants to laugh at them about it either. They're trying to turn their team around.
  10. I anted Lovie too, but this article makes some good points: http://sportsillustr...d/?sct=uk_wr_a1 Retreads tend not to replicate their success. When you say right mind, do you mean just half of it?
  11. i think you're selling him short. It could be both.
  12. It would be instant change from 'This guy sucks' to 'Cleveland will win a superbowl'
  13. Exactly. A HC needs to be able to delegate and find guys that can get the job done. We'll find out what what happens with that soon enough.
  14. If suspension is lifted, I'd take Greggo as DC.
  15. An interesting note about coaching retreads: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/nfl/news/20130104/andy-reid/?sct=uk_wr_a1 Maybe this is an 'analytics' hire. The prevailing criticism was that the Bills waited too long when they hired Gailey and the 'good' coaches were gone. It's stupid to be believe definitely can't win or definitely will win.
  16. It depends of who he brings in...especially for the defense.
  17. Dalton has always struck me as Cinderella at the ball and you're just waiting for midnight.
  18. I'm not saying I don't see some big faults with the guy, but using Peyton Manning picking apart a defense as an example...well...let's just say there's a lot of examples of that out there.
  19. What are the other magic coaches (Gruden, Cowher) winning percentage against teams over .500? I'm also curious where the data on this is coming from, is there a site that tracks those stats?
  20. Man, I was reading the linebackers thread and really got my wires crossed on the names. I'm very curious how that relationship worked and how much power lovie had there.
  21. I'm wondering if anyone has any links or information on Lovie's relationship with Angelo Crowell, the former Gm. I recall reading stuff about they didn't agree on some big personnel moves.
  22. I wasn't sure if this thread was serious. I think you're filling in your emotions for rational thought. They are interviewing people. Even if they don't think a candidate is the one they want, it's a good idea to interview them. It gives you a good idea of what other candidates can offer when making a choice between the guys you do want.
  23. Are you in favor of switching back to a 3-4?
  24. How does this compare to previous coaching searches? Did the Bills hire the first candidate? Last candidate? I think this would be more a case of "It's just so quintessentially what Bills fans think of the Bills." I have a lot of doubts about each of the names mentioned for candidates and kelly is no exception. College coaches don't have the best track record on jumping to the NFL. The questions on whether his offense will work on an NFL level. If he can motivate guys making millions compared to boys making nothing, etc, etc.Given the additional challenges of overcoming the image problem the Bills have as well makes for a tough road to hoe. I know he is the current golden boy of TSW, but he has question marks as well. There is a real possibility that he is not the best fit for the Bills.
