  1. As I have said before, I believe Gailey was the best the Bills could do at the time. They weren't about to get a "name" with their current reputation. I never said he sucked, but I also never looked at him as being a god that somehow slipped past everyone else either. Hence my "mediocre" label. I have an interesting parallel ... I have friends heavily into Gerogia (the state) college football. I called them when I first heard the Bills were looking at Gailey and to a man, they laughed and said it must be a false rumor. No one in their right mind would hire Gailey as a head coach in college, must less the NFL. Anytime Satan loses I am happy. And if Gailey somehow manages to lift himself and this team to respectability I will be very happy and will certainly give him his due props.
  2. Gailey knew he was on his last leg at GT, of course he would have interviewed with the cowgirls after the steelers and phins turned him down had he been asked. But what you or I think really doesn't matter, and we will never know for sure. For about the 100th time, Gailey historically is a mediocre coach. Read whatever you need into jones not rehiring him, or why the steelers, fish, and basically everyone else passed to get yourself excited about the upcoming season. Who knows, maybe God will smile down on Buffalo and lift our coach and team out of mediocrity. The odds of that happening are better than Gailey suddenly transforming into a great coach this late in his life on his own. I for one cannot wait for the season to start so we can stop all the "jones biggest mistake ever" talk and see what we really have.
  3. It makes him and others feel better and hopeful about the good ole boys, Buddy and Chan. Jauron was THE problem, and now that THE problem has been expelled the great saviors Nix and Gailey can save the franchise. As others have mentioned, for the past 10 years (at least) every coach fired has been a worthless dumbass who knows nothing about football and every hire a football God. This includes DJ just a few short years ago. It is best just to let them be. If you look at the facts, Chan is a career mediocre coach. Buddy has only a theoretical track record to look at as anything other than a scout. Time will tell if they are successful, or 3 years from now everyone who is awestruck by the Gailey hire will turn on him like they did DJ and proclaiming the next coach the savior. Just sit back and enjoy the show.
  4. Great analogy! This summer my sons travel soccer team is getting crushed. They had a few great seasons including last year and got promoted from division 3 to division 2 this year. As you can imagine, that means the level of the opponents drastically improved instantly. From experience I knew this was going to be a tough season, and it has been. They lost their first 6 games pretty badly before winning one. And even though it has been hard, I can see remarkable improvement in both the boys, and their coaches as they all get used to their new division. It's the same for me and the Bills. After a decade of ineptitude it is unreasonable to expect the good ole boys to turn it around in 1 draft and a couple months of practice. Despite what you read here about Gailey being "primed for success in the NFL", a "proven winner" and so on, if you look objectively at his career you will see a competent coach, nothing more. So I do not expect a good season regarding wins and losses this year. But like my sons team if I see improvement in the Bills players and coaches throughout the season I will be pleased and optimistic for the future. So some may not understand how I don't like to post strictly about how the Bills are going to be awesome and a force to be reckoned with in the playoffs this season. For me it is fun to talk realistically ... good or bad ... about a team. For me it is not fun to talk in what some may call optimism, but what I call fiction.
  5. Most of all I just hope he doesn't end up paralyzed or worse because of this.
  6. I'm not saying you are wrong, but I am curious as to what makes Gailey "head and shoulders above what we've had here in a LONG time" in your eyes. You come to this conclusion from watching his press conferences? Or maybe you were a cowgirls fan for the 2 years that Gailey was the HC there? What makes Chan "the man"?
  7. New borns sleep a LOT. I used to love having mine sleep on my chest while I watched the games. Just sayin ...
  8. Geez she is 16 and looks like she is 12 you pedophiles!
  9. I agree with you. In my opinion TE is a OK backup. Now all we need is a starter.
  10. I'd guess it is due to process of elimination. People probably figure that have seen TE and they have seen Fitz. Neither is a NFL starter, so they are hoping against hope that lightning will strike with Brohm.
  11. I also thought TO behaved well while in Buffalo. I don't see anything wrong with calling out a starter who is playing like a big bag of ****. It should happen more often and maybe light a fire under some of these guys. DJ sure as !@#$ wasn't going to do it. I suspect that Chan, being old school, won't hesitate to call someone out either ... albeit privately.
  12. He would have to be an idiot not to play to win and take chances. If he wins games this season he is a genius, if he loses it was to be expected because it is a rebuild year. He is in a win/win situation. Being the first game it is possible the fins will believe what they read about the Bills sucking and come in over confident. That plus being at the Ralph makes it a reasonable thing to hope for.
  13. How about Howard? I also disagree that we have a lot of very good players. I think we have 1 terrific player (Howard), 2 good players (Dempsey and Donovan) and that's about it really. Outside of a couple good runs Altidore showed nothing (but he is young and has potential). There were zero goals from USA strikers which is a telling stat. If you want to see a team with a lot of very good players have a look down Argentina's roster The group the USA was in ended up being very weak. Both teams that managed to make it through lost in their first knockout round games. When it comes to world football, we have a LONG way to go. But the good news is that every year we continue to improve. And once the current 10 year olds grow up I think we will start to be able to challenge some of the better teams.
  14. That has always been the one constant about Buffalo Bills football. It's about time! I can't believe it took 2 pages to see this from someone!
  15. Easy. Listening to people talk about how we are going to make it to the playoffs before anyone has put a pad on just because of "positive hope" is just as lame as someone thinking we are going to go winless. There is no basis in fact for either of those 2 extremes ... at least not yet. It is very easy to get sick of either one. And in fact, based on the last ten years I'd also say that of the two, the negative person is closer to being the realist.
  16. That actually is the key point to the whole situation.
  17. Living in Rochester, I obviously disagree
  18. And sadly, you probably never will.
  19. At a party no. In a bar yes, once many years ago. And I live (and the bar was) in "white america".
  20. PigBen was never arrested or charged with anything either. Yet King Roger did not let that whole silly innocent until proven guilty thing stop him then and he probably won't now either.
  21. It's not complicated at all. Raise the price of tickets etc. such that the team can stay put without welfare. That way the people that enjoy the Bills (or whatever sports team) can fund them without burdening the rest of the state. The last thing we need is more freaking laws, just a little common sense and good old fashioned capitalism is all that is needed here. But common sense is probably too much to ask. Bottom line, there is absolutely no reason on Gods green earth that NYS should be giving welfare to Ralph Wilson. Period. I understand what you are saying and I know that it has become "the cost of doing business", but it sure as !@#$ should not be.
  22. Going to see a Bills game is free? Not the last time I checked. The game would be on TV with or without government welfare to Ralph. That happens because of a huge TV contract that Ralph shares in. That is not a parallel at all. The Bills are a privately held corporation. It is my opinion that if any sports franchise (or corporation) cannot be self sufficient and requires government welfare to stay in business, they do not deserve to be in business.
  23. Trust me, find a few drunken aholes and watch them stumble around trying to sing and dance. Funny as hell. If you are lucky they will puke or piss themselves. You will want to keep that song forever.
  24. I agree with the general point you are trying to make. But using the fact that the NYS legislature is fiscally irresponsible for spending too much money as an argument for spending 3 million dollars frivolously on a sports team at the same time the state is laying off teachers smacks of something a Albany politician would say and makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up.
