Does anyone believe he won't get over this
CodeMonkey replied to Logical Reasoning's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I saw a clip of Chan talking about that last night. Despite what anyone might think of Gailey as a head coach, no one can say he doesn't know how to mentor young players. That drop might be the best thing that could have happened for Johnson's long term career. -
They could lose the rest, but if they beat NE then I am happy. And if it ends up forcing NE to play the wildcard game, sweet frosting on the cake.
-
If there was a rule about at least 1 player from every team going, then yeah he is the one I would send.

Marquee? Superbowl? Evolving into a Peyton Manning? People, the Bills are 2-9. Woulda-coulda-shoulda means nothing. Fitz has proven himself to be a capable QB to be sure, and a NFL starter with a ton of heart. Over his career Gailey has proven himself to be at least adequate, and this year certainly a inspirational head coach. Be thankful that a team in Buffalo NY has these 2 people and the sprinkling of other reasonable quality players like Fred Jackson. With any luck (and good General Managing) they will be playoff contenders in a couple years. Don't be looking for Peyton Manning or Superbowls. Look forward to capable play and some playoff games at the Ralph.

That may be a bit premature and I do not think many players from 2-9 teams go to the pro bowl. And I also doubt many defensive linemen from teams ranked 32 against the run go either. But he certainly is having a good season so far.
-
And Peterson if not out, is wounded.
-
I wasn't really going for the "no harm no foul" thing. Just noticed that Fitz did not react like a guy who got hit in the head is all.
-
Don't remind me!

On this board anyway. Sneak a peak at a Steelers board I hear what you are saying. But look a few seconds later on that clip when they show Fitz getting up. Does he look like a guy who just got hit in the jaw by the helmet of a unblocked NFL linebacker? He doesn't put his hand to his jaw even once, or shake his head or act the least bit dizzy. He is hurting to be sure, after all he just got run over by a freight train. But a head hit I would have thought would have been a lot more devastating.

That is excellent advice. I hope someone gives it to him.

I agree. Another good choice by Gailey. He started the year slowly in my opinion, but he is finishing strong.

The Vikings are going to run down our throat.

I think he would need to have his leg amputated not to play. He is going up against the last ranked run defense at home. This has got "stat feast" written all over it as far as he in concerned. I contend that they only scored 3 points in the second half because they started throwing more. Run worked great in the first half + playing a team horrible against the run + PigBen gimpy + Windy = Throw the ball more in the second half That math seems off to me. It buys me that if you give any team, much less a team with no quit like the Bills, reason to believe they are still in the game, then they will get back into the game. They should have continued to run the ball down our throats with the occasional pass when the Bills stacked the box. Pretty simple. Oh, and not just "almost lost the game". They should have lost the game. Between the Johnson drop and Leodis tripping over his own man during the kickoff return, the Steelers had no business winning that game. -
No helmets (or pads in general) is one reason why you see very few serious injuries in rugby. But when's the last time 70 thousand people went to a rugby game.
-
Wow WOW. I didn't think I'd see any Bills homers complaining about the officiating this game when if anything, it was biased FOR the Bills. But complaining homers are everywhere as witnessed by some Steeler homer posts:

So the last ranked run defense suddenly figured out how to stop the run only to relapse in OT. -
Maybe I'm blind but at 31 seconds it looks to me like Fitz's head is still looking forward and Harrisons helmet is in Fitzs chest. Maybe it slid up into Fitz's chin after, I can't tell from that clip. But just after that, showing Fitz getting up he sure doesn't look like a guy who took that kind of shot to his chin. Anyway I agree that to the chin or the chest, hits leading with the helmet are a bad thing and should be outlawed completely.

Yeah and they switch to a pass centric offense in the 2nd half. Still scratching my head over that halftime "adjustment". Another interesting stat: Penalties Steelers: 10-107 Bills: 4-20 10 freaking penalties, and big ones too! That was what put the Bills in a position to win in my opinion. For once you don't see many people complaining about the officiating, and for good reason! -
Big Ben??? Bull ****!

More Steeler Fans than Bills Fans
CodeMonkey replied to coldstorage5's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
By all reports, there were 30-35 thousand steelers fans there. That has little to do with the Bills selling tickets to steelers fans. That many comes from Bills season ticket holders selling their tickets to the game. -
Bingo.
-
I agree with you, it certainly appears to be that way. Is that officially the rule now? If not, maybe they should clearly state it that way and be done with it.
-
The obvious thing is that if he intended to hit Fitz in the head, he would have. And with basically an unimpeded run like he had, even iron man Fitz would have not gotten up. It looked to me anyway that he lowered his head to hit Fitz in the chest with his grill. Even that would have kept a lot of QBs on the ground. Gotta hand it to Fitz for popping right back up. He is a tough SOB if nothing else. Like I said earlier, interesting to see how the league sees it.

Sick of hearing that there is no talent on offense
CodeMonkey replied to bkc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well you can also say fans of a team tend to see more than is actually there as well. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder so to speak. My "casual fan" opinion is that this is a group of average talent that is playing their hearts out for their coach. Nothing more, but certainly nothing less either. Not "bums" by any stretch of the imagination. -
Is there a worse TV Analyst than ...

Hard to fathom someone worse than Tasker, but I have to agree with you. -
James thinks he got screwed. I have to agree. I know the officials are bending over backwards to protect QBs these days, but that looked like facemask to the chest to me. I don't think that is illegal, at least not yet. And the official was looking right at it from what looked to be a good angle and threw the flag without hesitation (almost reaching for it just before the hit). Tomlin looked like he was going to blow a gasket after looking at the replay. I think Harrisons reputation preceded him on that play. Interesting to see the leagues response.
