Vince Young Cut By Buffalo Bills
CodeMonkey replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tavaris Jackson is a similar type of QB to VY (although hopefully much more skilled), so it makes perfect sense that VY would go immediately. -
Official "Dinner's On Me, Smartass" Update Thread
CodeMonkey replied to IDBillzFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd say to keep it closed. Early predictions are what makes it fun. -
I was at the game so I had to wait until yesterday to get a good look on TV. In my opinion the only offensive starter that looked good was FredEx. Several others looked OK, and the rest looked like they still needed a lot of work. And God help the Bills if any starters get hurt this season. With few exceptions, the backups look terrible. Not much time left until the opener and the starters probably won't see much work against the Lions. So we will see how much they improve and what Gaileys megamind plan is for the season. Some good news is I watched the first 3 quarters of the Jests dress rehearsal yesterday and they made the Bills look like superbowl contenders by comparison. Can't wait for Sept. 9 to get here so we can get past all the "preseason is meaningless; no it isn't" stuff and know for sure just how much the Bills have improved. Because you know for a fact they will be bringing all they have against the Jests.

Bills to acquire Tarvaris Jackson

People have now seen how much VY has outright sucked and have nightmares about Fitz being hurt and either VY or Thigpen starting games. -
Bills 2010 Draft... really terrible
CodeMonkey replied to HeHateMe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Spiller makes himself look bad by turning toward the sideline as soon as he sees an opposing jersey. That isn't going to work in the NFL and he has certainly proved that so far. If you notice, FredEx keeps it going north and even if he only picks up 2 or 3 yards, that's better than a consistant -1 or no gain by going sideways. As to your last line, I'm not sure how to respond as I don't believe I ever blamed the Bills sucking the past 2 seasons solely on Spiller. I just contend that the Spiller pick has not been a good one, much less a great one so far. -
Bills 2010 Draft... really terrible
CodeMonkey replied to HeHateMe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The problem with him isn't his stats. Sometimes the O line would make a seam and Spiller would be 20 yards down the field before the D even knew what the hell was going on which was always fun to watch and (rightly so in my opinion) gives fans something to be hopeful about. But the next 3 or more carries he would run towards the sideline for no gain. So for those 4 carries as an example, his YPC would be 5 (even more if the initial run was more than 20 yards). But that doesn't do much to sustain a drive. Spiller has explosive speed, but until he learns how to use it properly by going north instead of east/west consistently it isn't going to do the Bills much good over the course of a game or season. Maybe this is the year he finally is able to put it all together. All Bills fans should hope for this. I certainly am! -
Bills 2010 Draft... really terrible

i always scratch my head when I see stuff like this. He sucked complete and total ass his rookie year in every way that it is possible for a RB to suck ass. The last half of last year (his 2nd) he ran a bit better. Tried on occasion to go north instead of east/west which was great to see. Both years, and so far in this preseason, he still cannot pick up a blitzer to save his (or Fitz's) life. By all accounts he is a nice kid with a great work ethic and has great speed. But so far that has not translated into anything even remotely "special". But you are right to say he still could. I'm pulling for the kid to have a breakout season this year, which a RB sure as hell should be able to have by year 3 if he is ever going to, But no freaking way, in my opinion, can anyone say picking Spiller as his first pick as the Bills GM was great so far anyway. -
Is the rebuilding project over in Buffalo?
CodeMonkey replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As they played for two very different teams up until now that really isn't a great barometer. Watching them both in camp and in the preseason games so far VJ has impressed me with his running ability and raw arm strength and nothing else. I don't think Fitz (as much as I like him) is the long term solution either mind you, but VJ thus far has shown me almost nothing. -

I have seen nothing in VYs entire career to date that leads me to your conclusion. He is better than Thigpen which puts him on the 53 man roster, but being better than Thigpen isn't saying much. -
Comments from Gailey, O-line: cause for concern?
CodeMonkey replied to Rivermont Mike's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yup, which is why I am looking forward to tomorrow night. If they don't show up in that game the chances they will for week 1 in NJ are somewhere between slim and none. Personally I saw improvement from the first game to the second, particularly in the offense. I fully expect the offense to look like the offense of last season tomorrow night. -
Yes hammer does accommodate them. He doesn't hate on people because they did not have to good fortune to have Bills fans as parents.

Oh come on you guys, he obviously just chugged a gallon of koolaid and is getting fired up for the dress rehearsal game Saturday

I agree. This game will be a very good indication of exactly how much the Bills have improved over the past 2 ChaNix teams. No more valid excuses. -

That would be very scary for me as a Bills fan if these professional athletes at the NFL level need that to motivate or focus them. -

Group 2 for me. I think the offense needs the same kind of love Nix showed the defense this past off season. -
Kids day game Saturday is sold out

Are you going to the game Saturday?
CodeMonkey replied to covac23's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Normally you could just go and pick up a nearly free ticket in the parking lot. Probably no so this year being the Steelers. -
One game at the Ralph (assuming the team scores a TD) will show you no.

Kids day game Saturday is sold out
CodeMonkey replied to CodeMonkey's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mr. Wilson had no intention of leaving Buffalo the last time so it those terms did not matter to him. He and Brandon would both have to be idiots to not have an escape clause in this one in the case of new ownership. They are not both idiots. -

The lease is the linchpin to deciding if the Bills stay in Buffalo or not? You never heard of anyone breaking a lease before? The new owner(s) will be shelling out close to a billion dollars for the team. Do you think they would give a rats ass about a piddly fee to break the stadium lease if they think it is in their financial best interest to locate the team somewhere else? And even that assumes the new owners don't have the NFL pay any fines as part of the sale agreement. -
Kids day game Saturday is sold out
CodeMonkey replied to CodeMonkey's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i'm not sure if it sells out every year or not, I tend to think not. But there is always a very large, fun, and well behaved crowd of Bills fans young and old there with fireworks after the game. This year should be interesting as I'm thinking a fair amount of the people will be Steeler fans. Say what you will about Brandon, but between training camp and the kids day game he is certainly doing a great job grooming the next generation of Bills fans. Not an easy task given the adult nature of regular season games. -

CodeMonkey replied to CodeMonkey's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know what you mean. Last year I paid about $40 for 6 lower bowl sideline seats. This year I paid well over $100 for 5. NO MORE STEELER KIDS DAY GAMES! -
Just got the text from the Bills. When is the last time a preseason game sold out 3 days before the game Anyone know how Steeler fans usually are? I'm going to be there with my family and am hoping to have our usual good experience. By and large Bills fans respect kids day. But I wouldn't expect Steeler fans to even know it is kids day.

Would You Trade Any 3 Bills Players for Andrew Luck?
CodeMonkey replied to Boludo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Generally no. But in this case, for Brady 2.0, yes.
