Sweetest words I've heard out of Training Camp
CodeMonkey replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Gailey is obviously more astute than I am but I can't tell if anyone dominated from only half speed drills. Merriman showed up at the kids autograph tent the entire time according to my kids so the ankle can't be too bad. -
PRESSURE to win in 2012
CodeMonkey replied to You herd it hear last's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Only 2 ways I see Gailey getting fired after this season. 1) Abysmal record (5 wins or less). Though Chan could receive a stay of execution even in this case with the tried and true Bills excuses of injuries, bad breaks, and refs hating the Bills. 2) Mediocre record (6-8 wins) with clear evidence that coaching mistakes were to blame for several losses. Otherwise I can't imagine Mr. Wilson not staying the course. -
Official Training Camp Thread

No. I'm sure he is waiting for the only meaningful drill at camp for that ... the one where the QB's try to throw the ball into garbage cans from about 10 yards away -

CodeMonkey replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All 3 Rochester places were out of tickets last night. Verizon guy was saying he never saw tickets go so fast before. Must be a lot of people who cannot make the day practices that want to see the shiny new D ! -

Can Fitzpatrick be an upper echelon QB?
CodeMonkey replied to Billsrhody's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Flacco is probably one of those guys that some will think of him as elite and some not. The only thing elite about Sanchise to date is his paycheck. -

Can Fitzpatrick be an upper echelon QB?
CodeMonkey replied to Billsrhody's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wouldn't necessarily blitz constantly under that situation either, and here is why. A constant blitz strategy is high risk/reward. It can hang defensive backs out to dry, particularly when done too often. And in that high risk situation if you get burned, you tend to get burned big. Blitzing often can shut down a rookie QB, but it can just as easily lead to multiple quick touchdowns as well. A 14 point lead in the 2nd half and I might be inclined to make sure I don't give up and long quick scores as well. -
Damn too bad you didn't post yesterday before I went and got the pair for spillertime. I won't be able to go again until Tuesday. If no one else can do it, send me a PM monday.

Yeah that describes every pizza I've had in Italy. Never been to Sicily though. It's not bad, just like you said, not what most Americans consider pizza to be. Plus when you add a nice espresso after it's all good All the makings for a great weekend. -
How will CJ Spiller touch the ball in 2012?
CodeMonkey replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Spiller, in 16 games, had 107 running touches and had an average of 5.2 YPC. FredEx, in 10 games, had 170 running touches and had an average of 5.5 YPC. When Jackson was in the game, he was expected to run and defenses keyed on him. With Spiller in the game the emphasis was on passing, so defenses were not keying on him at all. Much easier to get a higher YPC under those circumstances. Spiller did look better as the season progressed, but he still tried to dart to the sideline at the first sign of resistance far too often. That is why my hope is that he will be able to be an effective weapon this season. He showed enough last season to give some hope of that. But by no means, in my opinion anyway, did he show that he for sure could be effective running the ball on a regular basis. -

CodeMonkey replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't care what the percentages are. I just want Spiller to be improved enough and effective enough, finally, so that Gailey will let him touch the ball more than to just give FredEx a breather. -

Italy???? Most Americans wouldn't even recognize what you get there as being pizza. Pizza was born in Italy, but what we get here as pizza is an American invention. -
Newsflash Mr. County Executive
CodeMonkey replied to Logical Reasoning's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Won't happen while Mr. Wilson is the owner for 2 reasons: 1) The Bills have a low number of season ticket holders, Given the current Buffalo economy. a PSL would drive that number even lower. Probably considerably lower. 2) Everyone knows Mr. Wilson has not carried any debt on the team for a long time. A PSL would be viewed by the public as strictly a greedy money grab and nothing more. However, once new ownership takes over and they do have a (probably significant) debt load I'm sure they will consider everything, including PSL's if they think it would be profitable for them. -
You and I differ greatly when it comes to the value of things like ""hard to win" culture to an "expect to win" culture". My opinion is if any player or coach does not always expect to win they should get the !@#$ off the team. In my opinion that "culture" theory doesn't amount to one more win much less in and of itself making the Bills contend for anything. As far as the 2 good off seasons, I agree. Particularly this last one. But I still think Nix needs one more kick ass off season in order to contend. He needs to do for the offense what he did for the defense this past off season. If that happens then watch out! But I would love for you to be right and have us all watching the Bills play in February

Those NFL prognosticators you speak of are well aware of the offseason moves by the Bills. But unlike hardcore Bills fans, they tend not to see the world through red and blue colored glasses. The Bills have sucked for more than a decade. Most impartial observers would tend to believe it will take more than 1 or 2 good offseasons to contend in a conference that contains the mighty Pats*. That's why they have doubt.

That is different to how they are made in Rochester (at least the places I have been to). Here they use a traditional gas fired pizza oven and no pan at all. It just goes right into the oven. Maybe the places in Buffalo really are a bit thicker crust than here after all and that's what requires the pan. Interesting. Guess I'm going to have to try it sometime. Any particular places, close to 90 preferred, that are recommended? And as a side note, suddenly I'm hungry -
Newsflash Mr. County Executive
CodeMonkey replied to Logical Reasoning's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's not that he is out to specifically screw the county. His job is to make the Bills, as a corporation, as profitable as possible. So therefore in this case his ultimate goal is to have the Bills pay as little as possible (ideally nothing) and still get all, or at least as many stadium improvements as possible. And it is the job of the politicians at the state and county levels to spend as little money as possible on the stadium. And that's what is happening with all the back and forth between all parties you are seeing now. It is not Russ Brandons job to worry about the counties bottom line. His job is to worry about the bottom line of the Bills. To imply that Brandon is going to play softball with the county and spend more of the Bills money than he has to simply out of the kindness of his heart and because he is from WNY is naive in my opinion. But I am cynical by nature when it comes to businessmen and politicians. -

I have never had pizza in Buffalo, maybe I should try it sometime. But I generally get wings when I'm there. But pizza in Rochester is thicker than NY style and thinner than deep dish which seems to be what you are describing. But it's just called pizza, not Buffalo pizza. -
Newsflash Mr. County Executive
CodeMonkey replied to Logical Reasoning's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nonsense. Russ Brandon will do what is best for the Buffalo Bills and only the Buffalo Bills because that is what he is paid to do. He could be from WNY or Western China, it doesn't matter. Yes and that's really the root cause of the problem. If Mr. Wilson owned the stadium and property the issue would be settled and the taxpayers (even ones who live on the other side of the state) wouldn't be getting fleeced. -

Do they actually call it "Buffalo" pizza? In all the places I have traveled I have seen NY pizza (thin like others have mentioned), Chicago (generally deep dish), and that's it. Everything else is just generically called pizza. The exception being pizza with wing sauce, chicken, and blue cheese like they have in Rochester at wegmans which has the word Buffalo in it. Buffalo wings yes, including some in Cali made with teriyaki sauce which was different but not bad. But not pizza. -

Toughest guy in the NFL in my opinion is Ryan Fitzpatrick if he really had broken or even fractured ribs last season. I have had cracked ribs and it is painful to even take a deep breath. However I saw Fitz not only running, but putting his head down trying to make a running first down several times during the remainder of the season. With cracked ribs that would be off the charts painful. Unless pain blockers have made a quantum leap in the last 10 years, Fitz would absolutely be the toughest man in football.
