From the sounds of it I'm not sure who had more fun, you or your son I have always been impressed with how the Bills organization and players go out of their way for kids. I agree that the rest days would be a bad sign. But I would prefer him not participate in any contact in camp and only extremely limited preseason action. It's not like he is a rookie, and I'd rather have him a little rusty but at 100% when the games count for as long as he can go rather than him getting nicked up or worse in meaningless practices or games.

This a million times over. I have had DTV, Dish and now have cable. This cable box is the worst POS ever. Slow hardware and very buggy software. The first few times I had problems and called tech support, their answer was to unplug the cable box for 5 min then plug it back in (then wait 10 minutes for it to reboot). Now I don't even call anymore. When it !@#$s up I just power cycle it. Complete crap.

No I don't bet on football games (much anyway). No fantasy football either. I suspect the hardware for your ribbon wouldn't cost too much. Getting a data feed for it might though. I imagine a program could be written fairly easily to get updated information from a website such as ESPN and have the computer hooked up to your scroller ribbon. That would make a nice man-cave addition

They have those big laminated color coded sheets now. I suspect using that would be quicker for them then trying to type something in. Plus dropping that sheet isn't going to cause problems

I cannot watch any game but the Bills anymore unless it is recorded and the commercials and halftime stripped out. After doing that a few times it is difficult now to even watch the Bills game live. Just too damn much dead time. I may well record the Bills games and watch them after the fact this season. Hmmm. Which means I could tailgate at the Ralph go home and watch the "cleaned up" game after. That could work.

You can get centre ice from any provider. It is only the sunday ticket that DirectTV has exclusive rights to in the US. I really wish the NFL did not recently renew that contract and allowed all the providers to carry the ticket. All the other sports do. Canadas satellite provider (Bell ExpressVu) also offers the sunday ticket.

Nix does not like to trade up, and I think trading down would give him horrible nightmares. After his first round pick the previous year could not find the field that season, he could not afford a whiff that year. And for the cherry on top, the Bills needed significant help on the DL. It was 100% a "given" pick in my opinion.

That's how I saw it as well. I saw no offensive genius out of Gailey. I hope to see some this year though, or at least some kind of willingness to adjust. Plus if the new QB coach can help Fitz become more accurate that would be a huge help.

Everyone in the world who cares about the NFL knew who the first three were going to be that year. The only question was the order. The Bills picked third so they took whoever was left. I like the pick of course, but don't make it sound like a fantastic decision on the part of Buddy Nix. My kids could have made the Bills first pick that year. To evaluate Nix's first round picks you need to look at the non-givens. Like Spiller and Gilmore.

The only other options that I am aware of are: 1) Watch an internet stream. Several different sites, but all of them are at best below standard definition television in terms of video quality. Will get you through for the occasional game (say blackout games in WNY), but not what you want for a steady diet. 2) Get a satellite dish (a bigger one than you have for DTV)and pull the network feeds in yourself. More information here. Works great with HD video. Plus you see whats going on there while the rest of the country watches commercials. Expensive to start up and generally low wife acceptance factor due to the larger dish on your property. 3) Go to a place with the ticket and is willing to watch the Bills game. 4) Bend over and take it from DTV.
