I was thinking that too. I suppose we will know the Bills have turned the corner when we stop hearing that phrase in every other thread.

Jeff Tuel ... was a steal!
CodeMonkey replied to SPILLERmadeUmiss's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Based on the reaming Marrone was giving the center, I believe the fumble was on him. -
Skip Bayless on EJ's 2-minute drive
CodeMonkey replied to BillnutinHouston's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This makes no sense. Why would they do that on his first professional 2 min drill, and why would they not want him to practice a normal 2 min drill instead of something that may happen once during the season. -
Enough QB talk, how about Goodwin!

How many WRs can a team carry?

I imagine that teams looking for WR depth will be watching the Bills cuts closely. -
I See No Reason To Temper Enthusiasm

I love it how "optimists" do this when "pessimists" politely make their opinions known, but B word to high heaven when the reverse happens. It was a good showing to be sure, particularly by the scrubs who thoroughly thrashed the colt scrubs. I was particularly impressed with Tuel. But I'm not willing to make superbowl reservations any more than I would be predicting 0-16 had they looked bad. -
Changed Expectations for this season?

Jeff Tuel ... was a steal!
CodeMonkey replied to SPILLERmadeUmiss's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly. However he hit receivers in stride and generally looked impressive. To me he looked better than EJ, but EJ was playing against the Indy starters (of course he was playing with the Bills starters as well, which is an advantage). I saw Tuel early in camp and figured he wouldn't even make the practice squad. I was very pleasantly surprised today. Can Marrone go with 2 rookie QBs? -
I agree. What could possibly be the NFLs prpblem with that?

As I said in my original post, it was on local (Rochester) radio, no video to see. That radio station broadcasts from there pretty much the duration of camp every year. I just happened to stumble on SJ talking to them driving to work. If you scroll up a little, it looks like jaybee heard it as well. They asked him specifically about "why so serious" and his other antics and asked which one cost him the most money, and if Marrone had talked to him about that kind of thing at all. It did not seem like he was joking around about coming up with something that he hopes would catch on among Bills fans. I don't think there is a problem either.

Why not a quick dance on the sideline and not delay the game instead. Football games have so much dead time in them already I'm all for getting rid of the unnecessary time wasters. Plus its not just endzone dances. Almost every play has someone dancing and prancing because they caught a ball or made a tackle.
-
That's what the man said. Said he hoped people would get used to it and do it themselves in the stands, so he plans on doing the same thing every time. Personally I don't care if he hires a choreographer to design his dance move, just so long as he stops the dumb-ass crap that hurts the team.

SJ13 was on local Rochester radio this morning on my drive into work. Some of the highlights were: 1) Not even making the trip to Indy. Not an indictment of his injury, just does not want to risk missing the first real game. 2) He is working on a celebration dance (his word not mine) that he will do after every touchdown. 3) There will be no more "why so serious" moments from him. Says he recognizes they hurt the team. Says Marrone did not say anything to him about it. 4) Focusing on making the playoffs this season.

NFL to examine quality of preseason, lower ticket prices
CodeMonkey replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Here is my elegant solution. No preseason games at all. If teams want live play prior to the season start, arrange scrimmages with each other during preseason. -
NFL to examine quality of preseason, lower ticket prices
CodeMonkey replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We go to the kids day preseason game every year and the most I have paid for tickets is $8 for lower bowl, with the exception being last year when some scheduling bozo made that game against the Stillers. Stillers fans were buying up the tickets and I had to pay $15. Got this years for $6. It does take a lot of nerve on the part of the NFL in my opinion to charge anyone full price for preseason games. And giant brass ones to do that to your life blood, the season ticket holders. -
Damn man you are fast. I haven't even gotten a verbal report from my family yet

Bills vow Doug Marrone will make them winners
CodeMonkey replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The way the NFL goes out of it's way to achieve parity among teams, one would have thought 13 times was impossible. No you are basically correct. Being a marketing man he won't, as you stated, say anything negative. So if he won't say anything negative, how can you take it too seriously when he says something positive? This isn't just Brandon I'm talking about, but anyone in sales or marketing .... particularly successful ones like Brandon. As an example, when all of the car companies in the world put ads on TV stating that their particular car is the best thing on the market. Are they all? Ads come from marketing guys people (no reason to be sexist ). -

CodeMonkey replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I guess it isn't simple, or you are just being obtuse. But I will try once more. I do not know what Brandon thinks. Either do you I assume. But your assumption that Brandon thinks Marrone will be a good coach is logical and is probably true. But no matter what he thinks, he is only going to make statements that help ticket sales, not hurt them. That's what he gets paid to do, make Mr. Wilson money. So when you hear a marketing person talk like that, it really doesn't mean much. That is my only point. I am saying nothing about what Brandon really thinks because I have no idea. -
League to Crack Down on Celebrations, etc.
CodeMonkey replied to uncle flap's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If they want to dance like sugar plum fairies just go over to the sideline and do it. I don't see any problem with this. It can still happen, just over on the sideline. -

Nice report! Also nice to hear EJ did not tuck it and run. Very encouraging!

I never said that Brandon selling tickets is a bad thing. That's his job and he has been damn good doing it. Simply stating my opinion that when marketing boy Brandon makes a statement this his shiny new coach is going to take a team that has been bad for 13 seasons and turn them into winners, it is a PR statement to sell tickets. No more, no less. Pretty simple actually. -

I have no idea what he thinks. But regardless of what he really thinks, what you hear are things that will sell more tickets (that's his job after all). -
Bills vow Doug Marrone will make them winners
CodeMonkey replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When someone non biased and knowledgeable says they believe the Bills will be good (or bad) to me it has some meaning. When the head marketing person for the Bills says he believes that his new coach is going to turn the team into winners I think it is 100% marketing BS. Nothing. Someone has to do it. I was just stating my opinion that Brandon making that statement is nothing more than selling the team.
