Here's how we save the Bills if they're sold to JBJ
CodeMonkey replied to ThurmasThoman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You think NFL fans across the nation will stand behind Bills fans to the point of a boycott of their own teams? Agree to disagree here Would they make some noise about being displeased, I wouldn't be surprised if a fair amount did. But not support or watch their favorite teams, uhhhhh no -

They showed him at SJF today on the news here tonight. Not with the team, just doing conditioning with a coach with him the entire time. He didn't look any heavier to me than last season. So at least he doesn't have to drop weight, just get fit. -
It can do no harm to have him in the Bills fans corner. Just not a lot of good other than getting press coverage, which he is good at. In order for it to be a bargaining chip, it has to be a possibility or at least the other parties in the negotiation need to believe it is a possibility. Do you seriously believe that even Schumer himself would risk killing the NFL for the city of Buffalo much less the other politicians he would need? I certainly do not. But as you said, we can agree to disagree.

Oh good lord, not Chuckles again. So Chuckles is going to, singlehandedly vote to end the NFL exemptions. Oh wait, he can't. No problem, all he has to do is convince enough politicians, who need to get re-elected at some point,, to kill the top sport in the United States. Yeah no problem there. And Chuckles needs to get himself re-elected as well. I don't think his actions would be very popular in the rest of the state, particularly in the NYC region which he needs to carry. The reason it isn't emphasized more is that it is ludicrous to think he could pull it off, even if he wanted to.

Just got a notification about my seasons...

Oh, well they could if they had a strange desire to give stubhub money for no reason. What I was/am saying is there is no need for stubhub to transfer tickets safely/securely anymore. Now it may still be a convenient way for people to advertise them for sale I suppose if it was worth the stubhub service charge. EDIT: Well unless everyone gets hardcopy tickets like Chevy -

Right that's what I mean. Stubhub is now out of business when it comes to Bills (and any other team that uses this system) ticket reselling. NFL ticket exchange probably will still work? The NFL gets a big taste of that I'm sure as opposed to stubhub. -
Damn man, that's not bad at all!

Really nothing for them to handle, right? You are given a card, and the NFL/Bills allow you to transfer your tickets for free. Game over. Unless they are trying to figure out how to handle the loss of revenue -
Not sure about 1.5 or even 1.2. It is a sellers market for sure in that there are a lot of individuals and groups interested. Probably far more than we are even aware of. But on the other hand, the team IS going to be sold and they know it. It's not like someone is going in trying to get a team out of an owners hands by overpaying. Consultants such as Goldman Sachs are going to advise their clients on the actual value of the franchise as well as their opinion of the current market value. If, as some suggest, the team will not be sold to anyone who doesn't swear an oath in blood that they will keep the team in WNY, that would really push the value of the franchise down as the new owner would be stuck in the Buffalo area instead of a more lucrative market or even having the option of moving to a different market to use as leverage in future negotiations with the county. I have no more of a window into this than anyone else here, but I don't care who you are, 600 million (difference between 900 mil and 1.5 B) is significant. Even the great and powerful Pegula.

I suspect they will be keeping him away from the press for a few days at least. -
I appreciate your sincerity. And I will admit this makes more sense than trying to block the peace bridge. But are the publishers of this Grosse Point paper going to publish letters sent about the Buffalo Bills? Who there besides Mrs. Wilson gives a **** about the Bills? Plus you think the Trustees are being coerced by, or even influenced in the slightest, by what Jaws, ESPN, or anyone else has to say? Take a breath, step back for a minute and reevaluate. It can be difficult to accept when there is nothing you can do to influence a situation that you care about greatly. But that's where we are.

Thanks for that disturbing visual.

God, I hadn't realized that. -

Not to mention big versus small market (ignoring GB, they are just an anomaly) and an economy that is not in the toilet. -
You aren't fooling anyone. You would move the team to your town! That's an interesting concept though, assuming the team turns enough profit a year to cover the mortgage payments!

There are a lot of people willing to sit outside in the Buffalo winter in the snow, freezing rain, subzero temperatures, etc. I'm not sure it is reasonable to expect to come up with 70,000 of them though. -

Future expansion? When the time comes, they would already have experience in NFL ownership. And it's not like the team would lose money or go down in value, even in Buffalo. -

And raising ticket prices 60% or 70%. Neither is likely to happen, particularly when they suck.
