Bills looking at options after snowstorm Slams region
CodeMonkey replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As was his father. But the guy running against him was even a bigger d bag. -
No, they do not. It just can look that way when you are a hard core fan of a team and they lose a lot.
-
It's the Bills fault to some degree. Roads closed of course is the proverbial "act of god". But no dome in western NY is all on the Bills. My wife asked me seriously last night why they didn't just move the game to "NYC". I almost smacked her That is a very good point that I hadn't considered.

The "experts" take week 12 - Jests at Bills
CodeMonkey replied to CodeMonkey's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Updated with Nate Silver information. -
It's totally rigged. You don't think 6 feet of snow fell on the Ralph and nothing where the Jests practice is a coincidence do you?
-
Apparently they are hiring people for snow removal at the Ralph. In addition to being paid, you get tickets to the game Sunday
-
Why do you equate not thinking the Bills are going to beat good teams with not supporting the team? I never understood that line of thinking. Even if they don't think the team is good enough to beat Denver or the cheaters and even with the snow-pocalypse, the fans will still be there supporting the team. Don't be so one dimensional.
-
From what I am hearing around here (Rochester area) the expectation is that the next one will dump most of it's snow considerably further south than the last one.

I agree about the talent stockpiling. But in hockey draft picks very rarely start contributing as quickly as you are predicting. Most will spend a few years in the juniors and/or the AHL, then have their rookie seasons up at the NHL level, THEN be ready to contribute. Even the two most promising kids, Zadarov and Ristolainen, who I predict will have very good NHL careers based on what they have shown so far, should not be playing in the NHL right now. They should be in the development leagues and are only up at the Sabres because of how badly the Sabres suck right now. Though they beat the Sharks last night for the 2nd time this season, and soundly ... go figure. I agree the Sabres are on the right path regarding growing their own talent, I'm not sold entirely on Ted Nolan yet but we will see. However I think next year is probably 2 years anyway too soon to expect a strong team. -
Nate Silvers Elo Rating: Bills win, 69% chance. Elo point spread Bills -5.5 (http://fivethirtyeig...d-playoff-odds/) Chance of making the playoffs: 2% ... So he's saying there's a chance! (http://fivethirtyeig...s-some-respect/) CBS With Spread (Bills -4.5): 5 take the Jests and 3 take the Bills CBS Straight Up: 6 plus the computer take the Bills and 2 take the Jests. (http://www.cbssports.../straight-up/12) ESPN: 8 and the computer take the Bills. 3 take the Jests. 2 lazy pieces of **** haven't got their picks in yet so screw em. (http://espn.go.com/nfl/picks) Microsofts Cortana: Bills win, 65.9% chance (http://www.businessi...week-12-2014-11)

I think it is a combination of things that others have brought up. Lucky wins early, Marrone not needing to make key decisions, Orton playing above his mediocrity, Chicago being a major pretender and so on. The stars aligned for the Bills early. But over the course of the season teams will show what they really are. The Bills at the moment are mediocre.

It's nice that Gresham reached out. The "me me, !@#$ everyone else" mentality of the old dude I guess I will never understand. -

I agree with you about the free for all when it comes to foul balls etc, and I agree with you about kids first. But to me if a player is intending to give a souvenir to a specific person, be it man, woman, child, or something in between, then it stops being a free for all. I would think most everyone would feel this way but maybe I'm wrong. I can see someone making a grab for it in the heat of the moment. But I would think after thinking about it, a rational adult would give it to the person for whom it was intended. And to me anyway, this adult is a scumbag. -

A proper analogy is a baseball player tossing a ball to a specific fan and having an adult grab it instead and using force to do so. A random foul ball is a completely different situation. -
I saw a report on TV about a police dept. I think it was in Austin TX that has instituted mandatory training for its officers to prevent shootings as much as possible. But not shootings of people, shootings of dogs. They said when a dog gets shot their switchboard crashes from all the calls. That does not happen when a human gets shot. So basically people care more about dogs than other people.

This makes perfect sense unless Marrone thinks his job is in jeopardy this season in which case he will opt for the possibility of a few more wins. Which is obviously bad for the future of the Bills.
