  1. Maybin. Horrible picks based solely on combine stats like Flowers, Mamula, etc were common 10+ years ago. Learning from those past debacles should've prevented any team from making that mistake with Maybin.
  2. At the time of the 2011 draft, Aaron Williams was seen as a Safety by 31 of the 32 teams. It just took our front office 2 years to figure out that he was miscast as a CB.
  3. I keep seeing comparisons of Woods to Reggie Wayne when he came into the league. Rightfully so, they are almost identical in height, weight, & measurables. They were both seen as the best route runner & most NFL-ready WR in their class, but were said to be a cut below superstar level. While I hope Woods turns out like Wayne, it should be noted that Wayne had a VERY slow start to his career. Wayne's rookie year stat line is actually worse than TJ Graham's, despite having Peyton Manning as his QB. Even his 2nd year was nothing to get excited over. This board will be crying BUST if Woods only matches Wayne's rookie numbers of 27 catches for 345 yards & no TDs. We need to temper our expectations IMO.
  4. That comparison to Gabbert is downright scary. I don't agree with it, but reading that is frightening...
  5. Losman was a moron & a cocky A-hole, in addition to being from a dumbed-down offense. His only asset was a monster arm. I really doubt he'd be drafted before round 4 in today's NFL. EJ is very smart, team-oriented, from a pro-style offense, oh- and also has a monster arm. Not really any comparison.
  6. Wow, he sounds like a complete freaking moron in that video. I feel bad for the interviewer. Can you imagine him in an interview for a regular job? I guess that's part of the reason he wasn't looked at as a first round prospect despite being a wrecking ball. That said, I love the pick and I'm excited for what he can do on the field.
  7. Eifert really has the highest floor among the top-20 IMO. At worst, he's just a really good TE.
  8. Love the trade, hate the pick of Manuel.
  9. Fantasy Football took the NFL from just 1 of the 4 major sports, to being head & shoulders above the others. The game is waaaay too popular now that almost all males play fantasy football. Average fans don't care about players' safety as much as they do about their fantasy team. The NFL will be just as strong, if not stronger, in 25yrs as it is today.
  10. I hadn't even considered the possibility of a TE in the 1st until this thread, but now I LOVE the idea. I'm all for taking Eifert over any of the QBs or WRs, and all the defensive players aside from Dion Jordan. I really want this to happen, which means we'll probably crap the bed and take Nassib at #8.
  11. We are NOT a team that should be looking at Ansah in the 1st. I really hope the organization learned something from the Flowers & Maybin picks & drafting pass rushers with "high potential". If Ansah goes to a good team where he can be a situational pass rusher & learn behind solid vets, he could really develop. If he came here and is expected to be a solid starter right away, high flop potential. That said, if we replace the Ansah pick with some other top-10 defensive player, A+++ draft.
  12. I'm starting to agree with this. I think our picks in rounds 1-3 have to be WR/LB/TE in whatever order. If they are able to trade down & get an extra 2nd or late 1st, then I'd support grabbing a QB too. If we trade back into the late first, I'll be pissed, because it'll kill our chances of filling 3 holes.
  13. Do we really even have Kolb? It's been 3-4 days since it was "sort of announced", and still no official announcement. I don't think I've ever seen another FA signing situation like this. I'd say there's still a 50% Bills draft a QB in the first round, even with Kolb.
  14. I think people on this board forget that we will be running a West Coast Offense. A QB whose strength is WCO has to be a good thing. Kolb is strictly a West Coast Offense QB. He struggled in AZ partly because of the horrid OL, but he was a bit out of place in that offense. Another WCO QB was Jeff Garcia. After some really good years for the 49ers, remember when Garcia played in Cleveland & Detroit in traditional offenses? He was brutal. Everybody thought he was washed up, & went to Philly as a backup and thrived in their WCO. I keep hearing that Kolb over Fitz is a lateral move at best. Nobody knows how Fitz would've adapted to the new offense, he may have been even worse. I personally think Chan's offense masked Fitz's deficiencies. I like the move, but mainly because it affords the front office the option of drafting a blue chip player at #8 instead of being forced to take a QB like Nassib or Manuel out of necessity. I'm hoping we take a QB in the 2nd.
  15. Anybody know the Wonderlic scores for the QBs? I'd guess that Smith & Barkley are in the high range, and Manuel is a good bit lower based on what I've seen. Maybe the reason EJ's offense was so simple and relied on so many screens is that he couldn't handle complexity. I'll be pissed if we end up taking Manuel over Smith or Barkley because mobile option QBs are the flavor of the month, and we find out his Wonderlic is in the teens. RG3, Kaepernick, and R Wilson are very smart QBs and that's part of the reason they've been successful. Teams are gonna fail trying to copycat that model with Vince Young/Terrelle Pryor types.
  16. I rarely watch College football, but I did watch the entire Orange Bowl this year (Florida State vs Northern Illinois). I was far from impressed with Manuel, and based on that game, I was shocked to hear he's being considered in the top-2 rounds. It seemed like most of the passes he completed were wide open screens. It seems like his stock increase is a product of having the perfect measurables, and not actually being a great QB. I hope I'm wrong, and I hope if he ends up on the Bills it's not at #8 overall.
  17. You forgot Steve DeBerg, Steve Bono, & Elvis Grbac.
  18. That description of Patterson is a joke. He is not even close to what AJ Green was coming out of college. Patterson would be a major risk anywhere in the first. That draft would be a worst case scenario for the Bills. Everybody we want, and everybody other teams would trade up for, are gone.
  19. I'll be furious if we take a bust WR at #8. But getting Barkley in the 2nd would keep me off the edge, though it could never happen. I also find it hard to believe that we'd come out of the draft without a single LB, or even a DB. Serously, that draft would be a total bomb unless Barkley becomes a top-10 QB.
  20. Can't Hairston step in at OG if Pears is healthy? Most teams projected him as a Guard in the draft, and I think that may be what Marrone has in the back of his mind if we don't sign anybody.
  21. 700lbs on the leg press is far from impressive. You'll see regular 180lb guys in the gym every day doing high reps with that and more. He's also wearing knee wraps (which make it easier) and only doing about 60% range of motion. I'm sure Troup could double the weight & still do reps, and the vid is probably just his warm-up. He looks great. I hope he's healthy & ready to finally contribute.
  22. I have a feeling he'll be unemployed until after the draft. Kolb will be some team's consolation prize after missing out on a QB in the draft, hopefully not ours.
  23. This isn't Baseball. NFL has a cap floor which will prevent "moneyball" from ever truly being applied to the Bills. Getting bargains here and there is crucial to maintaining a solid roster under the cap, but not the basis for putting a team together. I think what the Pats have done the past decade is the ideal model of NFL moneyball. Let overpriced vets walk, unless they are a true difference-maker (Brady, Wilfork), stockpile draft picks, and pick up bargain FAs.
  24. This! Everyone please stop with this Levitre was worth starting LT money.
  25. If Welker leaves NE, they'll sign Amendola in about 2 seconds and he'll do exactly what Welker did for cheaper and will be around longer. It sucks, but it's probably true.
