I actually have come to terms with the lack of free agency activity this year. I like the Manny Lawson signing, and I like that they are taking a good look at Fred Davis (could be a good signing if he is cleared medically and the price is right). I think we will see some more "low-level" FA signings before and after the draft to fill in some of the gaps. That is just fine with me. I don't expect the Bills to make a marked improvement this year, and as much as I hate to say it, it looks like we are beginning another re-building process. Let's just hope they get it right this time, and it all begins with the quarterback position. Seems as though they are leaving no stone unturned (draft and FA/trade) to find the right guys to compete at QB.
Save that cap room to extend guys like Byrd, Wood, and Spiller.

They have a 6'9 player who shoots 48% from behind the arc. Yikes.
We have a 6'8" player who shoots 49% from behind the arc, and another 6'8" player who shoots 40% from behind the arc. Too bad our guards are such lousy 3 point shooters. Hopefully at least Triche gets in the groove tonight...maybe we'll get one or two from MCW/Cooney.

Hey, didn't Travis Brown start a game for the Bills, a season ender?
You talkin about "bad, bad" Levi Brown? If so, the answer is no. Levi came in late in a game at the end of the 2010 season, and was 2/3 for 24 yards with an interception.
Currently playing QB for the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the CFL.

FWIW....JB stated in a press conference today that he will definitely be coaching next season. Hopefully, that can put to rest all the rumors of his retirement. Well, at least until next season
-
Huh? Not saying that it's not going to happen, but what has he done to earn a D-1 head coaching job?
Yeah...I know it's way out there, and just a wild rumor at this point. It is not completely inconceivable, however, as Gerry does have almost two seasons worth of assistant coaching experience under Jim Boeheim. That has to count for something I suppose.
Could be a nice "bump" for a downtrodden program like Siena coming off an absolutely horrible season. A young coach, with a national championship under his belt as a player, and assistant coaching experience at a major Division I program like Syracuse? Who knows?
For the record, this rumor did not come from my "source" within the SU athletics department.

I have a hermit crab named Fred.

Bump!
Let's go Orange!!!
Rumor: Gerry McNamara to be next head coach of Siena College??????? You heard it here first, and if it doesn't happen, you didn't hear it from me

1)Is it really that big a circus? It seems the medias already tired of it. Like it'll get some draft mentions and maybe an off references here or there but I don't think the circus would be pulling into town if we took him
2) hard to say. I think he's in the top 40 or so prospects, but I don't know if he will be the best option available at 41.
Which as a second rounder, isnt half bad if he plays like poz
1. I don't know how big of a "circus" it would be, but I'd rather avoid any unnecessary outside distractions. Let some other team deal with that nonsense. I will agree, however, I think the worst of it is probably over.
2. A couple linebackers I would rather have (that may be around at #41) are Alex Okafor (Texas), Arthur Brown (K-State), and Khaseem Greene (Rutgers). If we go WR in round 2 (De'Andre Hopkins/Justin Hunter), a couple of LB's I like in round 3 are Sio Moore (UConn) and Jonathan Bostic (Florida).
-
I, personally, don't want anything to do with that circus. Plus, if LB is the direction we go in round 2, I feel that there will be better options at #41.

They have Terrell Pryor as their QB......and you say they have greater needs than QB? I'm not saying they're definitely going to take Geno, but if they think he's a franchise guy, they're showing why their franchise is in the dumpster. They have NO bigger need than QB. If you don't have a good-great QB, your biggest need is QB. Period. My raiders have a 3rd round pick QB......that can't throw.
Well...that is just your opinion man, and you are entitled to that. It is my opinion, however, that given the weak QB class this year, the Raiders will want to get better value with the #3 overall pick. Yes, given that Terrelle Pryor is a largely unproven commodity at this point, QB in a need for the Raiders. It has been my impression, however, that new offensive coordinator, Greg Olson, feels that Pryor was misused in his limited action last season. I suspect that they will try to utilize him in a role similar to Russell Wilson and RG-III...in a read-option type offense. It is pretty clear that Pryor's strength is not as a drop-back passer, and with some coaching, he might thrive with a change of offensive scheme that capitalizes on his strengths as an athlete who can run with the football.
IMO...a read-option type offense with a combination of Pryor, Darren McFadden, and Marcell Reece would be scary for opposing defenses. They could take the best defensive lineman (or perhaps Dee Milliner) with the #3 overall pick, and still draft a developmental QB in the 3rd or 4th round if needed (i.e., Bray, Dysert, Scott). I see defensive line and cornerback to be greater needs for the Raiders this year.
BTW...your avatar is scary. Please don't snap my arm in half for disagreeing with you.

My son is 3, but when he reaches "drinking age" I will tell him this. If you get arrested for drunk driving, enjoy your stay in jail overnight, and I will come kick your a$$ in the morning after I sober up

I was asked to be a groomsman in my sister's wedding a few years back. My brother-in-law got us all bobbleheads that looked exactly like us...I mean, EXACTLY. The thing is, you need to get several pictures of your groomsmen's head (i.e., front profile, left profile, right profile). My BIL had my wife took pictures without me knowing what it was for. He had our bobbleheads dressed in tuxedos, but it is my understanding that you can have them dressed any way you want.
You just send them the pictures, and then they design "prototypes" of each person based on the pics. My BIL said that the customer service was amazing, and he got to tweak each bobblehead until they were to his liking (i.e., hair style, skin shade, facial features, facial expression, etc...). Here is a link to the website if you're interested.
Great, unique gift...everyone loved them

Visited San Fran 2 years ago and stayed at the Parc 55 Wyndham in Union Square. My wife and I took a shuttle from the airport (about a 30-45 min. ride), and it only cost us $15 per person. The shuttle van we took wasn't operated by any particular hotel, but was more like a taxi (and they were all over the place just outside the baggage claim). Was really convenient and cheap...IMO. I'd hate to have to drag my luggage onto a train, and then have to walk to my hotel. Funk that!!

They are releasing Palmer, and his backup is Terrell Pryor. They will be taking Geno - take it to the bank.
Yeah, and Palmer's back-up is Terrelle Pryor who they just recently spent a 3rd round pick on in the supplemental draft. The same Terrelle Pryor who has been rumored all off-season to be getting a shot at the starting QB job. I wouldn't be so sure dude. The Raiders have a lot greater needs than QB.
-
The Raiders are gonna take Geno.
Not if the Jags take him with the 2nd pick, or not if somebody trades up into the #1 spot.....but seriously, what makes you so sure? The Raiders have a monstrous need for defensive linemen (especially DT), and it just so happens that this draft happens to be very top heavy with talent at the d-line position. I predict Sharrif Floyd or Dion Jordan to the Raiders.

Buddy Nix - Richard "The Rich Texan" O'Hara

I agree that this will help improve the Bills chances of landing their QB at #8. Teams rumored to be interested in Geno Smith, who also have a glaring need at d-line (i.e., Oakland) will find it hard to pass on this guy.
-
TSW posters would be the comic book guy. "Worst draft pick ever."
-
you, sir, are a certified idiot for making that statement. Hope you crawl back under that rock where you belong. Very myopic of you.
I agree with the sentiment sir, but in the future, please refrain from using words that require me to reference my dictionary
Well, Lois, since you asked, I find this meatloaf rather shallow and pedantic.

He won the Pudding Pie Award in 2010....I'm sold. I don't care about the money he's earning...it's not coming out of my pocket and the Bills have plenty of cap room. I just think that there were/are much better options out there for WR depth.

Apparently I'm the only one on this board who's glad that Brad Smith is still on the roster.
But regardless, if he hasn't been released yet it's not going to happen.
I am too, but it's not worth arguing over
im on the brad smith bandwagon, if you could call it that. im not going to complain much if released but i think he can still be an asset. call me crazy.
May I ask why?
He's not a QB, he not a very good WR, he's not really good in the wildcat because he's no threat to throw the football, and he's not even really a good kickoff return guy. Granted, he has a knack for converting on 3rd and short, but 3.75 million for that? Please enlighten me.
-
It can't be anything earth shattering. Maybe he saved a lot of money on his car insurance by switching to Geico?
-
Unbelievable that a solid hand like Nelson is gone while this completely worthless player stays for twice the money.
I have a feeling they'll bring Nelson back on the cheap. He's been on the market for a while now, and to my knowledge, hasn't garnered any interest.
SILB or WILB?

Excuse my ignorance, but in the 3-4 scheme, is there really much of a distinction between the ILB's? I have heard that some defensive schemes rely on one of the two to be sort of a "defensive fullback" on running plays; essentially blowing up any blockers coming up the middle and allowing the other ILB to roam free. I'm in favor of having Sheppard start at one of the ILB positions, but I honestly don't know which one he would be a better fit for.
Of the LB options you mentioned, I really like Khaseem Greene from Rutgers. He has good sideline to sideline range, is super aggressive, and has a knack for making big plays (6 sacks & 6 FF in 2012). Additionally, he is pretty fast and pretty solid in coverage (might be a good fit in Pettine's defense). One downside his his "tweener" status, and he sometimes struggles to shed blocks and get to the ball carrier. That said, I would love to see the Bills take him in round 2.
Sio Moore from Connecticut is another guy who intrigues me, but admittedly, I don't know where he would fit in either.
Could someone who knows more x's and o's defensively school me to the linebacker positions in the 3-4 defense?
