  1. closer to a Lawrence Taylor than a Bruce Smith...just different style.

And yes, if Manziel isn't in the next draft class, Clowney should go #1

Manziel is a red-shirt freshman this year, therefore he will be a red-shirt sophmore next season. I think he's eligible for the 2014 draft. I any case, I think Clowney would be the no-brainer #1 pick.

A year as a "redshirt" player in college counts toward eligibility even though the player was not allowed to participate in games during that year. Therefore players who have completed their redshirt sophomore year can enter the NFL draft.

  2. These kids aren't doing much different than I was doing in college. Hopefully its not a season ender...but my 'source' :-) tells me otherwise. Nice to see life from Coleman, Grant & Cooney. Tough stretch ahead.

Unfortunately, my "sources" are also telling me otherwise. Southy may be lost for the season. I can't believe he would allow something to happen during his senior season! A freshman I can understand to some degree, but this is just inexcusable. I'm optimistic that this is just going to open the door for Jerami Grant to become a major contributor. I think he's ready.

I hope MCW does not think he is going pro after this year. He needs some experience. I thought he had some bad turnovers today and the last 3 minutes he was horrible. I think he tends to dish once he drives inside when most times he is so close he just needs to finish strong.

Freshmen got some minutes today. Was hoping Christmas would be more involved in the offense but was not

If you think MCW isn't ready to leave for the NBA you're insane. Yes, his play is erratic at times, he is widely regarded as the best PG in all of college basketball. Remember, the NBA drafts on potential....not necessarily on how "NBA ready" a player is at the time. If MCW stays for another season it will be his decision alone....not because NBA people are telling him he's not ready.

  3. I tell ya....in that last game against the Jets Merriman was knocking the snot outta people!

Amen to that brother!! I remember he got between the tackle and guard on one play and absolutely slobberknockered Shonn Green. When I realized it was Merriman I almost shat my britches. Thought it was Bradham at first...

  4. I'm not sure how many of you out there follow CNNSI for some of your sports news, but I tried to access their webpage today and was directed to a link for Bleacher Report. Evidently, Bleacher Report is "on a mission to revolutionize the way fans learn, think, and talk about their favorite teams." The complete "transfer of power" is scheduled to happen sometime in February.

Many folks on here have been critical of Bleacher Report due to the perceived sub-par sports coverage. In fact, many posters who provide links to Bleacher Report stories are often chided for doing so. For those of you who know more than me about Bleacher Report are they really changing the way they do business, or is this a very ill advised move by CNN?

    Here is the link....

    Thoughts?

  5. TE'O looks lost out there. Very slow in diagnosing plays often resulting in TE's being wide open up the middle (i.e., blown coverage on the TD pass). He takes horrible angles on the ball, and has a very difficult time shedding blocks. Would get destroyed by fullbacks/o-linemen at the nest level.

I vote to change the name of this thread to CJ Mosley is Special

  6. More realistic than Lovie Smith, Scott Shafer:

Was DC/AHC under Jim Harbaugh at Stanford. Harbaugh was quoted as saying Snafer is "one of the most creative and innovative defensive minds in college football." Schafer's defense at Stanford 5th in the nation.....37 sacks and 101 TFL in 2007.

This guy likes to bring the heat....I wouldn't be surprised if the Bills gave him a look.

  7. All year they start out slow and then bang! Up by 15!

Great game and a good statement to make to the Big East. I was at the game so I don't know his name but #5 from Rutgers was on fire to begin the game and I had visions of Temple all over again. Luckily that wasn't the case. MCW had a bit of a gunner attitude at the beginning of the game and I actually liked that he was trying to exert some dominance. Absolutely love Grant on the floor and Christmas I thought played well. This was a game to me that the length really played a factor. Christmas and Keita were very active on defense and it was great to see.

I think Grant is going to start stealing minutes away from Southerland as the season progresses. Didn't see the game, but I hear he played pretty well. It has to be difficult for him to find any type of rhythm...especially with shooting. Heard Christmas was a beast on defense. Also, this is the type of effort we are going to need from Brandon Triche (consistently) if we are going to do anything this season.

  8. You forgot her birthday dicksticks!

I wish it was that simple...lol.

After your son goes to bed Friday night.

    ask what is wrong.

Could the errand have anything to do

    with your birthday or anniversary?

Could the errand be related to a class

she is taking or wants to take?

No birthday, anniversary or classes. I think she is just being wacko. She goes through these phases periodically. I'll just ride it out for a while, and if she wants to tell me what's bothering her she will eventually. Good thing I got a new television and blu-ray player for the spare bedroom

Don't want to turn this into a MDP discussion, but thanks for the thoughts.

  9. Mrs. Hammersticks is not a big fan of Johnny right now. She has been miserable/rude all day long, won't tell me what's wrong, and now I'm by myself in the bedroom while she reads in the living room (she only reads when she's pissed at me). What gives? Why can't she just tell me what's pissing her off? I even made her a special dinner tonight and she left to "run some errands" at 6:30. Left me and my 3 year old boy to eat dinner alone. I just don't understand my wife, and I'm not happy :(

I wonder if she might be depressed or something...

    CGF (or anyone else)...any insight/advice for a caring husband/father?

  10. A lot of doom and gloom around here lately. Watched yesterday's game on ESPN3, and granted it was against power house Central Connecticut State, but the team really seemed to put things back together. It all started with MCW who looked like his old self again. I believe he was one rebound shy of a triple-double. MCW also was light's out from behind the arc. Dujuan Coleman is starting to look more comfortable IMO, as he played well in his 20 minutes scoring 13 points (3-5 from the charity stripe). Jerami Grant also made good use of his minutes.

Trevor Cooney had that deer in headlights look again, as he was 2-8 from the field for 6 shaky points. The defense looked slow and sloppy in the early going, as the grossly undersized CCSU squad picked apart the zone, moving the ball well and finding good shots. That was short lived, however, as JB seemed to have the defense tightened up by the end of the 1st half. Syracuse should have a decent test this Wednesday when the 9-2 Scarlet Knights come to the dome. They have a pesky guard in Eli Carter who will likey be in MCW's hip pocket for the entire game.

Anyway....still have faith that JB will bring this team together....if not, however, Autry and Hop have been doing a great job on the recruiting trail.

Here's 2014 committ, 5 star SF Chris McCullough (ranked 12 overall by ESPN). McCullough is probably Syracuse's best recruit since Carmelo Anthony. Definitely a one-and-done type of kid. Enjoy, and GO ORANGE!!
