  1. With Mario and Anderson hopefully filling our 3 down needs next season at DE, I'd like to take a shot at a project kid like Thomas. If you look at his physical ability, it appears limited. Not the fastest off the edge or the most physically gifted. However, he knows how to rush the passer and contains/compresses the football well. A good size for a 3-4 outside backer, hard work in the weight room can add 20 lean lbs to his frame making him a viable option as a pass rushing, 3rd down DE.

    Thomas' Pros:

    -hand placement

    -weight control

    -reliability in containing the edge/compression

    -shed ability/technically sound

    Thomas' Cons:

-Not ideal speed off the edge

-Currently undersized for DE (6'4 240)

-A project transforming to 4-3 DE

There are many needs for this Bills in this off season. I think picks like Thomas can add needed depth to a defense that has shown some good spurts but is unreliable. Given the right opportunity and coaching,With a good head on his shoulders, Thomas could be a defensive force the Bills can transform into a reliable and sound role player.

As many needs as we have, we may not have room for projects this year.

Are you serious? I'd be absolultey shocked if this kid made it out of the 3rd round. More likely a mid-late 2nd round pick. I would be delighted to get this kid in the 2nd round. Reminds me of Clay Matthews.

  2. As of 1 PM:

    • Police believe fire(s) were set as a trap as shooter waited and targeted first responders
    • Shooter reportedly found dead at scene of gunshot wound, unsure if self-inflicted or shot by pursuing police. No other details on shooter.
    • 2 surviving victims both have undergone surgery with significant bone injuries due to gunshot wounds, one to pelvis other to shoulder/chest.
    • All victims were volunteer fire fighters
    • one of the deceased was also a lieutenant in the Webster police department, the other was also a dispatcher.
    • Fires are still burning with 8 homes involved at this time. Unable to get into homes to see if there are any other victims.

This whole situation makes me wonder about how many of these crazy f***ers are floating around our neighborhoods....watching our children play on the playground. Really, this guy bludgened his grandmother to death with a hammer, and he only does 17 years in prison?!?! The system is broken.

  3. He'll probably need to when MCW leaves for the NBA.

Hopefully not with the continued development of Cooney and the addition of Duke transfer Michael Gbinjie and frosh Ron Patterson. Plus, I still think we have an outside shot at 2013 combo guard Rysheed Jordan.

Dude!! That was his one bad game tis year. He's flat out dominated everyone. Not to mention # 1 inte country in assists and #2 in steals. He's doing something right. There's no comparison to last year. He might best the best PG in the country and most likely a lottery pick in the draft right now.

There is no doubt about MCW's skill...probably the best SU point guard since Flynn (probably better). I do question his ability, however, to play with discipline and demonstrate leadership. I have to remind myself sometimes that he basically is a freshman...he only played about 270 total minutes last season.

  4. Why don't we just use our 2nd round pick on Glennon when his name is Tyler Bray. Almost exactly the same skill set and physical attributes.....seriously, I will be really upset if the Bills pick Glennon in the 1st (especially if they are drafting 5-9 range).

I say if Geno Smith is gone, then take the best defensive player available not named Manti Te'O.

  5. Twas the day after Christmas, and all through the house, there were toys strewn from wall to wall.....if that boy doesn't pick up all his s**t I'm gonna snap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Where's my wife? I'm hungry for some scrambled eggs and toast.

  6. I have now lost in the championship round of my FF league 3 years running. This year was particularly painful, as I was leading by 4 points (non PPR) going into the SEA/SF game and my opponent had Crabtree. Crabtree ended up catching like 4 balls for 65 yards and I lost by 2 points. :censored:

Thanks BTW to Tony Gonzalez for his stellar day mustering up 1 catch for 9 yards. Great.

  7. he's had some teams that get better as the season progresses, and some that peak in November/December (like 2 years ago, for example).

I don't think that the comparison to 2003 is fair, for one simple reason: Melo. There is nobody on this year's squad that has an offensive skillset remotely close to Melo, circa 2003. While Forth/McNeil didn't have a low post game, Warrick did. And Forth was really, really solid defensively.

You make a fair point, in fact, I recall thinking this same thing after I posted. I do think my core point is valid, however, in that one of Boeheim's greatest strengths as a coach is his teaching ability. I could see guys like Jerami Grant, Trevor Cooney, and Dujuan Coleman really finding their way in this offense as the season progresses. My main fear, as eluded to by previous posters, is our lack of depth at guard. Triche or MCW go down and we are really in for some trouble. I do think Southy could hold down the 2 in a pinch though.

  8. Danny Amendola might be a nice option in FA if St. Louis let's him get away. With the improvement of Brandon Gibson, and the emergence of rookie Chris Givens, they might not want to open up the pocket book for Amendola. He's still fairly young (27), but has plenty of gas left in the tank.

  9. I think it should be noted that JB has a knack of really "shaping" his teams as the season progresses. I look back to the 2003 championship season as a great example. Yes, he had Carmelo Anthony, freshman sensation Gerry McNamara, and Hakim Warrick. But does anyone recall the progress that was made by role-players like Kueth Duany (the lone senior), Josh Pace, Billy Edelin, Jeremy McNeil, and Craig Forth? The team started the season unranked, cracked the top 25 in January, and made it up to the #11 ranking by the end of regular season play.

Those of us who watched that team closely saw a team that evolved from being a competitive team certainly poised for a run in the NCAA's, to a team that was playing "elite" basketball. Neither Craig Forth or "stone hands" Jeremy McNeil had any semblance of an inside game, and Kueth Duany could barely dribble a basketball, but JB shaped his team to play to their strengths.

I still believe, wholeheartedly, that this team has a legit shot at a final 4 run this season. My biggest fear is a serious injury to MCW or Brandon Triche, as we have no depth at guard, and Cooney clearly is not ready yet. Who knows, however, how Cooney will be playing come tournament time? Jim Boeheim is a great teacher.

  10. Nassib will not make it to the 3rd round. There is absolutely no way that will happen. If you think he will last until the middle rounds, you obviously haven't been watching Syracuse football this year.

  11. A total stinker today, and there's plenty of blame to go around. MCW was horrible, especially from the line (really...7-15 from the charity stripe?). Triche was solid in the first half, but then in typical fashion disappeared for what seemed to be the remainder of the game. Clearly our best big man today was Keita, and that's really sad. Cooney has no confidence in himself, and it is now apparent that JB and his teammates are losing confidence in him as well.

Only 9 attempts from behind the arc, and SU only made two of them (MCW was 0-5). Defense and rebounding was putrid. Finally, it might sound like sour grapes, but the officiating today was dreadful. Not an excuse for the loss, but it was apparent to everyone (including the announcers) that the zebras dictated the flow of the game with ticky-tack calls. Let the f***ing kids play for chrissakes.....especially in the final 2 minutes!!!

I still think this team has a great deal of potential to make a deep run in the tournament, and I know that every team has bad games. They looked completely disinterested out there. I have confidence, however, that this team will continue to improve throughout the season.

Kudos to the Temple kids who absolutely played their hearts out today. They left everything out on the court and deserved to win this one.

  12. I'm just relieved to see that Tyler Thigpen is an UFA. With Tavaris Jackson also a UFA and likely a goner, it appears that the Bills are going to clean house at the QB position. Either draft 2 QB's, or draft 1 and get one through free agency. Keep Fitz around to back up and mentor our new rookie QB
