  1. And I'm the one taking this personal.

Yes...it's pretty apparent to the common observer that the female dog mushers aren't necessarily the most attractive women in the wide world of sports. Now, if Jim's friend or relative was one of the women who was the victim of your "joke," I would understand his response. Otherwise, I say get a sense of humor.

  2. There's probably a lot of posters here who don't appreciate that you pointed this out.

Yep...And I'm pretty sure Barkley had some clutch performances in his USC years...He also lost a lot of big games...But anyway... B-)

    Didn't take long San Jose....lol.

For the record, I'm not a Nassib guy. The OP's question was which of this year's QB prospects were the best "in the clutch." Being a Syracuse fan, those last second drives by Nassib for wins against Louisville and Missouri stood out to me. Nassib took the reins when the games were on the line, and he led his team to victories. That is clutch to me.

  3. A native drinking? I can't believe that. The iditarod trail is far older then the 60's. It dates from when someone 110 + years ago discovered the best pass trough the Alaska range. Funny river I believe?

Yeah, I read about that as well Jim. I think the question from Vader was "how old is the Iditarod race?" I'm just learning about all this stuff. Hell, I'm just a yankee from central NY.

  4. Best value for the Bills in round 1 seems to be OL (if Geno is gone). Assuming Geno is gone and we get Eric Fisher/Lane Johnson in round 1, I'd like to take a QB in the 2nd round...preferably EJ Manuel. In the 3rd round I'd really like to get a TE or a WR...preferably Travis Kelce from Cincinnati or Quinton Patton from LA Tech. Build defense the rest of the way and through FA.

  5. How old is the Iditarod race?

Wikipedia says the origional Iditarod race was held in 1973, although portions of the trail used today have been used for a few different sled dog races since the early 1960's.

  6. I now officially have a favorite musher to root for this year...the guy sounds tough.....what's his 40 time and is he good in pass coverage as a 4-3 MLB??

haha...Rudy has the "quickest first step" of all the mushers, but his 40 time was a bit disappointing. It should be noted, however, that he stopped after 20 yards to take a swig of fire water from his flask.

  7. The 1,000+ mile sled dog race from Anchorage to Nome, Alaska kicks off tomorrow and a friend of mine is participating. One of my favorite drinking buddies, 67 year old Rudy Demoski is competing in his 7th Iditarod race. He hasn't competed in 27 years, but decided to enter the race this year because he "wasn't getting any younger." His best finish was 4th in 1974, and he has also finished in 9th, 15th, and 18th place in his Iditarod career.

Rudy is an Alaskan Native who is also a world renowned moose hunting guide. He has shown me pic's of him hunting with celebrities like Larry Czonka and Richard Petty. The guy has some amazing stories. Like the time in 1977 when he was leading the Iditarod after 20+ checkpoints, but stopped to get drunk in some village and had to drop out of the race. He also told me this great story about how he raised 2 Grizzly Bear cubs when he was a kid. He and his buddies woke the bears up from their hibernation (in the crawl space below his home) on New Years Eve, got them completely trashed on home-brew, and then (shocker) the bears proceeded to destroy his home. Truly a wild man!

Here's a picture of good ol' Rudy...

If you are interested, you can track Rudy's progress here...

Today (03/02) was the "ceremonial" start in Anchorage. The race officially begins tomorrow, as the mushers embark from Willow, Alaska.

  8. This team !@#$ing blows.

They're mediocre. They will probably win a couple games in the tourney, but are just too inconsistent (and limited offensively) to do any serious damage. I try to put things in perspective here. Yes, Syracuse has lost 3 games in a row, but I don't think any team in the country has a tougher 5 game stretch to end their regular season. I'm just as frustrated as anyone on here, but to say they suck is a bit of an overreaction IMO.

I was really hoping DC would get some minutes today. Clearly, Christmas has no offensive game to speak of. Why not let the freshman get some significant minutes, feed him the ball, and see what he can do. Hell, even though he missed the shot on that low-post move, he looked better than Christmas has looked all season.

Oh yeah, I will say it again. Triche has no balls....completely folds under pressure.

  9. It's always very obvious, well in advance, when the home team's student section is going to storm the court (unless it is a buzzer beater shot scenario). If you are the visiting team, and you don't get off the court in time, this is your fault. I have a great deal of respect for coach K, but I sure wouldn't mind seeing some dukies get trampled

  10. I'm 34 years old, and I still can't grow a proper beard. I'd love to, but it just looks wierd and creepy after a few days. Plus, I just can't get over the itchy-scratchy phase of growing facial hair. I tried to grow out a beard during Christmas vacation this year and I nearly went insane after about day 4....scratching my neck and face like cracky crack-head boo boo going through withdrawal.

  11. Agreed. To me, the bigger issue is will she be able to assist in any way after the kick? Can she tackle on occasion if needed? I can't imagine any team would be willing to go 10 on 11 on their kickoffs.

Maybe she can boot it out of the end zone every time like John Potter

  12. Also, it's clear after reading up on him that Scott is the official "Sleeper QB" of this draft. That being the case, does he even make it to the Jags at pick #95? Given the successes of athletic running QBs like Kaepernick and Wilson, the answer is probably no. I could make a case for eight teams possibly taking him the back end of that third round.

Have you seen any evidence that Scott is an "athletic running QB" like Kaepernick and Wilson? I haven't.
