  1. what kind of dumbass parent gives a kindergarden kid this haircut?

I've been an educator for 8 years, and have seen these fads come and go. I see kids with mohawks running around all the time. If this kid's haircut is the worst of the teacher's problems, and it is so distracting that it is disrupting the learning of the other students, then she shouldn't be a teacher. This story is completely absurd. I hope the parents sue the crap out of this school district.

  2. Look out for them down the road. They are you youngest team in the tourney.

So? It's not 1976, they're not sticking around.

Trey Burke most certainly is going to enter the draft, but McGary (Fr) has already said that he will be staying for another season. Also, Glenn Robinson III (Fr.) and Tim Hardaway (Jr) aren't going anywhere. Plus, they're adding 3 top 100 recruits for 2013 (2 top 40). They're going to be good for a while.

  3. Tough loss but its easier to accept when a team over achieves.

I can't help but look ahead to next year. Who in the world is going to play in the backcourt? MCW and Triche are on their way out. The freshman PG coming in, Ennis, is supposed to be good, but the only returning guard is Cooney, and he, um, is.....underwhelming. They have another shooting guard committed.....but boy is that a thin backcourt.

As I'm typing this I just remembered they have the Duke transfer who will be eligible next season....Is he a guard? Gbinije?

Michael "silent G" Gbinije is more of a small forward, but IMO will most likely earn the starting nod over Cooney at the 2 due to his athleticism, shooting ability, and ability to create off the dribble. He's 6'7" with a pretty good handle and a good shot. He's tremendously athletic too...loves to run the floor and plays above the rim. With Ennis, Gbinije, the freshman Patterson (think Paul Harris with a jump shot), and Cooney...I think we will be solid at the guard position.

I know it's a bit early, but here is how I project the starting 5 early in the season...

Ennis, Gbinije, Fair, Grant, Christmas (I think DC2 makes strides and eventually steals away playing time from Xmas). Cooney, the frosh Tyler Roberson, and Keita will all see minutes off the bench.

Here's a little taste of Gbijine.

  4. Nix has said time and again that he is in the business of drafting Tackles. If they don't pan out they can be moved inside. It mitigates risk substantially. You draft big Tackles with size and at least average feet and they can usually work out as a guard with some pulling ability after some adjustment. The only way you draft a guard ever is if they can also play Center.

You make a very good point here. With that in mind, OG/C Barrett Jones might be a good option, and due to his injury he just might be around in the 3rd round. The guy played all over the line (RG, LT, C) and played very well.

  5. Depending on who they have to pick from, I don't know that I'd be too disappointed with Warmack. It wouldn't be the sexy pick everyone on here is looking for, but the guy is an absolute animal.

That said, I don't think it will happen. I really think the #8 pick will be used to address the defense (i.e., Ansah, Jordan, Jones, Milliner/Rhodes).

  6. With the recent slew of FA QB signings/trades, you would think Kolb would take just about anything he could get at this point. In fact, IIRC his main suitors other than Buffalo were Oakland and Seattle. Plus, in Buffalo, he actually has a legitimate chance to be the starting QB. I don't think he has that opportunity with any other team at this point.

I wouldn't worry too much (those who like Kolb in Buffalo). I think this gets squared away.

  7. Meh....why not? Got a veteran QB for depth...possibly a starter until our drafted QB is ready to take over. Didn't have to give up any draft picks, and he got a very reasonable (Bills friendly) contract.

What's not to like? To those folks out there who are against this move, I ask you, which QB on the FA market would you rather the Bills have signed?

  8. how awesome is this, if in fact it's true.

    David Baumann@DavidBaumann3329m

Syracuse legend John Wallace to appear on my show tomorrow. He & ~40 ex @Cuse players are renting house in ATL for Final 4! @NunesMagician

The Syracuse basketball alumni support is amazing, and unparallelled from what I've seen from other teams. Great to see those guys' deep sense of pride and allegiance for the program. Especially loved seeing Lawrence Moten in DC amongst the usual cast of characters. One of my favorite SU players of all time. Wish he was rockin shorts with the jacked-up, knee-high tube socks though

  9. Love it.

Don't know much about your 5th and 6th round picks, but I agree we need to add a pass rusher at #8. Everyone seems to be clamoring for Patterson in the 1st, but I don't think people realize how raw he is and how much development he will require. Robert Woods, on the other hand, is a polished WR and (IMO) an impact player form day 1. Also love the Matt Scott (our QB of the future?) and McDonald picks.

This is actually the most realistic mock draft I have seen on TSW.

    Well done

  10. Lane Johnson, Ansah, Jordan, or Mingo. IMO, #8 is way too early for any TE in this draft, and I also agree that we will not draft a QB in the 1st 2 rounds.

Ideal situation, IMO, would be to trade back in the first if the opportunity should present itself.

  11. Normally I'd agree with you, but Gardner is a 300 lb beast who banged Rak and Baye around like they were nothing. DC2 can be a presence that Gardner can't push around.

Maybe so, but Keita is an entirely different player than he was the last time we played Marquette. I think JB will come up with a good gameplan to neutralize Gardner (or at least slow him down). Perhaps, similar to Zeller last night, by double teaming him with Southerland/Fair every time he touches the ball.
