Anyone actually do all 70 minutes of this?
I intend to and I have watched part 1, 2, and part of 3 while the humor of it I wasn't too fond of I really liked the analysis of the horrible nature of the movie. I think the best part of it was when he said describe the characters of episode 4 without giving a physical description or what they do as a profession. They were able to give a very good description of Han Solo and other, but when asked to describe Qui Gon Jin they just couldn't do it at all. Which goes to show how well the characters were developed in Episodes 4-6 and how they weren't developed very well in 1-3.

I want an offensive guy. Secondly I would want a guy who instills some passion into this team and isn't afraid to yell or mix it up. Basically I want the opposite of DJ.
-
I got the plot the first time I saw it and liked it, lol. Did I LOVE it? Nah...but I loved elements of it, and it definitely was one I wanted to see again. I wasn't meaning to say the plot was difficult to follow, but that people spend so much time hacking on the film that they miss the greater story arc.
BUT thats the point it was difficult to follow for a lot of people. AND if you look at whats actually happening in the movie it makes no sense at all and it ruined Star Wars. They jammed in a ton of stupid plot devices that made no sense. Lucas tried to make this movie for kids and instead he insulted everyone in the process.
Lucas should have thought to himself I didn't really make the first 2 two for kids and kids and adults seemed to like it so I should just do what I did in the first two again and everyone will like it. NO I am just going to make a movie that bastardizes my franchise in order to sell toys to kids.

Rather than trying to get lucky with an unproven commodity, I would much rather see the Bills hire a GM and a HC with proven track records of success in the NFL. Casserly and floyd reese come to mind for GM candidates but I am sure there are more. Cowher would be my #1 choice for HC, but that probably isn't happening. I would be happy with Billick or Fassel and even John Fox it he gets canned.
The point is that a lot of the better proven commodities in the league don't want to come to Buffalo. So why go after the second tier head coaching and GM candidates when hungrier and better up and coming candidates are available in winning organizations? Now if John Fox gets canned I would take him but pass on Billick and Fassel they are nothing more then low level retreads.
I think going after hungry guys trying to go out there and trying to proven themselves is a better strategy then going after a guy who might not have the same passion to make a name for themselves because they have done it before.

It's funny, cause when I ask people what they feel Phantom Menace was about, most of them can't tell me. People complain about the script or the plot or whatever, but unless they actually UNDERSTOOD it to begin with, it's hard for me to take their criticisms seriously. I'm not saying the prequels were great films, but they certainly weren't aimless and without a plot, and they weren't as bad as people make them out to be.
If you watch a movie (I have seen it multiple times) and you can't tell what really tell whats going on with the plot then its a bad movie. I saw the Phantom edit (Some dude took 28 minutes out of the movie to make it flow better and be tighter) and while it was better there was a ton of key flaws with the movie as explained by the youtube video in the original post. You shouldn't have to watch a movie a bunch of times and have to pay serious attention to get the plot.

as far as no big names, while hart was champ(multiple times), all of the following were at one time or another in wwf
hbk
undertaker
scott hall
kevin nash
hulk hogan
lex lugar
mr perfect
ric flair
steve austin
the rock
mick foley/cactus jack/mankind/dude love
and those are just off the top of my head......... so to say wwf didnt have any big names at any point in time is insane
while i do think things could have turned out better for wwf and bret hart,
everything that happened with the screw job is what helped wwf to put wcw out of business. so i guess vince and hbk were the smarter or luckier of the bunch
Hogan had left by the time Hart was the focus of the company. Hart wasn't the only draw but he was McMahon's biggest draw in the mid 1990's (At a time when Austin and the Rock weren't really big names yet) when guys like Savage, Hogan, Lex Luger, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, and Roddy Piper were all in WCW Hart was there in WWF. Hart who was a big draw internationally helped to keep the WWF much more popular in Europe, Canada, Australia, and other markets then WCW.
Hart also was a solid draw in the USA and did put Stone Cold Steve Austin on the map in 1996/7.

That's not exactly true. Bret said in the Wrestling with Shadows film that the contract was based on a certain number of appearances per year, and he had already exceeded that number, thus fulfilling the contract. He did say he had some creative control clause(s) in the contract, but Vince is the boss....what he says should be the final word, IMO.
Also, as far as lying to Bret's wife, McMahon ordered him to deny everything. Who is he going to be loyal to in that situation? The guy who pays his salary or someone who is about to leave the company and go to the biggest competitor? Shawn (and HHH) did what Vince told him to do.
True while the contract was based on appearances per year and Hart fulfilled that amount. BUT Hart had been working extra dates and appearances for free at one point. I am sure if McMahon wanted he could have worked out a legal agreement with Hart to drop the title to Austin or the Under Taker a day later. As I said Hart fulfilling the dates required on the contract and then some didn't mean that the contract was void or he was completely a free agent.
Hart didn't appear on WCW television for almost a month after (December 15th 1997 was his first appearance) if his contract was void and a free agent why couldn't he have appeared the next night on Nitro? McMahon did whatever he felt like and didn't care who got hurt in the process. McMahon didn't want to work out an agreement with Hart even though Hart was more then willing and had the contractual right to do so.
McMahon did the wrong thing, did it work out for him in the end yes. BUT it shows a lot about your character when you couldn't have made the most basic accommodations to a very loyal employee who took less money to sign with your company simply out of loyalty.

You mean like Williams and Mularkey?
Yes but guys other teams actually want. It sucks when you miss on a GM, Coach, or QB because it sets you back 4 years. BUT whats the alternative here. Big name former coaches simply don't want to come here. And the former head coaches that would take the job are nothing more then guys who aren't really going to amount to anything because even at their height they weren't much.
We have to take a chance on those type of hungry coordinator types. I know there are a few guys here high on Mike Leach but even an outside the box hire like that would be better then a Mike Martz type.

sure does show who michaels was...... a company guy willing to do anything to protect where he works.
shows who mcmahon was too...... a company owner looking to protect the business he built.
when all this went down, wwf was on the verge of bankruptcy and bret hart knew that when vinny mac asked him to defer some of the contract he signed just months ealier.
and for a guy that never drew in fans the way hogan, austin, the rock, and others did, he should have done whatever reasonable things mcmahon asked him to. which includes dropping the strap.
creative control for a character does not include creative control for an entire company
Hart help push Austin with the USA vs Canada angle. Hart was never the draw of Hogan, The Rock, or Austin was but he was a big draw at a time when McMahon didn't have many big names. So having creative control of how your character leaves doesn't mean you can't say I don't want to loose to that guy so I will loose to someone else isn't a reasonable request.
McMahon didn't want Hart there at all because McMahon couldn't afford him and WCW was willing to give him 9 million over 3 years. McMahon told Hart to negotiate with WCW and so Hart seeing the writing on the wall did so.
Hart has said that he did want to drop the belt just not to Michaels and according to Hart he was willing to drop it to Stone Cold Steve Austin or Ken Shamrock or someone else not named Shawn Michaels. McMahon as explained in my post didn't really protect his company at all because Hart would have still had 3-4 weeks left on his contract with WWF and could have never appeared on WCW television wearing the belt ever.
In fact Hart didn't appear on WCW television until a month later. And as far as Michaels doing what it took to protect the company is BS because he won the title he did it not because of the greater good but because he knew that he would look good and win the title and he would gain favor with McMahon by being his go to guy. Business is business but it says something about your character in the way you conduct your business. Especially towards a guy that has shown nothing but loyalty and given you nothing but hard work

This review (in 7 ten minute clips) is more entertaining than the movie was 10 years ago
Very good review. I remember seeing the Phantom Menace when it first came out and even though I was a kid (10 years old) and I loved star wars I was disappointed. I also remember that someone did a edit of the film where they cut 28 minutes from the film and it was a lot better but still had a ton of flaws.

Are we better than, equal to, or worse than -
Oakland
Seattle
Chicago
Equal to Oakland, better then Seattle, worse then Chicago and equal to Washington.

I recently saw the Shawn Michaels DVD, and I don't know what I think about the "screwjob", to be honest. Michaels admits on the DVD that he knew about the plan to screw over Bret and says that McMahon ordered him to deny any involvement no matter what. HHH was told the same thing. Bret was going to WCW, and when a champ leaves it's customary to drop the belt before doing so....and Vince wanted it dropped to Michaels in Canada. I pretty much blamed Bret for his refusal, but he does make some pretty good points in the "Shadows" film to defend his side of things. I just don't blame Vince entirely, because he told Bret what he wanted done, and Bret wouldn't play along. Vince has to do what's best for the WWE, and he couldn't take any chances that WCW Nitro would have Bret on tv with the WWE belt.
I think the entire ordeal could have been resolved much more professionally, so I sort of see the whole thing as a draw.
Hart would have dropped the belt to someone else in the few weeks after that Survivor Series since he was still under contract with the WWF for the next few weeks. Hart had a deep personal hate for Michaels and didn't want to loose the belt to him in Canada. Hart also had reasonable creative control in how his tenure with WWF would end.
McMahon was worried about Hart showing up on Monday Night Nitro wearing the WWF title and dropping it in a garbage can. BUT Hart couldn't have legally done that as Hart was still under contract with the WWF for a few more weeks. Had Hart actually done that the WWF could have called police to the event to stop it AND sue Hart and WCW for millions.
Bottom line McMahon didn't have to do that to Bret Hart and it shows who Michaels was when he lied right to Hart's wifes face and to the rest of Harts family. It also shows who McMahon was when he lied right to Harts face about the match. Its sad that Michaels gets to continue wrestle while Hart has been retired for 10 years.

Actually he's not the offensive coordinator. He's "Asst. Head Coach/Running Game Coordinator/Offensive Line". Whatever the heck that means...
http://www.azcardinals.com/team/coaches.html
Grimm doesn't strike me as head coaching material. The more I learn about him, the more he seems like a back seat, wall flower type. I think the Bills need a more dynamic, demonstrative head coach who has a take charge kind of personality. Plus, I'm a little wary of someone who spent 10 years banging heads in the trenches and in that tough as nails division and conference. The NFC during the 80's was frightening.
I started a thread yesterday about the NFL being a passing league. 6 out of the top 10 passing TD leaders are division leading QBs. The other two guys are Palmer and McNabb. While it's great to think of successful football as "establish the run first and play great defense" it's simply not the case in this day and age. They need to find a franchise QB, period end of story.
The more I look at things the more I think the Bills should seriously consider targeting Sam Bradford, sit him for 2010 while building a cohesive line and letting him build up his strength and conditioning for the 2011 season.
Well my point is that the Bills need to try and grab an up and coming coordinator who has the potential to develop into a good head coach. I brought up Grimm but you could substitute his name with a bunch of other up and coming coordinators. I don't want to see Jim Haslet, Mike Martz, or Dennis Green type retreads in here they are nothing more then mediocre.
Also about passing I think in Buffalo you need an good offensive line and 2 power running backs in order to have success. Any QB in Buffalo (or anywhere else) needs to be protected and due to the weather in Buffalo running the ball down the stretch effectively is key. So before they try and get a QB make sure the O-line is in order first.

Can't say I disagree. Schobel's another guy who's production level is no where near what he's being paid likewise with Kelsay. I wasn't even going to bring them up because I was focusing on Stroud only, but I agree, outside of Kyle Williams the defensive line is truly abysmal. Our LB's aren't very good either, but I think they look even worse playing behind one of the worst D-lines in the league.
The 2002-2007 Schobel is long gone and I would have no problem parting ways with the guy this offseason. If this team is serious about a rebuild they should leave no stone unturned, and the defensive line would be a great place to start.
As a fan I can accept going 4-12 or 5-11 if you're truly going in another direction and starting with a clean state to rebuild a respectable team. But to watch a team like the Bills who simply scratch and claw toward mediocrity ever year has become extremely frustrating. Enough to turn a die hard fan who would never dream of missing a Bills game into one who just doesn't seem to give a shi*t.
Schobel is by far our best pass rusher AND when he is off the field we see that we have no other legit pass rusher. Schobel after a 2 year lull in his career has had a big time bounce back season. He has 7 sacks this season on a defense that gets run on most of the time and on a defense that has him facing tons of double teams. Schobel has a place on this team next season.

Stroud has had a few good games some OK games and a lot of abysmal games. Early on he was playing well at times and OK at times. Then right around the first Miami game he really started to go down hill. Then when DJ got fired he played better when Fewel took over but since that initial surge when Fewel took over we haven't seen much from Stroud.
Now do I think Stroud has a year or two left in the tank as far as being a productive NFL player yes BUT I doubt if he can ever be a near Pro-Bowl player ever again. Should we keep Stroud around for next season? I think we should, in all honesty keep Stroud another season just because I think a change of scenery with a new head coach could possibly return Stroud to form or at least to being a productive player on a consistent level.
But point is very well made that Stroud is far from that elite run stuffer and being 32nd against the run is in part due to his poor and mediocre play this season.

OK enough with the delusions of grandeur of a big name guy coming here. I would like a game changing coach BUT rather then go for someones leftovers we need to start thinking about going to hire a up and coming front office person to handle the GM duties and grab a hot shot coordinator to take over this team.
This team just isn't one that is going to attract a big name head coach so why sit around waiting for one to come. If we can get some up and coming guys from other organizations then we can maybe catch lighting in a bottle and get two guys who build an organization the right way.
I am thinking of Tom Heckert as GM (Current pseudo GM for the Eagles) he has done a good job of stacking the Eagles with talent. Now he isn't the top guy in Philly he is working as GM under Andy Reid who has power over him as Reid is president of football operations and Heckert has come close to leaving Philly for a team willing to make him the top dog. I think Heckert could be had if Ralph and Russ are willing to make him GM and give him the position of president of football operations.
As for coach I am thinking of Russ Grimm (He has been talked about before). Grimm has a rep for building offensive lines and is an offensive guy who instills passion into this team. Grimm is currently the O-coordinator for the Cardinals and was the former offensive line coach for the Steelers and he was a finalist for the Head Coaching job when Cower retired (Media reports even had him getting the job mistakenly).

Invincible was my favorite sports flick, with the Cinderella Man a close second
Sports Movie great category to add I would say that mine would have to be Rocky Balboa a great way to end the Rocky series and a very good film that didn't try to do too much. Honorable mentions - Friday Night Lights and The Replacements (Guilty Pleasure movie).

Other then the 2006 draft and the Maybin pick this season the Bills haven't gone against draft experts like Kiper that often. In 2007 the guy we were picked to draft was Willis if available or Lynch as the backup. Willis was taken and we got Lynch who has pro bowl talent the experts also loved the Poz pick which when healthy he is a good player.
In 2008 we were pegged to take McKelvin (Who was the best corner in the draft) because the Wide reciver crop was very weak and going into that year and other needs weren't quite there either. Experts also were fond of the Hardy pick.
In 2009 we went with Maybin over Orakpo it was a mixed pick with a few experts thinking it was smart and others thinking we were stupid. Wood was viewed as a decent pick while Byrd was looked at as a horrid pick. Levitre was looked at as a good pick. So we went relatively with the experts in 2009 on 3 out of our 4 picks and the one where we went against the grain turned out to be a great pickup.
Now don't get me wrong the 2006 draft was viewed as horrid and it was. We should have bulked up our trenches with Nagta and Mangold. Although we did get more then serviceable players late in the draft with Kyle Williams and Brad Butler.

I am in Bergen County (12 miles from NYC) and its starting to get bad 4-5 inches and still going although it wasn't too bad until 7ish. Too bad about the tickets.

Never been arrested had a few close calls But other then a few youthful boys will be boys situations (Vandalism on mischief night and underage drinking) and one drug episode. Smoked some pot with my friend behind his house (Kind of a patch of trees next to a street) and a cop drove by he came out to investigate but we tossed the roach ran back to his house the cop answered the door and his sister (who was sick and didn't hear us barging in) opened it and told the cop no one was home then the cop left.

no votes for 'The Hangover'?
I put it in my honorable mention list for Comedies but thought that the 40 year old Virgin was a bit funnier and had a lot more character development and a really interesting message (Maybe I am reading too much into the movie). Yeah the Hangover definitely deserves a shoutout.

If anyone hasn't seen the film "Wrestling With Shadows", here's a link I just found off Bret Hart's official site where you can see it for free. It's pretty interesting.
Bret Hart is one class act always great to his fans and without a doubt one of the best wrestlers ever. Its really unfortunate what McMahon and that dirt bag Shawn Michaels did to Bret its one reason I really hate the WWF/E.

Jeff Ireland of the Fins seems like a good fit. Anyway I think if we are going to go out and grab a GM that means we are going to go the coordinator route. Now just because we aren't going to go out and get a Shanny big name type isn't a bad thing. BUT what I want to see is the Bills go out and get a up and coming offensive coordinator type (Think Russ Grimm type) and not a 2nd tier retread like Haslet or Martz.

Great movie, but how is No Country for Old Men considered an action film? I would classify it as a drama. Action film means something that could just as easily star Jean Claude van Damme as the main character, in my mind.
I think you are thinking of the 80's/early 90's type of action movie. To me an action movie is a movie with a lot of duh action. No country for old men had a ton of action in it. Now was the action a little more subdued yes but just because a movie isn't filled with over the top action (not to mention unnecessary explosions and bad catch phrases) doesn't mean its not an action movie.
No country for old men is a movie with a ton of guy getting shot and a ton of other action going on as well. I guess I liked the more gritty and realistic action better then the Die Hard brand because it gave the movie an intensity you rarely get from those types of action movies. I think No Country for Old Men is a movie in which you didn't know if the main character was going to live which actually made the action exciting (You know John McClain isn't going to die).
Bills need to try and catch lighting in a botttle

The difference is Tom Heckert has been high up in the Philly Organization for a while now. And Philly has had very successful draft history in recent years. Modrak and Guy have been nothing more then bad for a while now. How they are still employed by this organization is ridiculous and beyond me. I think Heckert is currently more successful in Philly then Modrak ever was at any point.
To me Heckert is the kind of guy that wants to make his own imprint on a team and wants to step out of Andy Reid's shadow in Philly. So while I see the comparison somewhat I think that its unfair.
