  1. LP Losman is only notable in Buffalo. No other NFL city would care.

Well he is a guy with around 30 NFL starts. As well as mobility and arm strength two things that every team wants and the things he lacks accuracy and good decision making are things many feel are correctable. So he and Vick are the best options out there at QB as well as the biggest names.

  2. Well I am really surprised that Jon Runyon is still out there. If I were a team like the Lions, Bengals, and Chiefs I would want this guy he isn't quite the mauler he once was but still an effective player. He should be employed if he wants to play unless he is asking for too much. Pete Kendell is another guy that could help out a few of the lesser o-lines in the league.

Another guy I am surprised hasn't found work is Toomer I watched him on the Giants and as a slot receiver he is still able to help out a team pick up a few key first downs and pile up 40-60 catches and 4-6 TD's. A team like the Bears or Jets could use him.

As for the rest of the list you have two guys with talent ones a headcase in Burris and Vick could be facing a long suspension and is a big distraction for most. If I was the Bears I would add Burris even if he gets a suspension due to the fact that the Bears so desperately need a WR for Cutler to throw to ;also Toomer or even Marvin Harrison wouldn't be a bad pick up for them. The rest have age or injury concerns which is why they don't have an employer.

  3. Sorry, but buying licensed jerseys does little to support the American economy over the Asian knockoffs. The real mccoy is still manufactured in Asia or Mexico, and the "licensing fees" just line the pockets of the owners. You could make a legitimate argument that their sales help support American sporting goods stores like Dick's, Modells, etc... but they make very little on those things anyway.

It'd be one thing if they were actually manufactured here (in which case I'd go out of my way to buy one), but if they're already coming out of third world countries anyway, the money I save with the knockoff is better spent on things like the couch I went out of my way to purchase that's manufactured by a small business in North Carolina instead of Asia.

True the little guy see little if any of the money made off of jersey sales. Most cloths are made by exploited poor people some of whom are young children. It makes me think that companies that outsource labor should pay bigger taxes if they want to do business in America thus giving them an incentive to hire American.

A lot of people think that these sneaker and clothing companies make a lot of money by outsourcing labor but they don't make that much when you factor in the extra taxes the pay to not only the country they make it in but the export import taxes they pay to America. They also have to pay to ship the raw goods back and forth so when you factor in those costs they only make about 7-12% extra by doing the outsourcing. My ex girlfriend was an economics major and she explained it to me.

But yeah I have no problem buying counterfeit stuff (is this case at least). I try to support small business and local places even if it costs me a little more. I also think there is money to be made in selling Cloths and Sneakers made in America I know a lot of people that would buy them even if they cost a little more (which if you consider the huge profit margin on cloths they might not even have to charge that much more).

  4. i am curious, which console is better for the new madden? xbox or ps3? i haven't played vid games in a while but will get the new madden game

Its the exact same game, they take the 360 version and put it on a blu ray and thats the PS3 version. In Madden 2008 there were some minor issues with the port but now there is no difference. They do that with most sports games that come out on 360 and PS3

  5. What? As a society we regularly associate athletes with alcohol, why is pot worse than that?

Of course, some of the greatest athletes in history performed under the influence of much harsher drugs than pot.

In fact, Dock Ellis claims to have pitched a no-hitter while under the influence of LSD. Mickey Mantle played well while very hungover (and possibly drunk). Same for Babe Ruth, who broke the law regularly, drinking during prohibition, and setting hitting and HR records.

Babe Ruth also missed half a season because he had VD. I don't think an athlete should smoke weed, smoke tobacco, or drink alcohol during the season because those things aren't good for ones body. Once the seasons over if they so choose to indulge in moderation than why not? I understand not wanting them to do weed from a perspective of they can get suspended for using it but other than that reason.

  6. i don't like your reasons. how about let us supply our own reasons. i vote NO on smoking weed, not because i have a moral issue with it, but because it is incongruent with being an athlete.

Would you have a problem with them drinking during the season? and what if they only smoked on occasion during the offseason? Just curious to what extent do you feel that an athlete should hold back on certain behavior. And once the seasons over do your standards change to what an athlete should and shouldn't be doing (in regards to both weed and alcohol). And not saying you are right or wrong just curious to see how you feel.

  7. THIS IS A GREAT IDEA DRIZZ! If we start one with people from TBD the league has a much higher chance of being successful, instead of random people on XBox Live flaking out if their team is bad.

I'm assuming this is XBox360 you're talking about? If you are doing PS3 then I'm out of luck. Otherwise keep this thing going until we get 32 people, do a fantasy draft, and let's do it.

I'm also assuming since you are organizing it, you'd take the Bills as your team. I'll take the Bills if not, but I call the Steelers otherwise. My XBox live name is "Boney Bone Bone"

    Definitely keep this going.

Well if there are enough Madden fans on this board there could always be two leagues on for X-Box 360 and one for PS3. One thing I do hate about Madden online is the d-bags that either quite early when they go down 14-0 or the guy who is winning 24-0 on me keeps running up the score when there is only like 3 minutes to go.

Stick it out and finish the game (besides its only 14-0 and if you really don't want to finish the game if you are down big just offer a mercy quite) and if you have the game run down the clock Madden games take long enough with out you being a dick and trying to throw it just to up your scoring average.

And if I can't get the Bills I will take the Rams or the Browns both have nasty o-lines.

  8. One player who the Bills might look into though is Alex Stepanovich, who just got released from the Falcons (after they signed Newberry). He's started a handful of games in the NFL at Center and I remember the Bills being high on this guy when he was drafted several years ago.

Would be a good depth move at Center and allow us to keep a guy like McKinney focused solely on backing up the Guards.

The Bills are lacking a true backup center. I don't know much about this guy but its a move I could see the Bills making. Even if the Bills don't get Stepanovich I still think they should be in the market for a backup center. Although Wood could shift over but if the FO really wants Wood to be a guard than they need at least another pure center on the roster.

  9. Who's the Boss?

    Linky

    Boss Bailey-LB- Broncos Jun. 17 - 12:36 pm et

    Broncos released LB Boss Bailey.

Despite his offseason microfracture knee surgery, Bailey was thought to be guaranteed a spot after receiving a March roster bonus. The Broncos, flush with linebacker depth after moving to a 3-4 scheme, no longer had room to carry Champ's injury-prone brother. Bailey is not yet recovered enough to practice and admitted he "still has some work to do" to get ready to play with another team.

    Source: National Football Post

You have to pay the cost to be the boss. As far as the injury issue I think its worth a chance. No team is going to be able to give him big money or a long term deal because of it. The Bills should offer a one year incentive latent deal and try to catch lightning in a bottle with this guy. If he goes out and gets injured than oh well we just put in Elison. Its worth the chance.

  10. I picked mine up at dhgate.com We ordered 5 TO throwback jerseys with 50th patch for $125 total. I love it, it's probably a fake, but it looks great, sewn on everything. And nothing says 50 years of Bills tradition quite like Terrell Owens!

Don't necessarily want to get a fake jersey but if I keep hearing good things from everyone on this board than I might have to look into it.

  11. Just reported on Sirius NFL radio that Denver released Boss Bailey. He is still young and if he's over his injuries, he might be an intriguing option instead of Ellison..... Decent size, well-suited to the 4-3 Defense......

The Bills FO defiantly has to look into this. I give them credit for going after Pisa but not breaking the bank for him. If they get the right price than why not when he is healthy he is a lot better than Elison.

  12. Unlike most people i don't hate the preseason. Don't get me wrong I don't like it but i see the purpose for it. I hate when former players say Well I only needed two games to get ready. I think that four games is the right amount. It gives coaches the right amount of time to get special teams and backups in order. Two games isn't enough time to get a team and practice squad in order.

I am also opposed to adding 2 more games to the schedule. The players carers are short enough and the season has enough injuries as is. 16 games is plenty and works well enough. The Superbowl being played near Valentines day just doesn't sit right to me. The season starting before labor day also isn't something I would like to see either.

Also an 18 game schedule would further shorten the carers of players. two more games a year would shorten the playing carers by at least 1-2 years due to the fact that in 8 season it would add another 16 games to the wear and tear of a player. Basically the playing time of a player is already so short that I don't want to see it get any shorter.

  13. Haven't bought a Bills jersey since 2004 and I am looking to pick up a Bills jersey before the season starts. But i don't know where exactly to look or whose jersey to get. Is there anyone here that can recommend a good online place to buy a jersey at a reasonable price (not cheap just looking to pay a fair price.) As far as authentic or replica I don't know yet but if anyone can tell me where is the best place to buy either it would be appreciated.

As far as whose jersey i am going to get I have no clue. I was thinking about Poz because he is Polish but who knows how long he is going to be here. On the offense I was thinking about Edwards but if he blows it this year or gets hurt than that sucks. Another offensive player I was think about getting was Lee Evans.

  14. i have been away from video games for a while. do you do a fantasy style draft and then actually play the games or do you simulate them? what console?

I can't see why they wouldn't let you choose which way you wanted to go. In offline franchise you can pick which way you want and you can play or simulate the games as well. I have no clue how the online stuff works. The consoles that this online franchise is available for are 360 and PS3.

  15. Count me in but I just have a question. Do you go week to week like in real life or can you skip a head at your own pace? I can't imagine why not its your own league so its not tied to anything.

Also i heard that soon you can get a demo at gamestop if you preorder it. And unlike the demo you can get on X-box live its a whole game only you have to play as the Steelers vs the Cardinals. The Demo on X-box live is just one 2 minute drive.

  16. so strength isn't part of being athletic? i'd love to see the nonathlete crush a 400 yard drive down the middle of the fairway!

Really John Daily is strong. Are the guys who drive the ball the longest the guys who can bench the most? Being able to drive the ball far is not a show of strength more of a show of skill generating speed with a golf club enough to drive a ball very far doesn't require great strength. Golf is a GAME that caters to a specific skill set. Even in the sport of hockey the strongest guys don't have the hardest slap shot.

  17. MADD has become a draconian organization that is pretty much anti-alcohol. They are the people that lobbied the federal government to force states to make the drinking age 21. They want all cars to have breathalyzers in them, which don't let you drive even with a .001 BAC. They want to make it illegal to drive with any alcohol in your blood. They want to increase taxes on all alcoholic drinks.

Even MADD's founder left the organization in disgust.

Well the drinking age being 21 was not done just for driving it was done to make it harder for younger kids to obtain alcohol. The logic being that if 18 year olds can drink it makes it easier for 17,16, and 15 year olds to get alcohol due to the fact that a 15,16,and 17 year old is likely to have direct contact with an 18 year old and a lot less likely to have contact with a 21 year old.

Personally I don't mind it due to the fact drinking is more fun when it was illegal and that its true that younger kids can get alcohol easier when the age is 18. Its not that law makers think an 18 to 20 year olds can't handle drinking they know its relatively easy for a 18 to 20 year old to get alcohol and that they aren't the ones they want to keep from obtaining alcohol

As for the rest of those things its pretty much true that MADD has taken their message to the extreme to the point of being PETA to the point were they may be hurting there cause more than they are helping it.

  18. LMAO, how about we compare Tiger Woods to David Wells, Langston Walker, and Shawn Bradley. Golf is a sport. You don't have to be a great athlete to play or even in great condition, but it certainly helps. Much like baseball, the game revolves around having great eye hand coordination and concentration. I understand your argument but I think it's just a different kind of sport.

Yes but David Wells, Shawn Bradley, and Langston Walker were limited to how good they were because they were not athletic. Wells couldn't field his position that well due the fact he wasn't athletic. Walker was better suited for the right side of the line because he wasn't as athletic as other tackles. Shawn Bradly sucked because he didn't have enough strength to compete with more athletic big men.

Tiger woods or any golfer isn't going to be limited in any way by their nonathletic ability. Which makes it a game not a sport.

  19. You go around calling it "not a sport", and then you don't even bother to state your definition of "sport". My definition is any physical activity governed by a specific set of rules or customs and engaged in competitively.

By my definition, golf is a sport. What's your definition?

By that definition there is no difference between a sport and a game. If you can't tell if someone is athletic or nonathletic by how they play it than its not a sport. In golf can I tell if any golfer is athletic by only looking at how they play golf? No you can't because golf is not a sport.

  20. i have heard the dead man was an illegal immigrant running across the street to catch a bus home after his construction shift. perhaps his illegal status played a part in the decision, you koow, meaning he's treated and thought of as a fraction of a human being

Doesn't mean its right even if he was an illegal. He is still someones father, brother, and husband. But I get what you are saying the justice system isn't going all out for an illegal that has little money. It is really sad though.

  21. I voted no. In this country and society Alcohol is not only legal but glorified and able to be advertised on TV. Alcohol has just as bad health effects as pot and is more addicting from a physical stand point(pot while not physically addicting is mentally addictive) I am personally for the legalization of pot. So why should I care if my favorite football teams players do it? As long as they don't drive while doing it I am fine.

The money we could be getting from the taxes on the sale of pot is going to organized crime rather than our government which really needs it right now. We are wasting tax payer money with law enforcement man hours and clogging up our court system with cases of people getting arrested for simple possession of small amounts.

There is no real reason for Pot to be illegal. Unlike hard drugs like Crack and Coke you can't get physically addicted very fast (and even die from the first time you use them). Unlike those drugs pot doesn't rapidly destroy your body. I put pot on the level of alcohol and tobacco yes they are harmful and addictive but it is your right to choose to indulge and if you can't do so in moderation than don't.

Personally I haven't done pot since high school and wouldn't do so even if it was legalized (ok maybe once for old times sake) its not like I really want to do it, its just that I find it a waste of time to fight it when like I said things that are just as bad like Alcohol and Tobacco are legal

  22. The crime holds that sentence if he went to trial, which he did not. He has accepted a plea bargain. Also, there were more circumstances than him driving with a blood alcohol level over the legal limit, including the pedestrian illegally crossing on a busy multiple lane street.

I understand the circumstances but even when you take into account the fact that the guy was illegally crossing a busy street he should still get more than 30 days. At the bare minimum give him a year in jail. If I was the family i would want 2 years. I understand why it was not going to be a four year sentence but 30 days is really low for what he did.

  23. The judge is judging him, not me. He can rot for any sentence he gets thanks to his actions.

Than can't the same logic be used for Vick as well? The american justice system gave him his punishment and now that he has served it why can't he come back and get a job if a team wants him to play?

  24. If Stallworth doesn't get the same or worse suspension than Vick I am going to puke. He killed a guy because he was too lazy to call a cab or car service (which he had plenty of money to do so). His actions were so irresponseable and now a man is dead. Stallworth is just as bad as Vick in my opinion and Vick served almost two years in jail for what he did Stallworth is only going to do a month.

If Vick gets a year suspension in the NFL and Stallworth gets a slap on the wrist four game suspension than I will be so pissed you will never hear the end of it. If guys like Leonard Little and Stallworth play but Vick can't than we truly as a society have started to care more about animals than our fellow man. Honestly I hear the ban Vick because he is bad for business angle but why wouldn't having a guy like Stallworth be bad for business? Just because the Stallworth case isn't as high profile doesn't mean it can't shape the image of the NFL.

As for 30 days in jail and 1000 hours of community service you have to be kidding me. I understand that Stallworth didn't intend for any of this to happen but he has to loose a little more than that. If that was my brother or someone really close to me I would want Stallworth to go to jail for at least 2 years to punish him for what he did. Take away a few Years of his life and from his playing time. Once he has served his time he can go back and play.

  25. Hmm. Some very interesting responses in here.

I was glad to see Wilt Chamberlain get mentioned. He was known for his basketball prowess, but he also was a very fast and incredibly strong athlete. Meadowlark Lemmon once said of how Chamberlain, when he was playing w/ the Harlem Globetrotters, could throw him up in the air and catch him. Lemon was 'bout 210 @ the time. Wow.

Here's my short list (haha, yeah right):

    Olympians

    Jim Thorpe

    Rafer Johnson

    Jesse Owens

    Carl Lewis

    Babe Didrickson Zaharias

    Jackie Joyner Kersee

    Wilma Rudolph

    Football

    Jim Brown

    Tony Gonzalez

    Deion Sanders

    Bo Jackson

    Baseball

    Willie Mays

    Roberto Clemente

    James Bell

    Basketball

    Wilt Chamberlain

    Michael Jordan

    Kobe Bryant

    Hakeem Olajuwon

    Other Sports

    Tiger Woods

    Bjorn Borg

    Michael Chang

    Roger Federer

    Muhammad Ali

    Sugar Ray Robinson

Golf is not a sport. Hitting a stationary ball with no one at all even in the form of noise interfering isn't a sport. OH BUT ITS ON ESPN yeah well so is Poker and Dominoes. OH BUT YOU CAN'T DO WHAT THEY DO I WANT YOU SEE YOU DO IT well I can't juggle does that make juggling a sport? Comparing Tiger Woods to Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretzky, Martian Brodeur, Hank Arron, or any great NFL player is insulting them.
