I don't even think Solomon is on the Team after week 6. It wouldn't shock me if he doesn't even make it out of camp. He belongs on the PS.

I think they would rather IR him than try to sneak him on the PS. I think he flashed a little last year and he was a mid round pick who’s not looked completely lost out there. He’s also a more bend driven pass rusher which this team doesn’t have a lot of the coaching staff may like the diversity.

Kingsley Jonathan hung around from mid 2022 through camp in 2024 and I think Solomon is a much better prospect and one that was drafted by this team.

I will say - Asante Samuel Sr. comes from a career under Belichick and Brady - there was ZERO ego that was allowed to interrupt Brady and Belichick as the organization leaders.

Miami has (or had) Hill/Ramsey/Chubb/Wilkins who all spoke more than they could play in their tenure.  That team lacks any cohesive leader.  They have banded up for Tua during his injuries, but that has fallen apart after the Coach and GM do a poor job building and running the team to elevate their play further.

Coach and GM will be gone after this year - Hill will want out, and they will start a retool around Waddle/Tua/Achane - which I dont think will work.

Miami and the Jets are a collective of talent as opposed to a cohesive team. The Bills in addition to Josh Allen also have a cohesive team concept that while infuriating at times does make sense and leads to wins

Bills being 5th is kinda bizarre tbh.  Rousseau and Oliver are plus starters but not superstars. Is this based on rookies?

PFF has been gushing about the Bills defensive acquisitions. They really liked the Hoecht acquisition and think Bosa even if he just gives the Bills 10-12 games those games will be a big positive. They also think the draft depth and Larry O acquisition make the defensive line fairly deep.

  4. He’s likely gonna be a niche role player but they have Gilliam as a good blocking fullback so I don’t think they will use Hawes as a fullback.

I would be interested to see if they flex Knox into the backfield sometimes. Knox isn’t as good a blocker as Gilliam would be out the backfield but Knox is a solid blocker and a much better receiver than Hawes likely is at this point.

It's a shame he took the bag with the Jets instead of going to a decent organization. He was just a shade under a Hall of Fame caliber player in his prime with the Ravens.

He never had a big contract with the Ravens so he took the money in a business decision. Can’t blame him as that was his only big bite at the apple. He still was a good player with the Jets even made an All Pro in 2022 with them.

    So many jokes here...

Steelers fans are dying off though. I don't know if I've met a Steelers fan under 30. For living in NC that's quite exceptional. Every die hard or fringe Steelers fan is over 35 here. The remnants of the holdover of the fans who's parents had the Steel curtain and went through he Bettis, Big Ben years who saw glory.

I'm tired of people saying the Steelers travel well. They don't travel, they're already there! Pittsburgh is a very spread out city that enveloped the entire region that died off and sent transplants packing. I wish there was metric for air traffic to debunk this.

The only caveat to fans traveling somewhere relates to location/temperature. Someone in Minnesota, Buffalo, New England, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, or a colder climate is going to be a lot more apt to spend the money and fly south for a good game with warm weather than someone from New Orleans or Houston saying "hey, I can't wait to go to Minnesota for the Saints @ Vikings in December and we can check out [checks notes] the Mall of America and Walker Museum, and have great Minnesota food¹"

The cowboys fans always pack stadiums full because... Nevermind. Too many "insensitive" jokes can be made.

Like, literally, the only people who like the cowboys are dumb as *****.

    ¹Minnesota doesn't have unique food.

I know plenty of Steelers fans in their 30's and 40's so it isn't quite as dying off a fanbase as you mentioned. But I do agree that under 30 Steelers fans aren't as common as they used to be. The 2000's and early 2010's era built off the "mystique" of the 1970's era. The Steelers played in 3 Super Bowls from 2005-2010 and won 2 of them. So I don't think the fanbase is running on fumes from the 1970's. I will say that the Steelers "mystique" that was built during the 70's and further cemented with the Big Ben era is starting to dwindle since Big Ben's decline and retirement. The Steelers haven't won a playoff game since 2016 and they were last really a threat in 2017 when they got a bye but got bounced by the Sacksonville Jags. Then in 2020 they had a good record but faded down the stretch and were never really a threat.

Since 2018 they have been relevant for one year in 2020 and even that year they faded down the stretch and got bounced early. So it's getting late early for the Steelers so to speak as larger non-local fan bases will eventually age out if you just don't have a competitive sphere. Even Dallas despite a marketing machine and back to back "Good" QB's in Romo and Dak still have declined nationwide because they haven't made any deep playoff runs since the 90's.

  7. Martin was a stable reliable punter. He didn't have many booming kicks but he also didn't have many shanks either. He also was solid at pinning teams in deep when punting from beyond the Bills 40. Bills just need one of these guys to come in and not screw things up. I thought the Bills would have spent a late round pick on a punter but they clearly liked what they had.

$12.5M was my "Beane top number".  I think Beane sticks to it.  Cook will test the market in March and end up taking that deal.

His 2026 cap hit would be manageable and in 2027 Knox and Samuel come off the books.

That's the year I see them starting to push Josh's money way out too.

    IMO FWIW.

I do think given how Brady values not only a traditional running game but also running backs that can catch the ball well I think Beane is going to be willing to pay a good price for Cook but he's not gonna overpay for him either. 12-12.5 seems like a fair we are willing to pay you but not over pay you type number.

  9. I think the "sweet spot" for the CFBP is 6 teams. It allows for the top 2 ranked teams to really have a good incentive to get a bye and a home playoff game to get into the National Championship while still having a wide enough field where you don't feel like no enough teams make it.

Very impressive! Both drafted relatively close too. I would be absolutely ecstatic if JS turned out to be half of the player Dumervil was. One of the more underrated pass rushers in NFL history, IMO. You don’t see many guys who are sub-6 feet having that type of impact rushing the passer. I’m pretty convinced that Solomon would’ve been a high 1st rounder w/ more prototypical measurables.

People will scoff at his 2 sack total last year, but he did it buried deep on the depth chart under a coach who notoriously hates rookies. It showed me that he can beat pro level offensive tackles.

Joey Bosa’s health will greatly determine his level of production next year. I think the Bills are well prepared either way with an “assume the worst/hope for the best” mindset. For once, I am actually very content w/ the DL as a complete unit. I think Beane nailed the draft. Free Agency was a different story… 🤷‍♂️

Dumervil had 105.5 career sacks, 2 time first team All-Pro, 5 time Pro-Bowler, he was the NFL sacks leader in 2009, and played for 13 years. Dumervil was a borderline hall of famer (not quite at that level but his resume wasn't far off compared to a lot of Hall of Fame Players). If Solomon is that kind of find in the mid-rounds that's a pick that could win this team a Super Bowl.

I love Solomon, I see him as more of a Lorenzo Alexander/Haason Reddick type of player than as a pure DE.

Can he develop into a SLB who can also stop the run in heavy sets is the question I have.

I think we can expect about 5-6 sacks out of him while also serving as a STs ace.. Maybe more..

    Fun player..

Interesting enough I also like Hoecht in that flex role across the defense. Solomon I don't know too much about as far as a fit in that way but I think he's got some pass rush upside and is less of a power rusher than some of the other DE's on the roster.

With Hoecht suspended, it still makes Solomon 5th in the pecking order to me.

With Bosa being a walking injury waiting to happen (he's already been dinged up before Training Camp) and him not going to take so much as 50% of snaps, Jackson being a 3rd Rounder that has never played a down in the league, and Hoecht suspended - I don't see AJ being moved until Hoecht is in the lineup (if at all).

We've only got the minimum 5 we keep at DE for Week 1-8 as it is. If we have an injury and we've moved on from AJE, we'd be short handed and relying on Jackson and Solomon. I don't see that happening.

So, yeah, long story short - with Hoecht in the lineup or not, Solomon is looking at 5th in the pecking order at best in my eyes. Which is the role he had last season. Jackson will be in Smoot's role.

Jackson is a 3rd round rookie, he's gonna be in line to get those Smoot snaps but if Solomon proves to be having a better camp/pre-season he could jump him.

  13. 15 hours ago, BillsFanForever19 said:

My expectations are that he'll be on the 53, but we shouldn't want to see much of him. With the depth at Defensive End we have, if we're noticing him on the field very often - that means we've had injuries.

With Hoecht suspended there's gonna by some time for Jackson or Solomon to slot into that "Dwyane Smoot" back end DE rotation role.

Cause they just blew close to 60% of their salary cap on 4 players.

Wouldn't draft picks be exactly what you need? Cheap cost controlled talent? This is your first round pick too, your best asset in the draft a player that if you do need some pass rush help might be able to make a big difference or at least provide something positive for a desperate defense and develop into a key player? Why spend the 17th overall pick on a player to just not invest in them?

  15. Josh deserved the win but dam what a great MVP race this was in hindsight. Lamar and Josh put together seasons that in most years would be MVP's by a mile but credit to Lamar he put up an amazing season to put the thing in doubt also Barkley had an amazing RB year that got him into the conversation and Burrow's stats were also incredible.

I remember when the Raiders were poor...

then they moved to LV and now Davis has boatloads of cash

Didn't Davis have to sell a minority stake in the team to be able to afford to keep up more? I'm sure the move to Vegas helped but I do think they got some liquidity by selling 15-20% of the team at a good evaluation.

We'd always just restructure Allen's deal and I figured the Bengals would do the same thing with Burrow.  They didn't.  They did the right thing in re-signing two guys at premium positions coming off their rookie contracts.  That's really good business.  It's just the contract structure on Burrow, Higgins, and Chase's deals are unusual.  They're not back loaded at all.  Chase in particular actually will count more against the cap this year than he would've on his 5th year option.  That's crazy for a team shooting for the Super Bowl.  If they don't nail their draft picks of doing business this way they're screwed.

I give Burrow if he's somewhat healthy and not damaged goods two years before he asks out of Cincy similar to Carson Palmer. The Bengals owner is one of the most broke and notoriously cheap in the NFL. If they can't put together a good coaching staff, good offensive line, and decent defense around him and he's stuck for the next two seasons playing behind a bad O-line and a defense that can't stop anyone with a lackluster coaching staff Burrow's gonna get 31 after 2026 I can't see him wanting to spend the rest of his prime in that situation.

If I were a team looking for a QB in the 2026 NFL draft I would be very interested in trading down to acquire picks for 2027 to make a play for Burrow. Any extra picks esp a first would be insanely helpful to facilitating a trade.

  18. Get R Done Beane. In all seriousness I wouldn't mind seeing Alexander if he's a scheme fit come here. But I think the Bills likely view themselves as "good" at corner. They swapped Douglas with Tre as the "veteran" option and drafted two players at corner and for insurance brought back Dane for backend competition. Adding Alexander while I would like it as I think he's got a better chance than Tre at producing starting quality play I just don't think the Bills staff is gonna move around or have the money to pay Alexander more than a team that's got the cap space and is a little more thirsty at corner.

Tre/Dane were the Bills vet/depth additions while adding two picks including pick 30 also solidified the spot. While I think Alexander would be better than Tre it just isn't a move I would see the Bills making.
