  1. Round 1 pick 1 - BPA Round 1 pick 2 - BPA Round 2 Pick 1 - BPA Round 2 pick 2 - BPA ...
  2. i think the challenge for the Bills is that by the time the core of needed new key players are up and running, the current core will deteriorate: OL: Incognito is 34 and Eric Woods is 31 RB: Shady is 29 DL: Kyle is 34, Jerry Hughes is 29, Dareus is potentially cut With that current core out of the medium / long term plan, what do we have? Cordy Glenn Shaq Lawson Preston Brown? Tre White EJ Gains Jordan Poyer Micah Hyde That is the group of guys you really root for to improve. And you hope Hughes, Wood, and Shady can defy father time for a year or two longer than average. But essentially, we have a secondary in place with a single piece on each of the lines... Need a QB (depending on your TT view) and need people at every skill position, and need new LBs (-do you consider Preston Brown a core building block?)
  3. wait, so we need a franchise QB ASAP, but only if he costs the right amount??? So if you have a mediocre starter at a value, is that better for you guys than making a franchise QB the highest paid player in the league? short of Joe Montana for veteran minimum money, what is it you want? point being, if you are anti Tyrod, there are 12 or so QBs in the league you have to be willing to pay top dollar for regardless of what that does for your cap. If you are instead thinking of value, you have to at least consider Tyrod as a good option at his price tag. cant have it both ways...
  4. i agree w the OP. The week leading up to Denver there probably was a more critical eye on the offensive gameplan, and you could see the play calling step shift toward TTs strengths (rolling out, play action, short / intermediate drag routes). Maybe they would have done that anyways bc opponent dictates it, but I think if we were 2-0 they would have thought "if it aint broke dont fix it" rather than "we need to change it up". Have no idea if that would have meant we win or lose the next games, too many variables to guess at that...
  5. Looking at that schedule and assuming we beat one of TB or Oak, lets say we go 11-5 for sake of argument. We will have 2 late 1st round picks and a bunch of ammo in the 2nd and 3rd rounds next year...do we: 1) trade our two first rounds and chunk of our ammo to move up for a QB 2) stand pat and draft a bounty of WRs, OLs, and LBs If Option 1), is there anything we could do this year (win the SB) that would change your choice?
  6. Not to turn this into another TT dominated thread, but worth reiterating three of your points: 1) Ryan threw 40 times and lost (to the TT doesnt throw for 300 yards crew) 2) Matt Ryan left plays on the field (to the TT is the only QB in the league that misses throws) and 3) agree if TT threw that 4th down pass for the game people would be going nuts Also, McD said on the 4th and goal they lined up to see if they got a certain look. If they did, they would have run a play for the TD, if they didnt, they would take the -5yds and kick. That is smart, free option. They didnt get the look they wanted, so they kicked.
  7. If i told you last April that the Chiefs would win the superbowl this year, would you with perfect hindsight trade pick #10 for pick #27, pick #91, and what would become then pick #32 in 2018?? I would have in a second.
  8. Two games into the season, Shaq is probably tied w Tre White for 4th best defender on the team behind Kyle, Hughes, and Poyer... probably the entire team at this point if you consider shady and the line had a really good game and a really bad game so far at this point whereas the D has had two great games. This thread is ridiculous. Shaq haters, just admit that his first two games this year look like a radical improvement over his injury plagued rookie year, and it's POSSIBLE he continues to get better given he's only started a few games in his career. This way, you can go away without admitting you are wrong, and you also can back off your ridiculous position while saving face. We can check back in 8 to 12 weeks and see what's what.
  9. Yea seriously. We are 1-0. Our defense was dominant against the run, which made the opponent play one dimensional football. If we played like that every week we will be in decent shape. Everyone relax with the hot takes.
  10. what does CARs front 4 look like and how does it compare to the Jets? I suspect if our guys held up this well against a known good front in NYJ, we should probably give TT a fair amount of clean pockets next week
  11. To name people not already discussed UP: -Fitzpatrick - Feel semi-confident with him at backup. -McKelvin - Its ok by me if he gets toasted every now and again if he keeps picking the ball off like he has been... -Our Scouts & Front-Office - I feel we have a good crop of rookies this year, both early and deep in the draft. Wood & Levitre will make an instant impact, Harris looks promising, and Lankster looks like a dynamic playmaker in the secondary. In addition to the rookies, i give the FO and Juron credit for building such a strong and deep secondary. McGee and McKelvin are a great apir. Corner has been good and so has Lankster. Not to mention WHitner and another potential ballhawk in Byrd. I think the Secondary is very solid. I agree that it has come at a price to other positions (OL / DL), but at least they have delivered a result with the focus they have placed on the DB and S spots. DOWN: - Our Front Office - Sign Maybin already...we have a contender here and need him to be up to speed. - Dick Juron's barber - DJ was looking a little light on top last night...might not need a barber at all in a few years... - Steve Tasker & Ray Bentley in the booth - As players, good, as commentators, not so good.
  12. You do know they stretched out the ratings, don't you? Gone are the days of everyone being rated over 70. The new madden ratings have 70 as the average. Players in the 70s are basically average starters, 80s are good players, and 90s pretty much reserved for the elite players. I feel that most of the Bills players are rated right where they should be. True, but Lee's speed is 97 and (i think) McKelvin is faster...I think i read somewhere lat year that he is the new fastest on the team...
  13. I would think the Bills got some consideration, but in the end, if Dallas didnt make it with Aikman, Emmit, and Irving, the Bills weren't gonna make it with Jimbo, Thurman, and Andre... I also would put the 2007 Pats at #1...well, except for their superbowl performance!
  14. Despite how ridiculous the rookie system is, you can see how it works. Sanchez signs this contract and say next year Tom Bray's contract is up...instantly he is guaranteed to make more $ than Sanchez. In fact, Brady might be a bad example bc he might make more than Sanchez already (i didnt look it up)...so lets say Trent Edwards has a good season and his contract comes up. Say the Bills go 11-5 and win a wild card. Sayt Edwards makes the pro bowl as #3/ alternate behind Manning and Brady. You think with his contract up he's gonna make LESS than $10mm/yr. Not gonna happen. I agree its a stupid system, but you can see why the players association likes it. It drives up current players value without them having to do anything...Edwards would not have to outperform Manning or Brady to justify their money, he would have to outperform Sanchez and Alex Smith....a path of less resistance to more $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
  15. "The Jackson Five" (when the lineup is Evens, Owens, 2 of Reed/Parrish/Johnson/Hardy, and Fred Jackson in the RB motioning to the slot). No huddle that against a 4-3 from the get go... 7-0 with 12:30 left in the 1st quarter every game... Final score will still be 27-7 bad-guys, but hey, babysteps...
  16. Was just going to say this...good point. I would think the Wildcat is less effective and i bet the dolphins finish below .500.
  17. Now with Owes being another legit option for Edwards, I think we can afford to leave Marshawn and Fred back to assist with the blocking as well. If Marshawn can consistently pick up the 3-4 rusher and help chip the 4-3 blindside end, Edwards should have more time to throw on the majority of plays. That will allow Evans to actually get down the field before the ball is out or Edwards is on his back, which should open up Owens and the slot/TEs in the 10-20 yard space that Evans stretches the DBs out in. The lack of another offensive weapon in the passing game besides Lee last year caused MANY problems for not only our passing game, but also our running game, and our confidence that we can come from behind as well (Changing our defensive and overall gameplans). An issue in one area can affect all other aspects of the team...im REALLY glad we have Owens, I think that will make a HUGE difference.
  18. After Maybin Dick got Wood, but still wasn't done after Byrd so he went and got Levitre...
  19. We can only assume that now with Owens, the Bills FO does not think TE is as big of an impact position. Besides running 3 & 4 WR sets, I also like getting Lynch and Jackson together in on passing downs...
  20. http://espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=buf First video, McShay has us as winners.
  21. Levitre was a good pick...He can play each position on the line and with so many new parts / people moving around, you can't have enough options. If he doesnt see the field because the other 5 play well and dont get injured, thats not a bad problem to have. And besides, except for Pettigrew who we couldnt get anyway, all the other TEs are still there (Cook, Nelson, Ingram, Coffman, etc). Agree LB is an issue still...can Maybin play OLB on 1st and 2nd down, and replace Kelsay on 3rd???
  22. And versatility...Between Levitre and Wood, we just got an extra player (first day player for that matter) at every OL position....
  23. fyi- he played tackle as well http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gp5Cqr38zNE
  24. ummm...so i read up on him and then found this....sure, its not the SEC, but WOW
