  1. I wouldn't be surprised to see us keep all three. Chan wants to pound the ball and throw a short passing game ala Brady and the Pats. Slants, sidelines and slot stuff to Spiller will be featured. It's not a bad way to establish a new offense and to make the Bills a tough team to play. Pounding Jackson, Lynch and changing up with Spiller is going to be fun to watch.

The pats pound the ball and throw short passes? Look, you could have 10 1500 yard RBs on the team, it won't make us any better. You have to throw the ball. No amount of RB talent will change the poor passing performance of our QBs and Chan's record as an OC reveals a history of lackluster passing games.

  2. The problem with what you say is that the NFL is a legal monopoly. While you can argue they "compete" for entertainment dollars the reality is that their pricing structure does not face the ravages of a true market. Personally I hope the Jests black out all of their games. Wouldn't that be a nice turn of events for the league to deal with - largest TV market in the country has half of their season blacked out.

I don't have to "argue" this--it is actually true. That's the point of this story.

The Jets "pricing structure" IS facing the ravages of the true market---that's what this topic is about: at the current price, they can't sell the seats.

Geez, in the same market--hell, in the same building, the Giants have had no such trouble because their tickets are appropriately priced.

    Come on!

  3. The season is still months away, but is the NFL really prepared going to let games be blacked out in its biggest market because of an owner's greed? Wow.

What should the League do? Make the Jets owner lower his prices? Did he make Jerry Jones lower his PSL prices? Or any other owner?

  4. It's really sickening what the NFL has turned into.

How is this on the NFL? This is the business side of the game. PSLs are not anyhting new---they help pay for new stadiums. The market will determine what happens to those seasts.

Jax has empty seats because not enough people want to pay whatever tickets cost to see that team--hence the blackouts. Similarly, not enough Jets fans want to pay for that much to watch the Jets live. Woody Johnson will simply have to change his stance on pricing as the year goes on if he can't sell them at their currrent prices. That's the way it works.

  5. I think he lets way too many punts bounce and roll 20 yards down the field. Not sure if he misjudges a lot of punts or is trying to pad his punt return average, but he was a negative factor in a lot of games last year. He is too small and not powerful enough to break tackles as a WR. As a punt returner, he operates in space that you don't get playing offense or even returning kicks. He's a great punt returner when he actually catches the ball, but his contract and Spiller + McKelvin probably means he doesn't make the team.

I agree--I have posted this in the past. The guy racks up a "record" punt return average, but doen'st actually return a lot of punts.

And to the "if used properly" crowd, what exactly should they do with him? What did you see when he was a receiver (not of punts) that made you think he is a good WR? What has the coaching staff been missing? The guy struggles to catch the ball and run downfield.

  6. IMO are D is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. The D was just on the field almost double the oposition. They were gassed by the 2nd half because the O could not sustain any drives to rest our D.

No they weren't. Our offensive TOP was 28:12.

I agree if you watched the games you could see Poz is a very good MLB. The problem with hte defense was that we have NO offense.....if the defense was off the field for 5-6 more minutes a game do you think they would be better? Of course they would.

If the offensive TOP was 5 or 6 minutes longer, it would, by far, be the best in the league--maybe an NFL record.

Look, the time the offense is on the field doesn't matter---so few minutes separate the best from the worst in that category. It's what the team does when it's on the field. This offense doesn't score. That's it.

However, teams ran all over Poz and the front seven. It's still their job to get off the field.

  7. You speak with passion and I respect that. But really do you know how to build a winning franchise if so you should be making millions to do so. Otherwise let the proffessionals build the team.

Come on! Let the pros build the team, huh? That's your comeback? Didn't the "pros" BUILD this team?? Don't they every year?

So what am I saying look at what an incompetent coach did with this team 7-9 I think chan this season gives us +2 becuase he knows QBS and offensive game planning that is 9-7 yeah probably not the playoffs but a couple of good bounces and maybe we slide in. Other then that we are ready to make the playoffs next footabll season.

You should go back and take a look at CG's passing offenses while he has been an OC in this league.

  8. No they will keep him because they like what he brings to the table and they want to develop him, it makes no sense to draft a guy you want to develop, then cut him.

Even if you think the other 3 QBs are better?

  9. I think Roscoe is a lock because of his versatility and experience. He's not a liability out there -- I honestly believe our prior coaching staff just didn't know how to use him.

They had him as apunt returner. That's what he was good at.

As a receiver, he's not good. He can't avoid a tackle unless, like in punt returns, he gets about 10-15 yards before the first contact.

  10. Bengals?? See: their last two games of the 2009 season. They are awful.

Jets? Not this year, but thye could win the AFCE. Anyone who says they are "overrated" is whistling past the graveyard and shouldn't be taken seriously.

Ravens? Maybe. I love how one poster says this is "a make or break year for Flacco"----amazing the stuff people post here.

Don't see Ravens getting past Indy.

  11. How has Brohm shown "as much as Trent or Fitzpatrick"?? They have both started and won actual, real live NFL games. All Brohm has done is managed to get demoted to GB's practice squad.

I am hoping we get lucky with Levi but even if that happens, it won't be until next year.

Surprised you are the only one who picked up on this incredibly silly claim.

The math is that Brown is at-worst the 3rd QB. Who among the other 3 gets cut remains to be seen.

You can tell that Brown, right now, is as least as good as Brohm (a guy you were screaming for last season) and perhaps Fitz and TE?

  12. Nix and Gailey had him pegged specifically. They said they plan on developing this kid so I can see him challenging for the job in 2011 IF there is a non lockout 11 season

Do the math. They are not going to carry 4 QBs.

The likelihood that Brohm is named starter on opening day is very low. So it's either TE or Fitz. If it's TE, no way they let Fitz goa and have Brohm and Brown as the backups. Fitz is a solid backup---crucial in this league. You can't let him go.

That leaves Brown as the obvious man out. He had one good year in a bush conference. I have to believe Brohm is better.

  14. There's some interesting stuff in the article but the report of a potential lockout is old news. DeMaurice Smith said that on a scale of 1-10 the chances of a lockout are a 14. Whether this turns into a lockout or a strike is the only question I think.

I'm not sure that if the league declares a lockout if the players would still have to be paid.

    Lockout=no pay for the players.
