  1. Well no. I don't have a basement actually. I saw a few Alabama games this year and I've seen whatever shred of video there is to see on Andre Smith. He looks much better going forward than backward and he has great lower body strength. He seems to have trouble in space. Looks like a mauler better suited to guard or right tackle which is alright. It's just not the same as being an elite left tackle.

So I take it you believe he will be an elite left tackle?

If Peters is an example of "an elite left tackle", why can't this guy be one?

  2. its not being a conspiracy theorist, he is telling the truth, jerry jones admits that is basically what happend. All you heard after the release from JJ is that his advisors and those close to him kept pushing him, saying he was too much of a liability, and he caved in. JJ would love TO to still be with the stars

Since his arrival to Buffalo I have noticed that everything this guy does is blown out of proportion, the media likes a bad guy, and TO is it.

This conspiracy theory you speak of doesnt really touch on that because it is the truth and the dallas brass themselves will admit to it.

Would you say the stuff he did before he joined the Bills was also "blown out of proportion?" Just curious as to what you are using for comparison.

  3. Oakland

    San Diego

    San Francisco

    New Orleans

    Minnesota

This list is off the top of my head, all dumps.

Please improve the mens bathrooms with the county money. The John by Section 116 has one 3 foot opening for both entering and exiting. It is a freaking disaster! The troths are a nice touch though.

Really. Come on VJ! That wasn't a tough list to come up with.

And yeah, forgot about the workman's comp and travel----that'll eat through $78 million in a hurry!

The owners who are on the hook for $100's of millions in stadium debt are already tired of Ralph's "po' me" stuff, so doubt they would be laughing.

By the way, Indy lost $17 million over the 2006 season---the year they won the SB.

As someone already said "I would rather have a bad team than no team at all"----Ralph knows this and those words have made him a very rich man.

  4. Yes, it's "obvious" that the only reason the Cards haven't traded Boldin is because they haven't gotten the right offer for him. Just like it's "obvious" that TO will become a distraction if he doesnt get at least 70 catches for 1000+ yards and 10 TD's.

"Obviously" there's no point in continuing to discuss things any further with you. Because nothing will ever change.

If you chose to believe that teams are staying away from Boldin for the same reason they were lining up to tell the world the didn't want TO, and if you chose to ignore the history of TOs tenure in the league re: his inability to behave in a way that most athletes feel is acceptable, and if you chose not to directly answer simple questions....then I agree, there is no point in continuing.

  5. Wow. Stop watching your old MTV videos of Michael Jackson and Duran Duran and come back to us here in the 21st Century. Ralph Wilson is a modern day hero for not selling this franchise to the highest bidder or moving it to a richer city that resides in a County that isn't broke anytime over the past 20 years or so. The County is broke? No kidding. Do you think that's why Wilson and his marketing guru Brandon are now considering adding a second regular season home game to Toronto, under the guise of keeping the franchise viable for Western New York?

Actually, Ralph is most likely kicking himself for being so loyal to Buffalo all these years. Now that the entire American economy is in the tank, he can only envision tens of millions of dollars lost for his heirs when the team is finally sold. For all he knows, he may live to see the day that the entire NFL goes broke under the weight of the economy sinking any further towards a depression. He may be thinking: "If I only would have taken a trip to Baltimore before my old buddy Modell got there?....or Nashville before my old buddy Adams got there...!"

Are you joking?. Why on earth would Ralph ever leave Buffalo?? It would cost him a TON of money.

Ralph has made a boatloads of money in poor old Buffalo because he has a fairly unique situation. He has no stadium debt. He has no debt from purchasing the team. His expenses are salaries and rent. Although his team is in the bottom half in revenue, it does very well in profits. He has profitted $100 million over he past 4-5 seasons, after expenses, before taxes. His tossing a few games to Toronto netted him another $78 million---which he does not share with the rest of the league. On top of inheriting the $100 million+ in the bank, the family will get another massive windfall when they sell the team.

Exactly what is Ralph missing out on? Moving to Baltimore or Tennesse were never considered. There were rumors about Houston, but that move would have cost Ralph hundreds of millions in contributions to new a new stadium and a league moving fee.

Selling to the highest bidder? Why---when his $25,000 investment is still earning him 1000 times that per year? The buyers are always going to be there when he sells (or dies)----and the value of the team never goes down.

To recap: low investment long ago paid off, no real debt, huge profits every year, low risk ($120 million free money from the NFL TV contract each year, guaranteed; rabid fans who sell-out stadium even when team sucks-and even with local economy in shambles), and you can name your price when you are ready to sell.

Hmmmm. Gonna have to think about this a little more?

The NFL may go broke due "the depression"?? Is that what happened during the actual depression beginning in 1929---professional sports "went broke" and disappeared?? If the NFL went broke today, Ralph would walk away as one of the richest owners in the league, while guys like Jones, Kraft and Snyder would be financially ruined.

This may be one of the greatest sports-related investments ever. Yeah, ol' Ralph's kicking himself all right----or pinching himself to see if he has been dreaming all these years.

The Bills have been very good to Ralph over the years. But has that "modern day hero" been good to the Bills while he has pocketed over $200 million over the past 10 years?

Lori, about the lease--I agree that the Bills are holding the County to it. But not sure what their recourse is if the money is not there--other than suing the county, which will carry on beyond the term of the lease, and the repairs will still not get done.

  6. That steak is pretty tough to chew on no? I remember the glory days, and I'm not getting any younger. I don't like making predictions about any one game, particularly since we don't even know the entirety of the team that we will be putting on the field come that Monday Night Opener. That being said, I don't see Buffalo winning this game. I don't think it's going to be another 56-10 affair, since Bellicheat won't have any film of our offensive or defensive signal calling for the first half, but they'll be doing their work at halftime, and likely we'll be 0-1 to start the season. Of course, the last time we made the playoffs, we started out 0-3, so one game matters little that early in the season. It's just hard to be optimistic anymore. After the Draft and OTAs things may start looking up, but right now, we're going to lose that game.

BB already has film of our offensive and defensive signal calling.

  7. 1. On third down Brady will escape the pocket and when he spots a defender coming to hit him he will fall to the ground at the last possible second, the defender will not be able to avoid him and hits him. Brady will whine and cry. The refs will therow a flag for a late hit or roughing the passer. The third down stop will be a first down etc...

    2. The announcers will talk about how Godlicheck recently created a new defense and how he is the greatest coach of all time

    3. The announcers will tell us that Teddy Bruschi just made a fantastic tackle after taking a stiff arm to the chops and accidentally tripping up the Bills offensive player

    4. The announcers will talk about the incredible history of the Patriots, failing to mention the years they were a door mat, how their former owner was bankrupt, how there was talk of relocation and how the NFL helped build their new stadium.

    5. At some point there will be some strange call or play that benefits the Pats. We as viewers and Bills fans will not understandwhy it happened.

If you ask me... I think this is the best time to play the Pats at home. No film on TO and offensive tweaks. Brady's knee still may not be perfect and he will not have played for a year. Bills should also be highly motivated on Monday night

This thread started out very well--witty, clever.

It is now a list of moaning and groaning about the typical stuff---Brady's a pu**y, the refs love tha Pats, BB's overrated, the announcers and the refs are out to get us.

    Bring back the funny.

  8. So then, why has no one traded for Boldin yet? Surely such a great, and apparently available, talent such as him would have been traded by now, right? Surely it couldn't have anything to do with the concerns I pointed out, could it? There are 30 other teams in the NFL, you know.

And I answered your question about TO being on his 4th team with a couple questions, regarding Moss being on his 3rd team and the Cowboys being run by a moron, which you seem to have ignored. Speaking of Moss, what about him running down traffic control officer, admitting to smoking marijuana, date rape, and his lack of effort? Oh and he also criticized Daunte Culpepper. Surely those trump spitting at a player, calling out McNabb for being the choker he is, wanting the ball, and the alleged suicide attempt because he was so depressed. Would you take Moss on the Bills? I'm betting you would.

And since you're so big on his past history, he's never been a problem in his first year with a new team. So the Bills have NOTHING to worry about.

You serious? The obvious answer is that no other team has given the offer that would interest AZ. Yeah, maybe you're right--all "30 other teams in the NFL" won't even consider Boldin becuase he yelled at his OC.

    Holy sh**t.

I ignored your goofy "questions" because they had absolutely NOTHING to do with TO, and were only listed because you couldn't think of an actual answer.

If I had a QB like Brady on my team, of course I would want Moss----TO, too. This isn't hard to figure out.

And you can comfort yourself now with the often repeated "TO is never a problem in his first year" (exactly what do you mean by that?), as if he has some sort of schedule or rules for becoming a horrible teammate. But as has been pointed out, he only (somewhat) behaves in his first year because he gets a LOT of touches (the only thing that motivates him as an athlete) in that first year. You must be VERY confident that Edwards will get TO the 70 catches, 1000+ yards and 10 TDs that are the price for his acceptable behavior in his "first year with a new team".

  9. That...that doesn't make any sense. Actually, that wasn't all that far from what you were talking about. Are you sad that people jumped on you for drinking the wrong beer and not knowing your WNY geography? Awww. I'm sorry to hear that!

I guess I could respond with a list of all the charitable things I do and pit them against a list of your owwn but that would make us both look like d-bags. But I like how people on the internet have the balls to say things like "STFU" behind a keyboard.

Why was it offensive, exactly? Because I mentioned race? (Gasp!) Get over yourself.

Thanks for the advice. Another guy who feels empowered by the lack of face-to-face communication. D-bag.

This stuff is great! It writes itself.

  10. LOL! Yes, Boldin "just wanted to get into the game" while TO just rants and raves for no reason. I guess that's why Boldin left in a huff immediately after the game and didn't celebrate with his teammates. Maybe they didn't let him into the group hug?

A (consistent) cynic would say that Boldin is where TO was in his final years with the 49'ers (Owens was with them for 8 years, Boldin's been with the Cards for 6). And that his desires to be traded and his antics during the NFCCG are warning signs. To go along with the games he's missed. But it's apparent you like Boldin and don't like TO, so that's why you defend Boldin. Or it's because TO is a Bills and Boldin isn't. I get it.

Why is TO on his 4th team? Why is Moss on his 3rd team? Why is Wade Phillips still the head coach of the Cowboys (TO's 3rd team)? Why is Tony Romo dating Jessica Simpson and making a spectacle of himself, while going to Cabo before playoffs games that he can't win? I dunno.

I'd consider Gonzalez for a 3rd rounder. But he rebuffed the Bills' overtures last year. I don't see why anything would change.

The point you miss is that TO is always IN the game, but never satisfied with the attention he gets from his QB and OC. In this one instance, Boldin lost his mind thinking he was missing out on the big game.

With TO there have never been "warning signs"---just actual acts committed (calling out his QB or his organization on radio shows and interviews, spitting in the face of an opponent, "accidental overdose").

Really??---"dunno" why TO is on his 4th team? Why would you pretend not to know?? How does it help you to say that?

TO is on his 4th team because his last 2 ouright suspended/deactivated/released him. By contrast, none of this happened to Boldin---in fact, you insist he is "unavailable" to other teams.

It's not about "like" and "dislike"---it's about what's better for this team. You think it's better to rol the dice with a year of TO. I prefer Boldin for the balance of his career.

  11. First of all, go !@#$ yourself. Second of all, it was an analogy. For some reason, people like you and KnockOut30 can't seem to get those.

Clearly I understood it was an analogy---I even restated it as one.

Just pointing out that it was a ridiculous analogy. Chosing that particular reference made a mockery of the point you are trying to make.

Maybe you should have gone with something less over the top (and less offensive) like "they said we would never put a man on the moon", or "they said England and France would never be linked by tunnel".

Take another Percocet and a nap.

  12. Yes I recall you hawking Boldin before. A guy who like TO is certainly talented, but who has had injury issues, has been trying to get traded out of Arizona for years, and who pulled a stunt worse than anything TO ever did in the NFCCG.

And we don't even know if the Cards are trying to trade him. Just like we don't know if the Chefs are actually trying to trade Gonzalez. You can mentally masturbate about adding this player or that, but if they're not available, it's pointless. And what draft pick would you be willing to give-up for Gonzalez?

Besides, since TO is a short-term fix (or not even, as you claim), why add another short-term fix? Just like why add another unstable personality (Mike Martz) to the equation? It's not like we can go back in time.

I agree--the act that Boldin pulled at the end of the game was bad behavior. But the guy just wanted to get into the game.

TO is always in the game, getting his touches (and drops)---but it's still never enough. He screaming on the filed, off the field. He makes a fool of himself. If you think that that one incident of Boldin's was worse than "anything that TO ever did", then I would enjoy hearing you expalin why TO was dumped from every team he has played on, depsite his superior talent.

Gee, we don't know if Boldin is available, so we can't even discuss it? How do you think these discusions get started? You don't think that the Cards are letting it be known that would trade him for the right offer? Why on earth not? They are loaded at WR, the guy's unhappy, and they have other needs. You don't think other teams are exploring this?

As for TG, he's still one of the best TEs in the league. If we only need TO for a year why not get TG for two? I'd give a 3rd rounder for that any day. He's far better than any 3rd rounder we could possibly find in this draft.

  13. Yeah, and blacks said the same thing about the 13th amendment when they were in the fields picking cotton. Then they said the same thing until Rosa Parks wouldn't give up her seat. "It's a dumb idea." Actually it's a great idea, and if you really were a fan you'd do what you could to see it come to fruition. Sorry if it isn't the "investment vehicle" you were looking for, but ask any true fan of the Green Bay Packers if they really mind.

Thank you for explaining it. Not sure why it's so difficult to comprehend. It's not about being an investment, it's about taking the utmost pride in your team and doing what any other fan would beg to be able to do.

I assume all of this talk is sarcasm, right? It's not like the Packers voted on what to do with Favre.

Wow, purchasing the Bills would be like freeing the slaves or enfranchising blacks. You should have had brain surgery instead.

The idea is stupid not because of it's potential as an investment or as a source of civic pride, but because it is a futile discussion. The league cannot be challenged on this--especially if the angle is threatening their antitrust exemption. That's never going to change.

It'ss a nice dream, but is it really better to replace 6 or 8 people with no talent for running an NFL franchise with 3,000,000 such people?

Rochester considers itself Finger Lakes. Never Central NY.

    PTR---East side.

  14. Steve Fairchild studied under Mike Martz in St Louis for 3 years before he came to Buffalo to be the OC for the Bills, Turk Schonert was the QB coach under Fairchild so when Fairchild left for Colorado last season Schonert was promoted and took over as OC. Didn't you notice that the Bills run the same get your QB killed scheme as the Rams

Martz has been fired in St Louis, Detroit, and now SF but his legacy lives on in Buffalo. I suppose it seemed like a good Idea to try and bring a form of the "greatest show on turf" to Buffalo which hasn't seen a high scoring offense since the Jim Kelly K-gun era.

What so many simply don't understand is, that it wasn't just Kurt Warner and the amazing receivers in Issac Bruce and Tory Holt, nor was it that awesome O line with Orlando Pace and Co. What really made that Mike Martz offense so good was Marshall Faulk and the running / pass receiving threat he gave them. I suppose you could say the same thing with that 90's Buffalo team,It wasn't just Kelly, Reed, Kent Hull et al. what helped make them so great was running / pass receiving threat of Thurman Thomas.

This current Bills team as some of the right pieces to become that high powered offense they want to become. They have some good receivers with Owens, Evans and Reed, they have really good RB's in Lynch and Jackson, what they are currently lacking is a blocking TE like Metzalaars and an O line that will give Edwards time to throw. Also, I don't see anyone even close to Kent Hulls ability on the roster.

No one would confuse our offensive "philosophy" with that of the Rams under Martz.

In fact, Martz to Fairchild to Schonert is such a significant serial dilution of talent that you are left with only homeopathic levels of Martz in Schonert. I really like Warner, and Warner is more of a disciple of Martz than Schonert is--KW has been a "QB getting killed" with each team he has played on since he left SL.

But I agree that Martz's strength partly rested with his use of Faulk in so many aspects of the offense (despite other's claim that he "ignored the RB"). Problem is, we don't have anyone on our team close to Faulk. Lynch has stone hands.

Ralph does not have a crush on DJ, he has had a long affinity for cash money. He figured he would save some by locking up Slow Dick on the cheap when they were 5-1 or so. When the team went into the tank and the obvious move was to fire DJ, no way was Ralphie gonna eat those measly millions.

  15. Here's the major difference: In his 5 years in Buffalo, JP played under a NUMBER of DIFFERENT Head Coaches with DIFFERENT systems. That would retard ANYONES development. Trent has played the SAME system for the SAME Head Coach & has played in about the SAME amount of games as JP. I can't wait for the season to start. Trent will have weapons to utilize as JP NEVER DID. As you said, NO EXCUSES.

Edwards was on his second OC in two years.

JPL played in 42 games, started 33. TE played in 24 with 23 starts. Those are not "about the SAME".

Each coach and system that JPL played under concluded at one point or another that he wasn't a starting QB in the NFL.

What are the odds of that?
