  1. I think so. The hurry-up approach is predicated on quick, up-tempo decisions at the line- thus not allowing or eliminating certain packages that a defense would employ. I think that it forces the hand of the defense, and also has some conditioning aspects to it as well- it tires out a defense. With it being quicker and less opportunity for a defensive package to confuse a rookie, this plays to the offense IMHO.
  2. move what, his bowels? where do people get this stuff?
  3. After years of pollution, I wouldn't call those Lakes "fresh".
  4. well, don't forget the other guy is probably on the same stuff...
  5. I only hope that it adds careers, and not jobs. My wife and I moved back to Buffalo in October 2006, but left again in May of '08. Truly, there are signs of change (finally), and a small handful of programs and local politicians who finally get it. Back in the 50's and 60's, WNY was the place to be. UB, Roswell Park, Bell Aerospace, Dunlop, Goodyear, Ford, Bethlehem Steel, etc were all booming. Manufacturing, Medical, Education, you name it and the area was prospering. There was room for labor unions at the time. Now, I think the unions are part of the problem. Obviously taxing an ever-dwindling and aging population is another factor. The area needs to consolidate its resources. Gut the small boards and municipalities and their useless representatives. Make Erie County 1 entity, and no more towns, villages, and the like. 1 police force. 1 fire department. 1 supervisor, and 1 board of representatives ACTUALLY REPRESENTATIVE OF THE POPULATION. When monies come in via Waterfront development, Power Authority, etc...petty squabbles about how to waste the money (thank you, Niagara County- NCCC does not need an ice rink) need to end. The money is for waterfront development along the RIVER, and should be concentrated on that purpose. The region needs to pull together for a common goal. Living in Northern VA, we sometimes travel up to Baltimore's Inner Harbor and love it. It'd be great if Buffalo could pull something like that off in my lifetime. Why are the Bills in Orchard Park? Why is UB in Amherst? Why are Casinos being built in Buffalo? The Bills should be downtown. UB should be on the waterfront. I completely don't see any benefit to Casinos in the City of Buffalo. Niagara Falls, on the other hand, should be allowed to become the 'Las Vegas of the East' under the stipulation that the monies gained will be (in part) returned to the area and County for improvement. Of course, that money would have to used for the same and monitored to prevent wastage. People from ALL OVER THE WORLD go to Niagara Falls. Every year, millions make the pilgrimage. Yet, Canada captures so much of the spending cash because they have so much more to offer, its prettier, and cleaner. Why is this allowed? America is a free enterprise. Why is growth so stifled when there is a wonder of the world at is doorstep? Why should Canada get the cash? Having high speed rail along the waterfront connecting the Falls to Buffalo (with stops along the way) would provide packages for visitors to Bills, Sabres, and gambling in the Falls. The theatre district could add to this. Restaurants would thrive with the increased shoppers looking for something to do. Could you imagine a WNY like this? Stop the sprawl, and rededicate to the City. Be unified, and maximize the area for what it has. But who am I?
  6. only if the most socialist welfare state in the Union seriously cuts back on its programs and taxes, and actual economic G-R-O-W-T-H (i.e.- jobs) occurs will that ever happen. Have you read about the Brain Drain? Seriously, this is a problem for not only WNY but NY as a whole. That is your most critical population that continuously leaves and as long as that continues the State will eventually be choked as the baby boomers start collecting those pensions and there are little to no more young families taking their place. NY is seriously headed for either total collapse or will need a major reworking within the next decade. They can't continue to hemorrage an educated population and not have it effect the state.
  7. I absolutely agree with your estimation on the percentage of the league juiced. However, you have got to remember that "designer steroids" are out there, as Barry Bonds and the rest of Major League Baseball can attest. Steroids are not out of style. I mean, does anyone seriously look at David Garrard and say, "wow, he really hits the weights"? Or the Jag's running back (whose name escapes me)? To any doubters, go back and look at the players from the 80's and early 90's. Now look at the physiques of today. You'd have to be an absolute idiot in denial to not come to the conclusion that most of the NFL players are not juiced on something. My question is how do they get it in college? NCAA rules are pretty strict as to players having jobs off campus, endorsing products, etc. Looking at these top picks coming out of college, its ridiculous. I don't care how many weights you lift, your forehead, mandible, and neck do not grow NATURALLY like that! So where do college athletes score their drugs? Agents? Trainers? I can't figure this one out. If they don't have jack in terms of money because of NCAA rules and just plain ol being college students, who is giving them their "gear"? What, is it a promise to pay or something in the hopes that said player makes the transition to the pro's and pays it back someday? Even that doesn't make much sense, as the chances are pretty slim of a college player making it big and repaying the drug cost of all those PED's. Where do college players get their drugs? who enables it?
  8. and steroids...don't forget them. that's not a slam specifically on Poz, but when it looks like a duck,....
  9. ah, gotta love the juice, man! Wonder if it's "The Clear" or just plain 'ol HGH...
  10. Huh? Free Sunday Ticket for $59.99/month? How can it be "free" and $59.99/month?
  11. huh? Can barely make anything out on a 50 inch HDTV? Are you blind?
  12. ah, who cares?
  13. The Fitness Factory on Delaware Ave in Kenmore, a decent pizza, fish fries (though we can get good ones down here in VA at Jimmy's Old Time Tavern), family, visiting Canada, not having to pay DirecTV hundreds of dollars to watch the Bills and Sabres, hiking the Niagara Gorge, fort Niagara, niawanda Park, the slower pace of life, and the Buffalo Library- no joke, that is one seriously cool place to get lost if you like to read. South of Buffalo, I don't know if they know how to make pizza.
  14. I could see Roscoe being moved...but not Reed.
  15. can't say that I am an expert... but Anchor Bar blows! I ordered a burger there one time, and it came out like a charbroiled hockey puck. I really don't know why so many transplants rave about that place. I love Buffalo Brew Pub in Williamsville (rotisserie chicken is awesome), and Pearl Street Grille. Both have a great atmosphere and the food is excellent.
  16. AHHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHHAHAHHHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...aaaa... SOOOOOO funny, but too true... Are Celino and Barnes and the scum like them really the only ones who can afford to advertise in WNY anymore?
  17. Yes, if, and only IF Trent Edwards can handle it mentally. IF he can process and call the correct play at the line on a consistent basis, then yes, this team has the weapons to finally create some havoc on opposing teams and pile on some points. It actually is pretty brilliant of an idea on paper. The offensive line is not proven yet, but what better way to take pressure off the young linemen, but with a quick, high-tempo, aggressive offense that keeps defenses on their heels? TO, Evans, Parrish, Lynch, Reed, Nelson, Fine, Jackson, and Rhodes? I feel pretty comfortable going to battle with those weapons. Imagine that, we actually have the potential to have an offensive offense this year (no pun intended).
  18. I can remember the same thing not too long ago with WR turned Safety George Wilson. He was all the rage when he was a WR, constantly catching this, and that, etc. I think that alot of these writers may fall in love with the underdog during camp, and try and pump up his stock. Who knows? Chris Brown does work for the Bills, and could all be propaganda to pump up trade value. Put that in your conspiracy pipe and smoke it.
  19. you know, its too early for any rookie to be mentioned anywhere. I'll wait until after training camp and the preseason to start making assessments about the Bills talent.
  20. Excellent post. I believe that one vital factor in the Bills lack of turnovers (and losing record) last year was no pass rush. That one single element, IMHO, could be responsible for so much of the problems the Bills faced last year. A viable pass rush creates pressure on the opposing team and especially QB to make decisions faster than they would like; thus increasing the likelihood of a bad decision (throw down the middle, lobbed ball, etc). I have grown incredibly mad over seeing Tom Brady or Cassel or whomever is playing QB for the Patriots every year sitting behind a wall of offensive lineman, with little more than a sniff from our D-Line. I'm hoping that the addition of Maybin, the return of Schobel, a new D-line coach, and perhaps someone on the roster not yet identified will add that pressure this year. Here's to seeing Brady on his a$$ 3 times per game.
  21. Well, what is your definition of 'suck'. Last time I checked, only 1 team wins the Super Bowl every year. Does that mean that all of the other 31 teams are chumps? Ultimately, that is where your argument is heading. Would making it to the 1st round of the playoffs year after year, only to be beaten every one of those times be considered a 'winner'? My uncle is a Detroit Lions fan. Has been since the 50's. He's not even from Detroit. I'm from Buffalo, and grew up during the 90's. I follow the team because it's not only where I am from, but because they have become a part of me. Do they break my heart? Absolutely. But if there was never a Buffalo Bills or if the team ever moves, I won't be following the league anymore. I am a football fan BECAUSE of the Bills. I'm the same way with the Sabres. If the team was ever to move, I would not be following the NHL anymore. Does this make me a loser? I don't see how one could logically make that conclusion anymore than you could call someone who likes strawberry ice cream a loser. I am a fan of the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres. Maybe one day, they will really win it all...
  22. This quote and all the others really don't grasp the business of the NFL. You don't overpay for a player, and get locked into a contract for years down the road (crippling your team's future ability to find and retain talent) as did John Butler prior to heading to San Diego. I would argue that the Bills probably offered a reasonable contract based on Pisa's age, history of injury, position, stats, team need, etc and based it upon the current market for this type of LB. With only a small number of teams running the 'Tampa-2' or an off-shoot, this sets the market and I believe really serves the teams more than the players. Pisa is talented, but how many teams are really bidding for his services? Buffalo and Chicago? No, I think that the Bills should be credited for an amazing offseason and truly searching to improve all areas on the field. Just because Pisa left without a deal, should not be reflected as poor handling by the Bills, rather it should be viewed as shrewd business sense and responsible management. Now, if we could just find a way to reduce Kelsay's contract....
  23. Well, I don't really think that Fred Taylor can be used anymore. The Bills signed Rhodes and he should perform admirably. Taylor was released by Jacksonville, and wanted to go to (win) a Super Bowl, so he chose the Patriots over the Bills. He's on the wrong side of 30, and for a running back, that is serious. Rhodes is solid and certainly not lesser of a talent. I have to be honest, none of those linebackers really stick out in my mind as being dominant. As many have posted here, the type of defense that the Bills and a small handful of teams use in the NFL really limits where these guys can go. You can't fault Pisa for wanting to leverage his value (as all we here about is how the NFL is a business- alright already, we get it), but the market is just not that great for an undersized LB that only fits a style of defense what, 3 or 4 teams use? I think that the Bills can afford to be (and are) in the driver's seat on this one. I can see Pisa signing with the Bills and helping; but if not, no spilled milk.
  24. What? Where did you find any news as to what he was asking for?
  25. Besides that, she claims to have looked outside of her window and seen a guy in a white shirt? It would seem that said 59 year old has a whole lot of wishful thinking and extremely distorted self-image for this story to even be real.
