Hey DC Bills fan, I live in the DC Metro area, too...Northern VA.
-
I know, I know, I KNOW! sheesh... ...can't a guy have a dream? First, no Santa Claus, and now, the Bills will forever be stuck in fertilizer.
-
ahahahahahahahahahaaah ah hahahahahahahahah ah ah ah ah ah ahahhahahahah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ahahah aaa... now THAT was too funny. I really think the San Diego ball boy might be available...
-
In all reality, this is my feeling as well. You could have Parcells on the sideline. But if Edwards lacks the b@lls to throw a pass greater than 10 yards, then the team and thus the offense are going nowhere.
-
Then again, he might drop the flag on his way to midfield...
-
I love the 'Buffalo Bills surrender' thing, man... ...maybe that could be their 'offense' this year, the 'S-gun'. The 'S' stands for surrender, and every time the Bills would get control of the ball, Trent could trot out to midfield, wave the white flag, and turn the ball over.
-
...I'm still trying to find Lee Evans...
-
Ah, I forgot Gruden. My list includes: Holmgren, Cowher, Shanahan, AND Gruden. Any one of those 4 would have this team turned around and headed in the right direction.
-
Well, he did go to Yale...

I have too much pride to get past Phase 2. I've been angry about the Bills for the past 10 seasons... I mean, Farrior's comments almost had ME punching a hole in the wall... Why do none of the Bills react this way?
-
I sincerely hope that this is also the last season for Tom Modrak and John Guy along w/Jauron if this season also produces mediocrity (or worse). I don't know if Ralph has any kind of a true role anymore. Modrak and Guy were brought in by Tom Donahoe, and what have they done since their arrival? Buddy Nix is back with the Bills, and would hopefully take over scouting duties from the inept Modrak. Guy is worthless, as there has not been any real impact making free agent that he has brought in to the Bills. Besides, one of these "super" guys like Shanahan, Holmgren, or Cowher could run both coach and GM duties and have the Bills competing in the playoffs w/in 2 seasons. Brandon really has little to no real football personnel experience (regardless of what his proponents claim of his "rubbing elbows" with prior Bills front office greats). He should be stuck back in his marketing/ COO role. This team does not need a coach who plays 'nice' with them. They have some good talent, but need to have a boot shoved up their collective a$$es and pressure put on them for them to become winners. Other teams just seem more disciplined, intense, and hungry.

Watching the game again because I like pain
Red replied to seq004's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I disagree on the O-Line. Wood looks awesome, and Butler is a welcome addition to the scrubs they had before- as is Hangartner. No, the problem is the lack of downfield throws which is either Edwards lack of confidence, Schonert being a wimp w/his play-calling, or both. I don't know if Lee Evans even caught a pass this offseason. Does he still play w/the Bills? Owens certainly will be welcome, but it would really suck if Trent is relying solely on Owens for receiving help (from outside, first glances, it would appear so) as Owens does have a tendency of missing some games w/injuries. As I posted elsewhere, if this is what we get this season, then Jauron, GUY, and Modrak must go. Brandon should be moved out of GM duties, and a real GM/ Coach should be brought in. Shanahan, Holmgren, and Cowher are the only names worth considering. -
I don't know if benching him restores his confidence...but what is it with the Bills striking out so often on QB's since Jimbo retired? I'm not ready to throw the towel in on Trent, yet...but...he clearly has lost confidence. If I may submit to record the lack of downfield throws on the part of Edwards being perhaps the biggest issue with the offense. Does Lee Evans even play for the Bills anymore? Now, whether that is a confidence issue, or patty-cake play calling from Schonert, or both, but clearly no defense will respect the Bills if they can't complete a pass greater than 5-10 yards. Edwards has become a believer of the checkdown. What is really becoming frustrating (though I know it is only the preseason), how other teams ROOKIE QB's seem so much better than our VETERAN of the past 3 seasons. Matt Ryan, and now Stafford, Sanchez w/the Jets all look amazing. I know that it is early, but c'mon! My offseason plan, if this offensive ineptitude continues through the season, then I would fire Jauron, MODRAK AND GUY, promote Nix up to Director of Scouting, switch Brandon from GM to COO, and bring in a coach/GM that KNOWS WHAT HE IS FREAKIN' DOING!! me likes Shanahan, Holmgren, or Cowher.

Here's to hoping that Brady's shoulder injury will have him miss Week 1!!!!

How is that Jason Peters trade looking now?
Red replied to sharper802's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
uh, last time I checked, Peters was injured in Philly... ...he's not helping anybody by being on the sideline -
Was this the same Whitner who last season, made the bold statement that the Bills would be in the playoffs?
-
somehow I could see him in a Dolphins jersey. If that didn't happen, the Raiders would be a guess. But now that Favre has decided that he is not playing again...would Minnesota try him out?
-
oh c'mon! we're going to argue over semantics, here? Being reinstated in the NFL is him being indemnified by the league. He is being given back the opportunity to compete, and win a position on a squad. When a player is drafted, does he automatically win a spot on a team? Could anyone 'normal' Joe, under these same circumstances, be even hired back as janitor had he been partner or something of that nature? None of us would even make it in the door and if attempted, would be escorted out by the police. He's a convicted felon. The only reason he is getting another shot is because of the (potential) money it can bring the NFL. Is that fair?

Well, perhaps I am mistaken, but if you think that I am claiming that Roscoe is a major talent you are wrong. I never said anything of the sort. On the flip side of your coin, I don't understand how anyone who can undervalue a guy who can get you 2-3 punt returns for TD's a year. His value in field position is also not to be undervalued. The Bills offense has really sucked since 2002 (not sure if that year is right, but the year Bledsoe, Moulds, and Price lit it up). Parrish can put them on the other teams 30 yard line, but if they can't punch it in, its not the return game, man.
-
so what's your point? If the guy can get you a guaranteed 2-3 punt returns for touchdowns per year, and helps you lead or be in the top percentage of the league in return yardage several years in a row, how is that not an asset worth a roster spot? Who cares about WR? We've got a good starting tandem now. What will be interesting for Roscoe will be how the new blocking rules for special teams and the elimination of the wedge block will or will not effect the Bills position in special teams and returns. Will he still be as successful?
-
how am I making more of him than he is? I stated that his value is in the return game. Field position and the number of times per season that he takes one all the way are worth a roster spot in my opinion. And you can dump the 'tude, dude. Eric Metcalf was repeatedly tried in Cleveland's offenses, and had varied successes- none as great as his special teams ability. Whom, that the Bills would reasonably acquire, would you want to place in that 'valuable roster' spot you talk about? Who, DiGiorgio? PK Sam? C'mon! I have never posted that I see him as Pro Bowl WR (as that has never been proven)- only that he has not been utilized properly in the offensive game plan. No need to get so sensitive.
-
exactly!
-
I couldn't disagree more with this post. Roscoe is a return ace much like Eric Metcalf used to be for Cleveland. Field position is not 'hype'. In terms of his offensive ability, I partially see it as a size issue and poor coaching. He often has a slow start off of the line, which is only compounded if he is jammed. Plays are set up for him, but since it seems to take him awhile longer to get started, they usually don't go to far. But after he gets going, Parrish has the 'quicks' to make people miss. For his special teams ability alone, he is worthy of his contract and status. I'd love to see him working out of the backfield on different types of plays (pitches, flea flickers, etc), since he needs room to get started. But I would only make a trade for a #3 or #2 or proven player in an area of need. Go back and look at his returns the past 2 years. How is he not exciting every time he touches the ball on a return? I just don't get the Roscoe haters.
-
the only double standard I see here, is how a professional athlete can get his job back after being accused, tried, found guilty, and imprisoned for a felony, and then get his job back. If it was any 'normal' person without the profile, we would never get our job back.
-
so had he 'ordinary' status they would have let him walk?
