  1. the bills offered top 4-5 money, that's $8.25 mil Byrd wants #1 money, that's $9 mil http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-football/22771675/report-jairus-byrd-not-getting-deal-wants-to-be-highestpaid-safety
  2. Report: Bills expected to start E.J. Manuel against Patriots According to Peter Schrager of FOXSports.com, Bills head coach Doug Marrone is expected to name E.J. Manuel the Bills Week 1 starter on Wednesday. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/09/03/report-bills-expected-to-start-e-j-manuel-against-patriots/?ocid=Yahoo&partner=ya5nbcs
  3. Levitre got paid LESS ($7.8 mil/yr) than what the bills offered (about $8.25) and what Byrd wants (about $9 mil/yr). Levitre is getting dirty on every single offensive play. Byrd does not get dirty on every defensive play.
  4. funny how the individual QB rankings almost mirror the ESPN power team rankings The Quarterback Index: Ranking the starters 1-32 Looking for development 26. EJ Manuel, Buffalo Bills 27. Jake Locker, Tennessee Titans 28. Brandon Weeden, Cleveland Browns 29. Christian Ponder, Minnesota Vikings 30. Geno Smith, New York Jets 31. Terrelle Pryor, Oakland Raiders 32. Blaine Gabbert, Jacksonville Jaguars http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000237909/article/the-quarterback-index-ranking-the-starters-132
  5. for the record, I would've kept Levitre and let Byrd walk. as far as the medical goes, Byrd was dealing with this injury last year, they had to know.
  6. that's why they play the games......

  9. 4/1/2013: Signed a two-year, $11.5 million contract. The deal contains $6.5 million guaranteed -- a $3.25 million signing bonus and Flynn's first-year base salary. He can earn another $200,000 through incentives and escalators. 2013: $740,000 (+ $3.176 million "signing" bonus), 2014: $5 million, 2015: Free Agent http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/4949/matt-flynn
  10. "if" Tyrd really wants out of buffalo (which is likely)....then the best way to force your way out is to make the bills NOT want to use the tag next year. make it so they prefer to trade you. one way to do that is by constantly missing games due to injury and making that $6.9 mil tag money a bad deal. if he plays healthy all 16 games at his pro bowl level, then the bills got great value. if he only plays in half the games, then not so great of a deal. I just don't see Tyrd and his agent playing nice. like all of of sudden everything is cool. all that matters is getting to the end of this season HEALTHY and taking another crack at the long term deal he desires. he could give two chits about the bills. he will err on the side of caution all year. he will miss games. there is no way he will play through injury with a one year deal the same as he would if he had the security of a long term deal. Plantar Faciitis is the PERFECT injury to work the system without damaging your reputation if you so desire. one mans over cautious is another mans faking.
  11. 5. Buffalo Bills Imagine you’re new head coach Doug Marrone. You’re facing the prospect of starting a rookie quarterback — injured first-rounder E.J. Manuel or undrafted Jeff Tuel — right off the bat, with the Patriots, Panthers and Ravens (three of the hottest teams down the stretch last season) coming to town looking to whoop some tail. At least their one roadie in that stretch is at the Jets. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/nfl-preview-week-teams-toughest-four-game-stretch-140628822--nfl.html

  14. Patriots coach Bill Belichick on Monday declined to rule out bringing back the popular but underperforming quarterback some time this season. "I don't know what's going to happen here in the year, but certainly we've had a lot of players who've left here and come back here," Belichick told reporters in his first comments since releasing Tebow on Saturday http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/patriots/2013/09/02/tim-tebow-return-to-patruots-bill-belichick/2755495/

  17. Doug Whaley asked the NFL to extend Byrd's exemption thru week 1, maybe he knew something ? The Bills approached the NFL for an exemption a day after Byrd signed his one-year, $6.9 million franchise tender. General manager Doug Whaley told The Associated Press he had not ruled out having the exemption extend into the regular season. http://bigstory.ap.org/article/bills-seek-roster-exemption-nfl-s-byrd

  23. Jairus just said dang..... The Cincinnati Bengals and defensive tackle Geno Atkins have agreed to a long-term extension, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported Monday, per a person who had been briefed on the deal. The Cincinnati Enquirer's Joe Reedy first reported the news. The extension is for five years and $55 million, Rapoport reported, with Atkins earning $22 million in the first six months. The fourth-round draft pick was slated to earn $1.4 million in the last year of his rookie deal. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000237310/article/geno-atkins-cincinnati-bengals-agree-to-contract-extension
  24. I think they did the right thing.... why cut to 53, get the 51-53rd players all excited they made the team, then cut them a couple days later when you add a QB or CB.
  25. the issue with Powell is HANG TIME.....it's not good.
