  1. it's great idea. that is where the extra revenue will come from when they reduce the preseason games from 4 to 2.
  2. The NFL is, more than ever before, a quarterback league. And we’ve got some great ones playing in these playoffs. If the wild card weekend taught us anything, it’s that the NFL in 2014 is dominated by quarterbacks. There were no 100-yard rushers. The flip side of the NFL being a league of great quarterbacks is that the running game has been de-emphasized. There wasn’t a single 100-yard runner in the NFL this weekend. In fact, it was a quarterback, Kaepernick, who led all runners in the wild card round with his 98-yard game against the Packers. Running backs just aren’t the NFL’s marquee players anymore. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/01/06/nfl-morning-after-a-great-time-for-great-quarterbacks/ look at the regular season ending Total QBR rankings. 11 of the 12 QB's who made the playoffs are in the TOP 15....... 8 of 8 of the remaining QB's are in the Top 15. http://espn.go.com/nfl/qbr EJ Manuel is ranked 28th in QBR. in my opinion, the best he will do is crack the Top 20. that ain't good enough. if the 2013 Bills had a Top 15 QB we would of had 5 more wins. our team, warts and all is good enough just the way it is, if you just fix the QB position. you could upgrade any other position on the team and it will only result in 1 more win.
  3. the worst rule by far.... can't block the punter.......but the punter can make tackles.
  4. the bills asked for 2 regular season games....that was shot down (can't find that link now, i'm lookin). the new lease limits the games in toronto. The agreement includes a clause limiting the Bills to playing one annual home game and a pre-season game once every two years in Toronto. That’s similar to the five-year agreement between the Bills and Toronto-based Rogers Communications to have the team play north of the border. http://www.thestar.c...te_stadium.html In addition to the Toronto game, the Bills are allowed to play one more international game over the next 10 years.
  5. related to this issue.... when the bills were negotiating the new lease.....they asked the county about playing 2 games in toronto. that was shot down by the county.
  6. and my point is......they still have those cap dollars to sign free agents....on each and every one of the draft picks they gave up. instead of spending $5 mil on an uncertain draft pick.....they can spend $5 mil on a proven free agent
  7. what did washington really give up ? this years #2 overall draft choice will cost $5.5/yr for 4 years....all guaranteed. the redskins can go out and sign a Free Agent for $5.5/yr for 4 years or any other amount they choose. they didn't loose the cap space. just the right to take a gamble on an expensive rookie. manny lawson $3.1 mil/yr jerry hughes $1.1 mil/yr
  8. they are only meeting to discuss jointly how to better sell the idea to fans. it's all about better public relations. hypothetically, if they did cancel, then they would have to admit they are idiots for renewing less than a year ago. that ain't happening.
  9. not even close, EJ is better.
  10. luck is playing with zero pro bowlers on offense. kelly had....thomas, reed, lofton, wilford, richter, hull, ballard
  11. so if i understand this freakonomics thing right... when the greatly expanded Bills Store opens just before the start of the 2014 season......season ticket sales from southern ontario fans should skyrocket ?
  12. if you work the numbers back, based on russ's comments......there were about 10% southern ontario fans attending games at the ralph before the toronto series started and now there are 20%.
  13. corporate sponsors can also include premium seats and suite sales. whats next....names and addresses of the 20% individuals from southern ontario, Russ claims attends games..... if you don't believe quotes from russ about his fan base , i certainly can't provide written proof.
  14. there is a long line of Billionaires who want to own an NFL franchise. Ted Rogers was just one of them. the Bills Franchise will be changing hands (hopefully ralph lives to 120). after that anything and everything is possible. the best way to keep the word Buffalo in front of Bills is to SELLOUT games in orchard park. Regionalization helps bigtime with that. one could argue, efforts in rochester were successful without playing a game there (yes, but they did get something tangible by moving training camp there).
  15. the Greater Toronto Area has 6 million people. lets say 90% hate the bills and 10% like the NFL/Bills (600,000 people) lets say just 1% of 6 million is inclined to attend Bills games on a regular basis. thats still 60,000 fans.
  16. are you suggesting that the Bills regionalization efforts have had nothing to do with increases in season ticket holders and corporate sponsors from both rochester and southern ontario ? From 2011: On any given Sunday there’s 14 or 15 percent of the fans in Ralph Wilson Stadium from Monroe County. And when you look at what’s happened in Toronto, we’ve had a 44 percent increase in season-ticket holders from the Southern Ontario marketplace in just a few years. And again, on any given Sunday you’re looking at 15 to 16 percent of our fans from Southern Ontario. Regionalization works and it will be a linchpin to everything that we do from a business standpoint moving forward. http://blogs.buffalonews.com/billboard/2011/06/brandon-touts-regionalism.html From 2013: Brandon has repeatedly said Southern Ontario fans now comprise the largest contingent of those in Ralph Wilson Stadium, outside of those who live in the immediate Buffalo Niagara region. Southern Ontario fans account for nearly 20 percent of the Bills ticket base. http://www.bizjournals.com/buffalo/news/2013/12/04/bills-challenged-to-sell-seats.html?page=all in just 2 years, fans from southern ontario who go to the Ralph increased from 15% to 20% of the total. thats another 33% increase on top of the 44% increase. that didn't happen by accident.
  17. the Franchise tag for Tight Ends is $6.1 mil.......they could tag him 3 years in a row. he is going nowhere but with the Saints.
  18. this Byrd decision is the hardest decision of any player in the last 10 years. Option #1 - make Byrd the highest paid safety in football. 5yr / $45 mil / $27 mil guaranteed (essentially a 3 yr deal). Option #2 - Franchise tag Byrd at $8.3 for 1 yr (and likely go through the exact same scenario next year, where he misses games waiting til he's 100% healthy before playing). Option #3 - Franchise Tag & trade. Option #4 - Franchise Tag & rescind offer at last possible moment (assuming he fails to sign & report on time), making byrd a free agent with little chance of signing a big contract with another team. Option #5 - let him become a UFA.
  19. put me down as in FAVOR of the toronto series. attendance wise, southern ontario fans just exceeded fans from rochester who attend games in Orchard Park. that happened because of the toronto series and all the free & paid promotions via newsprint, radio & TV coverage. losing a home game to essentially a nuetral site is a high price to pay. but it is worth it long term. with Toronto we are the 4th largest NFL market. without Toronto, we will be the 2nd largest market after relocating to L.A. .....and don't think a measly $400 million penalty is going to deter anything....... a franchise in L.A. is worth over $2 Billion. the Bills will sell for $900,000 & $400,000 penalty = $1.3 Billion. embrace southern ontario.....7 home games are much better than none.
  20. any CJ sighting on sideline ?
  21. only BLOWING SMOKE..... the only...and i mean only possible change will be toronto giving back pre season games. otherwise, they will be discussing any and all possible ways to improve PR. this new 5 year deal was approved less than a year ago. absolutely nothing has changed to make either side want out...... except bad PR.
  22. there is recent history between the Bills & Rams.... the Rams moved up from No. 16 to No. 8 overall to grab the former West Virginia wide receiver Tavon Austin. The Rams sent the No. 16 (EJ Manuel), No. 46 (Kiko Alonso), No. 78 (Marquise Goodwin) and No. 222 (Chris Gragg) in exchange for Austin and the Bills third-round pick -- No. 71 (TJ McDonald).
  23. would you move up from #9 to #1 or #2 if the price was: 2 firsts and a second ? 2014 - 1st round 2014 - 2nd round 2015 - 1st round ( i know washington paid 3 firsts and a second, but i don't see that happenning this year) http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/10238006/houston-texans-owner-bob-mcnair-open-trading-no-1-pick http://gamedayr.com/sports/st-louis-rams-trade-no-2-pick-2014-nfl-draft-93241/#
  24. i credit the COACHING change of Pettine for Wannstedt.
  25. The recent Baltimore Ravens Super Bowl ring is fashioned in white and yellow gold with 243 round-cut diamonds. The estimated value is between $5,000 and $10,000. http://espn.go.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/77935/ravens-celebrate-reminisce-at-ring-bash
