My take after some research on Byrd
papazoid replied to D521646's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
#1- HIPAA does not allow me to share his medical records. lets be clear, i'm NOT saying he was faking or exaggerating his injury. I believe his foot was injured. i'm questioning why he waited until it was 100% healthy to play in 2013 when he played on it at less than 100% in 2012. #2- his agent is well known for advising his players to HOLDOUT. his incentives in 2012 were no guaranteed money. he needed to play through injury to get a big contract the next season. in 2013 all the franchise tag money is guaranteed wether he plays or not. the less he plays the more likely he will see more guaranteed money in 2014. #3- If Coach Marrone did have any doubts. he would NEVER say so publicly. that would be the kiss of death and Tyrd would never play for him. -

you mean the one he played through in 2012, then after 8 months rest, decided he needed more time until he was 100% healthy before playing in 2013.....that injury. -

because his agent is EUGENE PARKER !!! maybe you've heard of him.....he will not flinch.....but the bills will. please google some of his clients that held out and tell me how it ended ??? i'll save you some time....the player won......Jairus Tyrd will become the HIGHEST PAID SAFETY IN FOOTBALL (just not with Buffalo). Cornelius Bennett - held out......became highest paid defensive player in the league. Curtis Martin - New England to the Jets Jason Peters - Buffalo to Philly Richard Seymour - New England to the Raiders Ndamukong Suh - Detroit $40 mil GUARANTEED Michael Crabtree - SF In 1995, Parker negotiated Deion Sanders lucrative seven year, 35 million dollar contract, with a 13 million dollar signing bonus, which at that time made Sanders the highest paid defensive player in the NFL. In 2004 he negotiated a six year deal worth $60 million for wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, making him the highest paid rookie in the NFL ever. Other holdouts that have been Parkers clients include: Derrick Brooks-10 days-2001 Cedric Benson- 36 days- 2005 Hines Ward- 14 days- 2005 Richard Seymour- three days- 2005 Devin Hester- two days- 2008 Steven Jackson-27 days- 2008 Sedrick Ellis- six days-2008 Parker and the seven holdouts listed above were pretty clear winners in all of the holdout negotiations once all were said and done. http://sportsmanagementdegree.org/2012/agent-spotlight-eugene-parker/ -

Kiper's latest Big Board has Bortles ranked 9th.... Bortles offers a good blend of the size traditionalists want at the QB position and the athleticism that is now more coveted as NFL offenses often look to put the quarterback's feet to good use. He has sound mechanics, though almost rigidly so, and shows poise and good footwork in the pocket. He has above-average arm strength based on my reviews, can drive the ball pretty well on intermediate throws, and while he's generally accurate, he can be inconsistent with his ball placement and ask a lot of his wide receivers, an area where Bridgewater has been better so far. The UCF offense also turned a lot of short throws into huge plays, inflating passing totals a bit. http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/draft2014/story/_/id/10259549/2014-nfl-draft-sammy-watkins-rises-blake-bortles-debuts-big-board?refresh=true

Comprehensive Bills O line evaluation thread
papazoid replied to OCinBuffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
STUDS : cordy glenn & eric wood STINKS: everyone else the Bills Offensive Line gave up the 4th MOST SACKS (48) in the league. in rushing yards per attempt the bills were ranked 14th. (we had the most rushing attempts by far, 546). if your not going to upgrade the QB position....then at least keep him upright and improve the O-line. -

Tyrd does NOT WANT to play in buffalo (unless of course they make him the highest paid safety in the league). his agent does NOT WANT his player to sign with buffalo (teaching the bills and the league to not jerk his clients around). the Bills will Franchise Tag him again (they don't want to walk away with nothing ). Tyrd will again wait until he is 100% healthy before playing. he will be traded before ever playing again for the bills. -

The NFL sent out a press release on Wednesday to brag about its TV ratings, and although the NFL doesn’t need any of our help in promoting the fact that its TV ratings are amazing, the numbers are worth pointing out anyway. According to the NFL, the average game got 17.6 million viewers, and 205 million Americans watched at least one NFL game. That represents 70 percent of the potential TV viewers in America, which completely dwarfs the kind of viewership that any other type of programming gets. (Even though to me it’s actually a little surprising that 30 percent of people with a TV never watched a single game last season.) http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/01/08/34-of-americas-35-most-watched-fall-tv-shows-were-nfl-games/

Personnel Decisions Looming for Bills in 2015
papazoid replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
#99 - will be tagged #28 - not a free agent until 2016. by then he will be used up. #23- will be kept as Byrd's replacement. #22- bills lifer, will sign a reasonable extension. #55 - if he has another 10 sack season, we won't be able to afford his asking price and will be gone. -
ESPN employs the worst BSers!
papazoid replied to D. L. Hot-Flamethrower's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
it's part of the schtick..... they get paid to create content...... if they all said the same thing or always agreed, it would be boring...... they sit in the pre-show production meetings and choreograph who will take the side of a certain issue...... sometimes ya gotta do crazy talk to get noticed....kinda like this forum. only in their case, guys like skip bayless are laughing all the way to the bank. -
Bills to meet with Rogers Communications

you must never enjoy a broadway show at Shea's Theatre....you know, cause it's only good on broadway in new york city. the nerve of those people bringing their product to another city in a blatant money grab. besides, the audience in nyc cheer much louder than here in buffalo, which makes it feel like a real performance. -

when the bills start winning and putting a better product on the field, the attendance in toronto will improve. from the bills standpoint, that game is a sellout. it will always be on tv. the fact rogers is having difficulty "re-selling" tix is do to price and a crappy product....both will be adjusted. anyone who thinks the dramatic increases in attendance at the ralph from rochester and toronto fans would have occured anyways without regionalization efforts is uninformed. ralph and russ wisely planted their flag in southern ontario before someone else did. with toronto the bills are the 4th largest NFL market. that is very attractive to a new owner. -

when the % of southern ontario fans who attend games in orchard park goes from 10% (pre toronto series) to 20% this past season......you can bet all the free media coverage had something to do with it. the bills are benefiting financially from increased ticket sales at the ralph. and seeing as they struggled to sell out most home games, that is significant. -
players execute..... the bills were #1 by far in rushing attempts. did you want Hackett to call more running plays ?? the passing game stunk. hackett tried his best to limit EJ's mediocrity and the piss poor pass protection. i'm no fan of Hackett yet, but to blame him first, is not the way i see it.

from a business standpoint, it's pure genius. the amount of FREE media coverage from southern ontario newspapers, radio & TV of a game actually played in Toronto is worth tens of millions of dollars. do you think we would get the same exposure of games played at the Ralph, without the toronto series ?......no way. from a competitive standpoint, giving up home field advantage for a nuetral site is a steep price to pay. i call it a necessary evil. -

you should be thanking Russ....without his regionaliztion efforts this franchise would be gone. without regionaliztion, other than the home opener, all home games would be a blackout. without regionaliztion, the recent 10 year deal (ironclad for 7) would never have happened. without regionalization, it would be a virtual certainty the next owner would relocate to a new city. buffalo alone, can no longer support an NFL franchise, embrace regionaliztion. 7 home games are better than none. -
What's most interesting about the Eagles situation is Chip Kelly's insistence that NFL teams need two starting-caliber quarterbacks to make it through the season. "It's a very, very difficult position to play. Everybody is hitting you, and they're protected by rules but they also still take some unbelievable shots," Kelly recently explained, via the Cowboys official website. "I think, if you're going to last as a team, you'd better have two." http://www.nfl.com/n...gles-kelly-says IMO: we're not even sure we have one....and unless EJ changes his running style, he won't make it through a season injury free.
