why would a GM fighting for his immediate survival look to the future by trading away this years draft assets for future year assets ? the last time whaley thought his job was on the line, he did just the opposite of what OP is proposing by using future draft picks to trade up for sammy. this a QB driven league any of the Top 4 QB's coming out this year will be better than cardale jones. TT's contract says they don't believe he is the long term answer. stop putting off drafting the QB of the future.....use the #10 pick on a QB

peterson is just not the same superstar RB he is in serious decline, a poor pass blocker, damaged goods injury wise, getting up in age he runs best when the qb is under center....not NE he runs best with a FB lead blocker....not NE this makes no sense for either side unless he is willing to accept backup money and touches

you will NEVER get players and coaches to "tank".....their livelihoods here or on another team are at stake. it is highly UNLIKELY you will get a dead man walking, half lame duck GM (whaley) who needs to make the playoffs to have any shot at keeping his job willing to tank......errr, I mean look to the long term future. it is highly UNLIKELY you will get a fairly new team owner who just acknowledged the pain the fans have endured from all these losing seasons to throw away the 2017 season. having said that....as the team is currently constructed, you are only one TT season ending injury from it happening on it's own.

Bills want "success" before building new stadium ...... IS JUST A FEEL GOOD SMOKE SCREEN. it help fits the secret preferred "DELAY" narrative the Pegula's are just NOT in a hurry to fork over $1 billion of their own money to help fund a new stadium when the one they currently play in is perfectly fine for at least another 10 years. the only folks in a hurry are a handful of his fellow owners.

whaley is dead man walking he has done nothing to distinguish himself at best he is mediocre he is being marginalized as we speak. he could be gone a week after the draft and very likely before next season.

in these high stakes interactions between powerful individuals there will be times when they are like minded and get along while at other times their disagreements can turn ugly. it's not hard to imagine the TT decision was not like minded and whaley (& possibly russ) lost that one so when Pegula claims they are getting along and says reports stating otherwise are "erroneous"(some errors) .....that can be mostly true.
