  1. Shefter reported that Martin has $7M base salary in 2017 of which the guaranteed portion will be voided. I wish the Bills did that in Dareus' contract.
  2. Some qualities that stick out to me for successful coaches are 1) they are good teachers. They pay attention to detail and they make time to correct mistakes right away. Bill Walsh and Bill Belichick come to mind. 2) they are true leaders and motivate their players. Marv Levy, Mike Tomlin, John Harbaugh and Pete Carroll. 3) they are proactive in their approach. They bring changes to the game - shotgun, flex d, no huddle offense to name a few. They are also proactive when it comes to personnel. Their teams are disciplined and well coached. Problem players are benched, cut or traded.
  3. NFL teams get their players to redo contracts on a fairly regular basis. The Bills could approach Tyrod but who know if he'll agree to do it.
  4. Shanahan will have many interview opportunities. The Bills will have to sell the job to Kyle Shanahan. Pegula has the money so that's not an issue anymore but the Bills are so dysfunctional. They will have to demonstrate that they got their act together. Shanahan is pretty experienced and he is young. He's my top choice.
  5. Back in 1969, the Bills had the overall #1 pick and took OJ. My dad bought season tickets shortly after. Going to Bills games with my dad and watching OJ was unbelievable. Seeing 80,000 fans stand every time OJ got the ball and hearing them scream "juice" after a good run was exhilirating and loud. Been hooked ever since. I hope they get their act together. All of you younger fans deserve it after what we've seen lately.
  6. This is all smoke and mirrors by the Bills PR. None of these defensive guys will be retained. Even if Lynn makes HC, he will hire an OC and a DC. The coordinators will fill out their staffs. Maybe Kromer gets OC and he retains offensive staff. You have to blow it up on defense.
  7. From W - L standpoint, the Bills look close to making the playoffs but their schedule was really soft this year. They beat Keenum, Kap, Brisett, Palmer, RG3, and Bortles. They lost to Fitz, Tannehill, and Matt Moore. Their problems go much deeper than firing Rex Ryan. This team has a ways to go to make the playoffs and seriously contend for the Super Bowl.
  8. I think Rex got fired because the Bills were officially eliminated this weekend. Pegula was waiting until that happened.
  9. Whaley needs to pick next HC. If it's a bad hire, fire HC and Whaley. Hopefully Pegula gets this part right and let's Whaley do his job. I'm not totally convinced Whaley gets it right.
  10. Run defense Bad tackling Lack of depth 2 minute offense bad Special teams Passing game Defense doesn't get enough turnovers Attention to detail in all phases
  11. I'm not defending Carpenter regarding his kicking. He did grow his hair long so his hair could be donated to make wigs for cancer patients. That's cool. Way to go. Good luck at your next stop Carp!
  12. This game showed that the Bills have many issues even though Tyrod had a good game. They need help at safety, lb, dt, cb, wr, rt, k and Tyrod needs to be more consistent. Need to get a qb to replace Manuel.
  13. At this point, I'll take the best pure tackler out there.
  14. They need to upgrade Mills and keep developing Miller. I think Miller has made signicant progress from his rookie year. Mills should be a backup OT. When you look at the Bills Super Bowl teams, everyone talks about Kelly, Thurman, Reed and Bruce. Their O line was awesome. The Bills current O line is pretty good. Shady makes them look better than they are imo. Wood was a pretty good center but he has had some pretty serious leg injuries. Probably need to draft a center in the next year or two. Good analysis.
  15. No secure bomb shelter but thanks for the laugh. I've actually watched quite a few Jaguars games. They have a terrible record and Bortles does have bad mechanics. His head coach just got fired so maybe the new HC will want a different qb. If you are the Bills, and thank God you and I aren't, they need to consider everything! Teams don't give up QBS who are playing well. This guy is 6'5 and sees the field pretty well. If he gets his mechanics straightened out, I think he could be pretty good imo.
  16. I could see the Bills blowing it up big time, firing only Rex, or staying pat. They will explain away any of these scenarios which would appease some of the fans and ticking off the rest. I think the Bills organization as a whole lacks a focused plan thus mediocre results if not worse.
  17. I'm OK with Rex being fired at the end of the season. My point was regarding the rumor that he had already been informed by Pegula that he was going to be relieved. Either fire him now or bite your tongue until end of season.
  18. 1 - renegotiate Tyrods contract. Bring in a veteran guy. Let them battle it out in camp. Maybe draft a qb. 2 - if Tyrod won't renegotiate, cut him. Trade for a qb, one that is mentioned above. I'll add Bortles as another possibility. Draft a qb.
  19. Pegula seems like a good guy. I seriously doubt he would do this to Rex. Rex seems like a good guy and regardless of how you feel about him, he doesn't deserve this.
  20. A balanced view. Ok. The Bills had the 4th overall d before Ryan. Now they are like 20th. Defense is supposedly his strength. They have given up two 200 yard rushers this year. They don't have a quality win this year. Their passing offense is terrible. You make it sound like all they need is a legit qb and all their problems are solved. Seriously?
  21. Since you are happy with the Bills. I hope they don't change anything for you.
