  1. I disagree. The Bills can't afford to sit back and wait for Hardy or Johnson anymore than they can afford to wait for Chris Ellis at DE. Obviously, they can't completely give up on any of them, but the fact is, they need immediate help at both positions. That does not necessarily mean that they must sign Bryant or burn a high pick at WR, but if they believe they can acquire a top WR this offseason who would provide an instant upgrade to this offense, they should certainly give it strong consideration. That's especially true given that they're already likely to add a midround WR in the draft or a decent FA at the position, anyway.

I understnad what your saying, but you say "we can't afford to sit back and wait for Hardy or Johnson anymore

    .

We really havn't been waiting on them too long right? Did we not see good improvement from Johnson when given the chance. When given the opportunity he showed that he could put points up on the board. What I liked most about him was his ability to give us a inside the ten yard red zone slant pattern option for points. We havnt had that in many years. His thick 6-2 big body frame helped out, and I have the feeling if we commit to him next year and give him the opportunity to start he will put up good numbers. As far as Hardy is concerned and his injury, well, that sucks. I hate that he has had this knee injury and I'm thinking that will hinder his progress for 2010, I hope I'm wrong. I like his work ethic and his size and leaping ability. But Johnson I think is gonna surprise a lot of people next year and I believe the Bills Brass is taking notice.

  2. Superbowl against the Cowboys, Early drive in the second half, We're driving and Kelly throws a pass to Metzellars, Metzellars slips and Cowboys intercept the ball and the rest is history....

I remember that game, Jimmy Johnson makes the decisions for the Cowboys to wear special shoes for the games so the players wouldnt slip as much and I think that made a big difference in the final outcome.

  3. Link is in above post as 1 reason I would definatley sign him.

Its amazing how some here would like to keep the status QUO in Recievers- Hello we have been 7-9 the last 3 years witht hese receivers an upgrade is seriously over due!!!!

    Wrong

we have not been 7-9 with these same recievers the last 3 years. Hardy and Johnson are both newcomers, and have lots of upside between the two of them and it would be silly not to explore that route, before we commit Millions of dollars in a player that has had a terribly inconsistant career. Of course you can't see that, cuz your a miserable negative person.

  4. As much as I realize how important it is for the Bills to have a better 1 - 2 punch at the WR position, I am hopeful that Steve Johnson can be the man. There are 3 to 4 guys that are competent enough on this team in my view to make up a succeful WR crew. What we have been lacking is a true 1 - 2. We have a few three's, but I have a feeling that Steve Johnson can fill that void. I wouldn't be upset if Bryant was signed because there is no doubt that it would be an upgrade from what we have, but at $6 Million a year, and having Steve Johnson and Hardy, I think the money would be better spent in other area's on improving this team. I think it is worth it to go with the WR group that we have another year since we do have 2 young guys that do show promise.

  5. He was decent enough to be named Rookie of the year. He played MUCH better than Trent last year & that is a fact. If Flacco was on the Bills in 08, I think the Bills make the playoffs.

No he didn't you friggin blind fool

The fact of the matter is that we are much better at our QB position then we have in a long time and it is only improving.

Too many of you are so negative about everything that you carry your dreary pathetic lives onto this message board. You can't get the shiaat out of your eyes and see whats good.

People want to trade Lynch, people want to cut Peters, people want to bash Edwards. I guarantee you that these three players will have a succeful NFL career, hopefully the morons like a lot of you won't run them out of town.

  6. even though, (according to this article) cutting kelsey doesn't free up salary cap room, I'm pretty sure RW's bottom line cost for 2010 would be less if he were to cut Kelsay than if he didn't. I think that's what really matters in RW's opinion. So if that is the case, then it would essentially free up some money to sign other players.

I wouldn't mind keeping Kelsey, but as everyone knows he is not worth anywhere near his salary. He would have to take a substantial pay cut to stay with the Bills in my view.

I usually take the optimistic view on things, because I know that there is no better way, but Kelsey has got to go.

  7. Three years ago the Bills entered the offseason fresh off a 5-11 record, the firing of a maniacal GM and an abrupt departure of their HC. In came Levy and Jauron to right the ship, but three 7-9 seasons later it would seem only the means to achieve mediocrity have changed.

In 06, the Bills schedule included 8 games against eventual playoff teams. In those eight contests, Buffalo managed a 1-7 record, while going 6-2 against other opponents. The Bills entered the bye week 2-5, but finished 5-4. Beating the Jets 31-13 in the Meadowlands represented their lone victory versus a playoff-bound team. Buffalo's combined opponents winning percentage was .539. 06 Bills strength of schedule

Fast forward to 08. Buffalo played the 31st ranked strength of schedule, finished 2-8 in their final 10 after starting 5-1.

Individual player talent may be similar from 06 to 08, but the end results suggest that the sum isn't nearly greater than the parts. Upgrades are still required at a host of positions, namely C, TE, SLB, and DE. Contrast that with the varying and obvious needs this team has had after 06, 07, and 08 and it seems nothing changes in the end.

    and your point?

  8. Not at all. Let's get real. The front office knows now that Jauron can't coach. Probably a lame duck season for him. Most of the players know this too which means they're playing for a guy in which they don't believe and one whom is likely to be fired. The fans for the most part certainly see this as well as does the media. Jauron is retaining his coordinators which likely means the same unsuccessful styles of offense and defense will be deployed.

The Bills will be irrelevant in 2009. The best we have to look forward to (realistically) is some new young talent to be drafted that the next coaching staff can work with. Maybe a free agent or two. Jauron getting canned at the end of the year would be the best news for this franchise in 3 years or so. Barring some sort of miracle, the Bills will again be below .500.

    Not negative people. It's real.

I should have posted this yesterday. Grounhog day would have been the perfect time.

  9. Amazing how consistant people are here. The first reaction is to criticize the validity of the idea. It doens't matter if he has the money or not, the point is that it makes a lot of sense economically and for the viability of keeping a Bills team here in Western New York. Let's be real here, $$ makes the world go round, and building a bigger fan base then what we have is very important in keeping a Bills team here near Buffalo. The idea of connecting more with the Canadian fan base is most likely the key stimulus that the Bills need to stay. It makes a lot more sense to me that Canadians will feel more connection with a team based out of Niagara Falls, than as opposed to a team that has it's roots to Buffalo. The idea of winning Toronto fans to root for the Buffalo Bills will have a limited impact. Where as if you start a new team, that is located closer to Toronto, and has a Canadian Tie to it 'NIAGARA FALLS' will have a much better chance of winning those fans over.

I mean give me a friggin break! you are criticizing some one who is trying to think of ideas of how to keep the Bills in Western New York.

    :w00t:

  10. It would be good if the Bills could trade CB McGee for a 3rd round pick or trade him even up with KC for their star TE. This would give them the Big TE they need for the next few years. The cornerback positions could be covered with McKelvin, Greer, Youboty and Corner with a draft pick this year or a FA.

It would also be good if the Bills trade down low enough to pick up a extra pick hopefully a 2nd round pick. This would also allow them to draft a Center or a TE of quality in the first round. Maybe even a DE or DT. The Bills need help and maybe this is a way for them to get themselves better quicker. It is all within reason.

I don't usually subscribe to the trading philosophies to improve a team unless it absolutely makes sense. The more I think about it, I think a trade of Mcgee and a late round pick for Winslow from Cleveland makes a lot of sense. Mcgee will most likely not be retained from the Bills after next year because of the very high price tag he will most likely command, it seems as if we have a lot of depth at Db so we should be fine there, Mckelvin seems to be the answer on the defensive and return aspect so that helps in that area and Winslow seems to be wearing out his welcome in Cleveland and they do badly need a DB. So instead of losing Mcgee for nothing we can fill a need with a probowl, young calibur player in Winslow

Makes sense to me, time to take a risk!!

  11. Please explain to me how the Ravens have a monster DL? Halot Ngata is a very nice player. Other than that who's the monster Jarret Johnson, Trevor Pryce, or our very own Justin Bannan. If you try telling me Pryce is still playing at an elite level, I'm going to tell you he had 4.5 sacks this year and 27 tackles. Last year he had 17 tackles and 2 sacks. I also consider the Steelers to have a fairly successful defense as well. Do you think that players like Hampton. Smith, and Keisel are amongst the NFL elite? I think they are very nice role players. Casey Hampton has 5.5 career sacks because they don't rely on their tackles to rush the quarterback. The Jests, Cowboys, and Chargers have also played good defense without being stacked on the line. Kris Jenkins and Jamaal Williams are both really nice players but IMO, not impossible pieces to aquire. The *Pats are stacked on the line and they play more 4-3 than any of these other teams. I'm not trying to say that the 3-4 is far and away the best system. I just think it's the best option for the Bills.

    ummm

you just mentioned it. Haloti Ngata

    He qualifies as a monster

  12. With less than 10 seconds left in the game, this looked like a pretty close call...and since the Cardinals had proved the on-field officials wrong before in the game, why not review what was ruled a Warner fumble when his arm was moving forward with the ball? If it was Tom Brady, that pass attempt would probably have been ruled incomplete from upstairs. If it was a fumble, fine, but the play call was certainly close enough to warrant an under-two-minutes booth review. It was almost like the network wanted to air the "Office" and rushed to end the game.

I found that very odd as well. Next thing you know

    The game was over......

  13. Ya, I remember reading a ridiculous thread implying that there wasn't a single player from the Bills that couldn't start for either one of the two teams that played last night in the super bowl. The first player that came to mind to me was Peters for Gandy.

I hear this ridiculous notion that we shouldn't extend Peters contract until he plays better, NEWS FLASH, he all ready has played "better" than over %90 of the starting Tackles in the NFL and if we don't sign him, then we will lose him, then we will be stuck with players like Gandy.

You pay to play in this league.

  14. Yeah? How many fat WRs have you seen lately? DEs? There's a HUGE correlation. Taking into consideration position, you'd even increase it.

The least "cut" positions are usually DTs, especially DTs of the "space eater" type, and interior OLs, especially guards. Centers in most schemes have to run, so they don't usually get to put on weight.

However, a fat guy who loses weight almost always increases his quickness, his stamina, and those are key at every single position out there.

weren't we talking about DT's? Think about it for a sec, maybe %20 of the good DT's in the NFL have a body to be considered not "obese".
