Of course, they didn't think that there was any way T.O. would come to Buffalo either.

Rosenhaus has tricked us twice now, he earns his money
vincec replied to billsfreak's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Unless TO wants to end his career here, which he doesn't, he will be on his best behavior so that he can jump to a larger market next season. It goes without saying that the man can play, so let's make 'em weep while we've got him. People are saying that he will have trouble with Trent, but let me tell you that if the Bills can get a decent TE to go along with Owens, Trent will be a pro bowler next season. -
You know that Drew Rosenhaus was lying because his mouth was moving.

This is an outrage. What happened to signing "high character players?" Does anyone really think that TO will be able to work with Edwards? or not show up Evans? or not bad mouth Dick & Turk? This makes absolutely no sense.

Me too... McGee is a better corner than Greer, plus he's a big time kick returner. He's the one we need to resign, even if it costs a little more.

So Far We've Lost More Talent Then We've Gained
vincec replied to box0life's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's all musical chairs. The only difference between the guys we've added and the ones we've lost is the arrangement of letters on the back of their jerseys. Buffalo was in no position to add a difference making free agent, like Haynesworth. The upcoming season will be decided by how Trent Edwards and Aaron Schobel play. The future beyond that will be decided by our draft and the development of our young players. -
My thoughts exactly. Greer is a better corner than Florence, plus he knows the system, but we can't afford to pay him 6mil to be a nickel corner. McKelvin is being groomed to be the number two. I sure hope that we resign McGee though.

This may be unpopular, but... I actually thought Willis was a good pick. Although with his knee injury I'd agree that he may not have been a steal or maybe even the "best available player", the thought of him platooning with Henry sounded like a pretty good backfield to me. He sure looked worth it after his first season of playing. The situation was mismanaged and we ended up kicking Henry to the curb for practically nothing (as always happens).

Carolina OL Geoff Hangartner signs with the Bills
vincec replied to kdipirro's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not so sure about that. It just sounds like a shuffling of equivalent players. Maybe the new guys will "fit" better ... or at least cost less. We still need to draft some guys here for a real long term solution. -

Foxworth Signs With the Ravens and......................
vincec replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lewis would be a huge upgrade. I can't believe that he doesn't want to resign with Baltimore. He's probably just mad that the other guys are leaving. -
Maybe at the right price, but spending lots of $ on a receiver is a waste of money. Maybe if he was the final piece of the puzzle or something...

15 - Jack Kemp - Quarterback (Jim Kelly was a great QB. Jack Kemp was a champion) 2 - Steve Christie - Kicker (the guy I want out there with the game on the line) 8 - Brian Moorman - Punter (very close between him and McGuire) 32 - OJ Simpson - Running Back (personal feelings aside, you gotta have him on the team) 80 - Eric Moulds - Wide Receiver (would be a hall of famer if he ever played with a real QB) 44 - Elbert Dubenion - Wide Receiver 83 - Andre Reed - Wide Receiver 84 - Ernie Warlick - Tight End 68 - Joe DeLamielleure - Offensive Line 67 - Kent Hull - Offensive Line 64/77 - Stew Barber - Offensive Line 66 - Billy Shaw - Offensive Line 75 - Harold Ballard - Offensive Line 89 - Steve Tasker - Special Teams I know it's looking like a run oriented team, but with all respect to the K-Gun, that's what football in Buffalo is all about. In fact, lets take out Eric Moulds and add Cookie Gilchrist. What's with this 3 WR stuff?
-
Take the best player available regardless of position. You can always trade somebody to if a position becomes crowded and you can never have too many good linemen. That being said, given his issues, I'm not sure that he'd be the best pick at #11. It depends who else is up there.
-
As was indicated in the Buffalo News article, there's no way that he signs here unless we trade either Jackson or Lynch. Either way, it's a downgrade a running back... but hey, maybe we'll get some draft picks so that we can address this new weakness that we created.
-
This is about the only thing that makes sense as to why we wouldn't want or be able to sign Crowell. Otherwise, it's just ineptitude IMO. Actually, it's ineptitude anyway as to the way the surgery and IR was handled. It probably cost us another good player. Oh well, back to the draft board...
-
I'm surprised that people don't think a little more of Crowell. We really have a need at outside linebacker and he was pretty good when he was healthy. He would be a huge upgrade over Ellison and with his injury history, I'll bet we can retain him relatively cheaply. Otherwise, it's just another need position to fill. We have enough of those.

I think that Bills would do far better focusing on the draft than on free agents, especially big name ones. This is especially true as a small market team. John Madden always says that free agents hurt the team that they leave more than they help the team they go to and I agree with him. They are usually expensive players and there's no way to know what the "fit" will be like with a new team. You are essentially paying for what they did at their previous team without knowing if they can do it for yours (different system, coaches, teammates, etc.).

Browns are trying to trade Derek Anderson
vincec replied to bananathumb's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah. I'd take Anderson. He's still young and has produced in one season at least, so it's possible that he can do it again in this league. He would be competition for Trent an Dick likes that. You can't give up too much for him though. I think a 5th is about right straight up. We could work out some kind of package deal though. As has been mentioned, he would have to redo his contract. I also like the Culpepper idea. I'm sure that he didn't forget how to play (see Kurt Warner) and he was never that mobile to start with. He would definitely provide the veteran presence that Dick says he is looking for. He would need to come in with the right attitude though. That's my biggest concern. -
Huh? I thought we were talking about football...

Steve Johnson = Larry Fitzgerald
vincec replied to Glass To The Arson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes. -
I agree completely about Dockery, but I think that Langston Walker has played pretty well and definitely lived up to his contract, which is smaller than Dockery's. I'm surprised to hear people picking on him.

Lets see how many of you can guess our new #2 QB
vincec replied to DIE HARD 1967's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know that I've posted this before, but trust me, I live in Charlotte and watched David Carr start almost half the season last year. He is not an NFL quarterback.
