  1. http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/rankings/cap-hit/tight-end/ He's also 15th for cap hit among tight ends on otc: http://overthecap.com/position/tight-end/2015/ He's 4th on overall contract, and why in the world should we care? I understand why we, as fans, should care about the cap, as it affects how we get other players. However, what does it matter to us, when and how he gets his money -- Pegula is the 4th richest owner in the league. Enjoy it. For the record, otc & sportrac now both have Clay listed as the #1 hit in 2016 (it was listed around 15 before), but I've heard there were plans to renegotiate in any case. If not, ok, that's too much, but chances are -- like Suh's hasty 28m hit for the Fins in '16, it will likely indeed be renegotiated.
  2. Sportstrac has all the contract details. Clay's contract makes him about the 15th or 16th highest paid TE in 2015 & 2016 against the cap, which sounds about right to me. McCoy's ranked 7th & 6th for the next two years -- and you could make an argument he's the best RB in the game (definitely top 5), and going into the year that is traditionally a RBs most productive year (that oft-cited study can be read two ways and age 27 is the peak). Sooo, if McCoy gets 2000 yards and Clay is a great outlet for Manuel or Cassel (or Taylor), it's still a bad bet. I semi-respectfully disagree. Sorry, I'm just sick of this misconception that they grossly overpaid for Clay & McCoy, or that it would mean them not re-signing Dareus, Glenn, Gilmore, and/or Bradham. It just doesn't hold up to the facts or math or anything. Besides, what we really should be complaining about is Garrison Sanborn's contract. Over a million dollars for a long snapper?!?!?!? It's the 30th largest cap hit of 2015. Outrage! Doooooooomed! Etc.!
  3. Actually, both the players he mentioned are going to command roughly twice what McCoy will be making, so by basic math, if we cut these guys it's not going to be because of Shady. Plus, we would not likely be starting the season w/ Freddie or Bryce as the starting RB, so, it's not like we're spending the whole 5.5 mil more anyway, b/c we'd have to be paying someone a few million. You can use statistics to prove anything...forfty percent of all people know that!
  4. My vote is a bit misleading -- I'm in NYC, and despise the Jets, but for various reasons (some fantasy, some friend fans), the Giants have become a goto 2nd team (but light years behind my Bills fandom).
  5. That completely ignores any economics. Just plain bizarre.
  6. While I agree with your basic premise to some degree (well, Sully), to be fair, this article drew a sharply different conclusion than the Syracuse article. The BN feature is actually contesting the notion with some solid points (the Syracuse article was agreeing with the opinion). That list was ridiculous as McCown is older and has 2 fewer above average seasons than Cassel (and Manziel cannot be considered anything but a trainwreck at this point until he proves otherwise). And the Jags and Jets not in the bottom 5 (Bortles has shown nothing and Smith has about as many good games as Manuel and waaaaay more atrocious games)? It was just someone running with a groupthink opinion that wasn't well thought out -- that the Bills have a bad QB situation and that's that. It's true, but there are too many total disasters out there to peg the Bills as the worst. The headline is just an obvious one, as is the poll -- uninventive, but certainly not at the level to call for someone's livelihood .
  7. Have you ever tried to watch anything on Yahoo! Screen? If so, I hope you've had better luck than I have -- it tends to buffer and freeze a lot; it's hard to pair with any casting device. I love "Community," and feel this has been a great season, but am now episodes behind, b/c it's just near-impossible to try to watch. Hopefully they will grow by leaps and bounds by then, but it's definitely valid and not overly petty to protest a "free" thing if it's something that is time-sensitive, for which you are currently paying, and which now you may not be able to get. If you cannot watch the game, are you not going to be upset? The Bills Bars in NYC go crazy when the satellites go down. This seems the most basic of fan desires, the ability to actually watch the game.
  8. It's one comment when prompted by Rodak, tempest, teapot, etc.
  9. He's 42! I know it well b/c he's the only NFL player left older than me...
  10. Bills now have 4 of Rivals' 2011 top 15 (h/t to post likely about to be merged) and 2 of 2010 top 10 (had 3 as good ol' da'rick was #9 that year)...if they picked La'el in the 7th...(not that I'm advocating anything like that...I'm fired, aren't I?) DE Ray Drew and WR George Farmer could also up that number
  11. He's a five-star recruit, top lb (or olb) in his class, who had many injuries and never quite lived up to his potential. He was around 236 on Fanspeak, fwiw. It's definitely a classic Whaley pick: he loves those five-star recruited underachievers.
  12. Can we all stop with this. It's not an amazing pick (although, for the record, he was on the 5 or so players I really wanted when we came to the podium), nor is it a sexy pick, but it is a solid #50 pick, and anything but a reach. Darby was a very highly regarded CB throughout the web, not just one "obscure draft 'expert'." CBS Sports had him as the #30 prospect. Walter Football (yeah, i know) listed him as the #5 CB in the draft. Most sites I saw listed him as an early 2nd rounder, with some possibility of going in the late 20s. Fanspeak had him in the 40s. My co-worker and draft obsessive (he's in multiple college football fantasy leagues) went to FSU and is a fanatic about them (a Fins fan unfortunately), and has hawkishly watched his every game was touting him as someone who would be a steal for the Bills at 50. Moreover, his opponents knew him as he was the least thrown at cornerback in all of college football. He allowed only 9 receptions and no TDs in 2013. I know the TBD treehouse has a "NO CBs" sign by the door, but with all the talk here about this being a passing league, how exactly do you stop them...with excellent CB play.
  13. Yep, really sucks having the #3 pass defense in the league. And he was listed as a 3rd rounder by no one. In fact, the only post 1st round mock I saw today had him going first today. I know this board hates CBs, but this board also rants about how it's a pass-driven league, and presumes that means you need to have a pass-centric offense...no, in fact, a counterpunch, as the Bills are pushing out, may be the best way to go; however, it does mean you want to have plenty of cornerbacks. How many people here who are complaining about taking CBs with high picks also complained about Justin Rogers starting when our top 3 CBs went down. THAT is why it is good to have a ton of them.
  14. Not really. Forsett and Ingram had one good season and part of a good season between them. Matthews has been erratic and injury prone. Bush and Gore are over 30. Other than DeMarco Murray (and even had trouble staying healthy before last year's monster of a season), there were a lot of question marks/RBs with similar histories to Spiller.
  15. Ravens won with Trent Dilfer. Joe Flacco is a decent QB but not a worldbeater. How much of the Seahawks success was Russell Wilson and how much of it was Lynch keeping drives alive while the D dominated? Having a great QB is huge, but they are rare and when so many people are touting Sanchez, it's a sign there's just not much out there. The Bills are not likely to have a franchise QB (whatever that means) or to be able to acquire one anytime soon -- however, they do have an awesome defense and now one of the 2 or 3 best running backs in the league. There are offensive linemen available in free agency. This seems the smart way to go!
  16. The Bills are 8th overall in cap space...the Bills are one of the teams WITH money. Suh might be a crazy idea...but let's exorcise this silly Eeyore mentality. If the Bills aren't players in the free agency period, it's not for lack of money or cap space.
  17. The point (at least to me) is that there's a good chance he won't blow his knees out. If he stays here and plays well in the set-up which allowed him to be in the enviable position he is in now, that contract ends and he's 30, 31, and can re-up with another huge contract. If he goes somewhere else, and it turns out his success was due to the system and surroundings (said 3 pro-bowlers on line), this may be his last contract.
  18. Actually, not any reflection on Kaep (although i wouldn't make that trade...seriously, the bills have something going right and we want to trade it), just miss Paula's Donuts.
  19. Oooh, but not a maple or peanut doughnut...those are worth something!
  20. The first two are points, if a bit overblown. The third is ridiculous...before that, the highest rushing total the Bills had allowed to a TEAM was 86. Also, do you not think that the same could be said on the other side of the ball? The Bills are #1 in the league in sacks and the Jets have only allowed one fewer sack. And I'd bet on Kyle Orton to handle it better than Geno "28 interceptions in 23 career games" Smith. Not saying playing the Jets on the road is a breeze...they could very well lose a game they should win. It's just the lack of perspective and the negativity double-standards by a lot of people on TBD.
  21. CJ Spiller for 80 yards and a TD, juking D.K. Suh AND Cam Newton's former teammate...
  22. (1) You could look at just about any draft for any team with this logic (2) If they had drafted any of those other players at #3, Dareus would be on the "could have drafted" side of your list (3) Andy Dalton is so overrated (if the Bills had him, he'd be torn to pieces on this site, a la Manuel), and Aaron Williams is on the verge of being a perennial Pro Bowler...
