  1. The press really did a job on this one...if you read the entire quote, you see that he qualifies the top tier as a few absolute elites and names them (Brady, Rodgers, Big Ben) . With that being said, there's no way that Russell Wilson is in there but he did not say it to disparage him. Just our awesome press at work desperate for click bait.
  2. Obviously it's the pressure element from last/this year that's at the core of everyone's issue and driving the comparison. Pressure forces bad decisions and turnovers...we did a lot of that last year to set up our wins. The difference in pressure/turnovers and penalties are very hard to ignore and not discuss. If the system was working otherwise, the complaining would be a lot less....but the system has failed and failed miserably to the point where there's absolutely nothing to takeaway from this year (except Darby - thank god this scheme couldn't damage our CB's too badly). We're left with fatty blowhards empty statements and some fans here that need 2 more years of this before being convinced. Let's kick Mario and Kyle to the curb just to see if this works.
  3. "soft as puppy sh-t" The best description of this garbage system/implementation I have heard so far. I have a very hard time with the idea that he should be granted latitude with personnel to get this thing right.
  4. I've heard of him. and NO.
  5. C'mon man.
  6. I understand the need for continuity and building but none of that will prevent our being out-coached next season (as we were so many times this year).
  7. It's hick for "we're going to draft a smurfy little WR speedster bust instead of Russell Wilson"
  8. These are the little details that, when combined with all of the others, amount to a difference maker. The cheats have these little details mastered and often use them (legitimately) to gain an edge. Pisses me off!
  9. Because you're not thinking of how you're going to make the first move to avoid the gunner looking to decapitate you.
  10. Pettine as Asst. HC would be the play…he didn't exactly fail here…he was promoted away because of success. Bring him back with a non-coordinator title like that and it's better than he would see anywhere else. He is not eating crow by being Rex's coordinator b-tch…and it is a bit of a shot across Rex's bow…one he can handle. They know each other well and Pettine has a track record with almost the same def personnel as we have now.
  11. Could not believe Shady did that and that I actually watched it on TV…. Kyle is exactly the defensive version of Eric Moulds - nicely done. Rex is still fat but much less fatter than he used to be….he is, however, all the mouth and drama that he used to be and more.
  12. I wish I thought of that…it's that good.
  13. I loved it. Mea Culpa
  14. I can name you one that NEEDS this position given it's circumstances (pre- existing structure, losing culture, and it's brand new ownership that admittedly isn't equipped for that sort of duty) Don't care who already has it…many teams have someone that fills that owner to GM gap. This isn't a new idea. Were we not begging Polian to take this very position not too long ago? Terry spent 1.4B on this thing….I will let his actions do the talking. I do not think he goes into next season without having a guy of his own inside the football operation.
  15. The GM of course but, I am talking about building the top-down process/mentality around the actual football decision-making. This can mean the difference between a winning and losing culture.
  16. I like the choice, not only for his track record of building/sustaining a perennial winner but especially because the GB fan base is the closest to the Bills as one could get in the NFL. Coming from an environment where success is an expectation, not an option, is a very attractive element to that choice as well. Interesting guy for sure: http://www.packers.com/team/staff/ted-thompson/7d1caee3-e8f2-4e20-b304-98064f608dbb
  17. Shady: Can I be invited to your next party?
  18. So one actual and one hypothetical and it's a lost cause? Parcells was never a personnel guy and warred with his GMs as a HC. He turned around franchises from the HC position [NYG/NE/DAL], was not a fit for a czar position...lets not let him define the role. We need a proven front office type in this role so we dont crumble from the top down. Its not another chef, its a manager that understands the restaurant business, how to handle a head chef, the inner workings of the kitchen and where to spend/save money on the quality of the menu. or something like that
  19. The Owner of the team may disagree. He has yet to insert HIS guy into the executive layer.
  20. All I have left to root for is Brady's knee getting hurt just enough for him to retire, then heal up for him to have a happy after-football life.
  21. This is why Mario wanted out of Houston…the scheme there changed and he was in a 3-4 OLB role. I recall reading their fan reactions when we got him as a FA, they all pointed to him disappearing for several game spans in the last year or 2 of his tenure when he was unhappy.
  22. In my opinion, the only fix for this situation. The HC is probably try to muscle the personnel process to fit his system. The GM probably not interested in what the HC thinks after taking his roster and shttng the bed with it (especially on defense). The GM has failed in certain core aspects of building a winner (OL). The penalties are out of control and there are free agents that need to be signed and others shown the door. The money and draft choices have to be directed in a manner that helps us win games and cure these ills. I think we are in a lot of trouble if we do not add a respected non-owner management presence above every last element of this product because its not improving. Someone that carries absolute respect when it comes to the owner, front office and staff. Bill Polian is obviously the model here... Who are the other Polian types out there that possibly have ties to the owner/Bills/Buffalo?
  23. The officiating process is unbearable…it used to be a huddle every so often on a big call…they now huddle on seemingly every call…even false starts!! This is an entertainment product and garbage officiating, along with the scores of "dumb guys that will do anything for a shtty can of domestic beer" commercials, are making it hard for me to want to invest more time. Why no fair catch Thigpen? As supposed defensive guru's, where do they expect turnovers to come from if they do not add a pressure element to their defense until the 4th Q? Puppy Sh-t was the most applicable term for this defense I have heard all season.
  24. Those were different times, it's probably an act of terrorism these days. As this guy would have said: goal post "tare" I say do it anyway….viva la revolution!
