Putting Together a 3-4 Defense
bobobonators replied to thebandit27's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Great post man! 1. If Dareus is there, he must be taken. DE solved. 2. I agree as well - let TT continue to develope! KW didn't dominate right off the bat. DT/NT's take a couple of seasons to grow into the position at the NFL level. 3. If this team is absolutely sold on Sam Acho, I would have no issues either, 1. trading back into later in the 2nd round and grabbing him there, or 2. trading back up into the 2nd round and grabbing him there. Acho is still a bit raw, but his ceiling is potentially much higher than some of the OLB/DE that will be taken in the 1st round. -
Who is worthy of our second pick in the draft?

Kyle Rudolph - Would fit in perfectly into Chan's system and instantly improve our offense. -
2nd Best Head Coach in Football?
bobobonators replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good post. I think right now you'd have to put coughlin ahead of rex/smith/mccarthy..of course, 10 yrs from now, who knows. Coughlin took the expansion Jaguars to the AFC championship game twice i think, and won the SB w/the Giants and has over 130 wins...imo, he's definitely within top 5 currently -
2nd Best Head Coach in Football?
bobobonators replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
#1- Belichick #2- Reid #3- Tomlin #4- Peyton #5- Coughlin Even if he doesn't win a SB, Reid will have HOF worthy numbers as a head coach when it's all said and done. McCarthy won the super bowl this past year, but I wouldn't just go ahead and put him ahead of Reid. IMHO. -
Exactly. I think that some people tend to view NFL teams as individual/independent entities and that's where they get confused. Company X requiring a prospetive applicant to have a minimum 4 year college degree to be considered for Y employment opportunity is not illegal. A similar logic applies to the NFL and whatever requirements they demand/require for an individual to join their league.

Coahces and FO stance on Fitz
bobobonators replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
dude, you've been railing on Fitz since day one. Just give it up already. You demand consistency from a player that took over in week 3 and gave his 120% and actually put up pretty decent numbers considering the dismal talent on offense around him. Why don't you create 1,679 posts and demand consistency of the other players on the team? Nobody is claiming that Fitz is the answer at QB, but he's certainly not the main problem on this team. understand and embrace that distinction and please just get over it already. Do you not like his beard? Did you get rejected from harvard? do you not like irish people? all of the above? what the heck is your constant gripe about Fitz? god man you complain about fitz as if we wasted a top 5 pick on the guy and he's not living up to your standards...all year with the same garbage from you. -
Coahces and FO stance on Fitz

Correction, Gabbert received little attention as a pro prospect this year because he sucks; no easier way to say it really. I'm sorry. Gabbert is by far the most overhyped player in this year's draft. He has done absolutely nothing in college, and to make matters worse, he's coming off a year that was statistically much worse than his prior season (which was good, but not an exceptional season either). -
1. Panthers/Newton, 2. Broncos/Dareus,
bobobonators replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Geeze man, you've been riding Quinn all day everyday on these boards. If it's Cam #1, and Dareus #2...we would have to go with Fairley, IMO. -
Talked with Charlie Weis Yesterday
bobobonators replied to STLBILLS15's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The chiefs scored 13 points in 5 quarters, at home against the Bills..Weis should talk less b/c he's done absolutely nothing since leaving tom brady & co. in NE. Edwards > Weis in that game. -
Updated Kiper Mock Draft
bobobonators replied to Thirty Year Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
lmfao -
Fairley dropping on some mock drafts is due to there being 3,235,080 football experts with way too much time on their hands between the national championship game and the NFL draft. How can I make my 125th mock draft in the past 30 days more interesting then the last? I know, let me flip-flop my entire top 10 and put fairley at 9..THAT'LL get everyone's attention. Nonsense. Also, anyone notice how Gabbert has risen pretty much out of nowhere to be considered on some boards as the #1 overall pick? Really guys? Blaine "90% of the USA didn't know who the FOOK I was 1yr ago" Gabbert. Granted, the same 90% may not have known who Fairley was this time last year, but at least Fairley won a national championship and dominated. WTF did GABBERT do in the past year other than shampoo and condition his fairy hair? Semantics aside, going back to what you said about Fairley being better suited for the 4-3 is part of the reason why he may be falling, in addition to his weight/size being a bit down at the combine. Also, some of the 3,235,080 NFL scouts in this country question his ability/intelligence to grasp defensive schemes at the next level, and his average use of his hands. Right. Fairley won't draft past 5 come draft day. You can double down on that. Don't look now, but a large majority of this year's potetial top 10 are technically one year wonders...with, of course, the exception of Gabbert, who was a zero year wonder.

here are the results for Maybin: http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=65825&draftyear=2009&genpos=OLB combine: 4.38 shuttle; 7.52 cone pro day: nothing on there; he probably didn't do it again.

lol. ok

good post. so what are your thoughts? Try and trade down and grab an extra 2nd? Or would you go for a Cam Newton/Gabbert/Peterson pick at 3? I like Cam Jordan. But this is what a top 5 pick hits like:
-
I definitely agree.

LOL...Troup was one of the top "true" NT taken in last year's draft. Troup was specifically drafted to play NT in the 3-4, I can't see how anyone can argue otherwise. Whether he's good enough to be a starting NT in the NFL is one thing, but a NT he is. Looking at the players we drafted last year, Troup/Carrington/Moats, all are better suited for the 3-4, but I think that regardless of who we select with the first pick in this year's draft, we'll continue to see a hybrid of the 3-4/4-3 defense next year..I don't have a problem with it and see no reason why we have to have an official defensive base scheme.
-
call me crazy, but I actually wouldn't go nuts if we drafted Peterson. maybe i'm starting to lose it.

03/15/2011 - Alabama Pro day: As I expected, Marcell Dareus and Mark Ingram did not disappoint Wednesday. The two studs from Alabama wowed the approximate 100 personnel folks in attendance at the Crimson Tide's pro day and did nothing to hurt their stock as potential early picks. In fact, you might say they elevated it. As for Dareus, he looked good in his field drills. To me, he's the real deal. He's a power player like Ndamukong Suh was last year. He could have that kind of impact, I think. All 32 teams were present, including John Elway and Brian Xanders of the Broncos, GM Tom Heckert of the Browns, GM Buddy Nix of the Bills, and defensive coordinator Ray Horton of the Cardinals. - Gil Brandt, NFL.com At this point, we'll really be lucky if he's even there at #3.
-
Ragdoll? Have you seen this guy? his reps don't really bother me that much..how much strength does he have in his core/lower body? How well is he positioned to maximize leverage? How does he use his hands? Also, in Alabama, this guy was double teamed every game..that in itself is production EVERY GAME. As for taking plays off, I've seen a lot of elite players in my day take some plays off..though ideally I don't like it, it happens..but at the end of the day i'd rather get a player that gives 100% 90% of the time (if that makes sense) and puts up numbers in that 90% as opposed to a player giving 110% 100% of the time and not doing much b/c they simply lack the talent.
-
You can tell that Clayton has really put in a lot of time analyzing the bills. If we keep drafting for a 3-4 scheme we're going nowhere. LMFAO. Apparently once a franchise has a defensive scheme, that's all she wrote for the rest of eternity! The beauty is that this clown probably gets paid 300K a year for this analysis.

Updated Kiper Mock Draft
bobobonators replied to Thirty Year Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dareus is simply the best way to go, imo. We need more beef/power on the DL, and that's exactly what Dareus brings. Stroud is now gone, and Carrington can start in his place, w/KW in the middle, and Dareus to his right. Carrington - - - KW - - - Dareus Dareus would instantly be our biggest DL. I'd like Quinn a lot if we were drafting at 10 or 12.
