In an ideal world we probably would've been better off keeping Fitz for an extra year or so and having EJ watch from the bench his first season (IMO). EJ never had competition his first season and was essentially given the starting gig. He played OK last season, but he never really had games where you thought "damn, I'm excited for next season b/c this guy has given us flashes of brilliance"; it was more like "EJ was OK but he definitely needs to take a step forward this season". Through 4 games that step forward didn't happen. In fact you can argue that he took a step back. A step back from just OK is bad. Add in the change in ownership and everyone in the front office/coaching staff probably went into a panic b/c their jobs may very well be on the line this season. As for the coaching staff (marrone) not having a backbone, I see where you're coming from. But at the same time, we've been hearing all season that the talent is here, NOW. Not next season, but now. So the change to Orton shouldn't be that much of a surprise. If the organization feels this team has the talent in place to make a run for a wild card, then make the move and forget about EJ's feelings/psyche. It's certainly cliché, but if EJ can't handle being benched, then he probably won't be able to handle the ups/downs of the NFL very long anyway. cliche * was the word I was trying to use, not sure why it did that "cliché"

Any Chance The O-Line Could Gel?
bobobonators replied to Rob's House's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I remember hearing Hairston looked good during OTAs but don't remember much during preseason. I thought hairston was solid when he started 2 years ago. Still young. Still can have upside. -
After 14 starts I feel EJ is not done. So he sits a year or so. It's not the end of the world.

Any Chance The O-Line Could Gel?
bobobonators replied to Rob's House's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, that pic is horrible indeed. Most frustrating from that pic is that Robert Woods is about to get wide open if the Pats player didn't come in completely unblocked that would've probably been a huge pass play. -

Any Chance The O-Line Could Gel?
bobobonators replied to Rob's House's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I feel this O-line would be better with Pears out of the RG slot. I'd like to see Hairston at RG perhaps. It can't be any worse. Pears was OK at RT but I don't know if he's cutting it at RG. Something tells me he's just too tall and can't move well enough for the guard position. I dunno what to do with this O-line. The O-line has definitely regressed this season, but we also have 2 rookies starting on it, so that's expected. Ideally, I'd probably want: Glenn / Hairston / Woods/ Urbik / Pears and just get the rookies out of there. -
Well said.

100% in Redzone with Orton (4-4)

Whats the point in arguing about it. Hes the starting QB of the Bills. DEAL WITH IT. -
Hackett not properly using Spiller & Jackson
bobobonators replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Expecting Spiller to dominate running it up Woods butt much the same way Fred does doesnt address the premise that NH is misusing Spiller. And by misusing i dont mean spiller should never run it up the middle - he should and he NEEDS to do a better job. But when that is the ONLY thing we see spiller doing in this offense it falls on Hackett. Not seeing spiller targeted frequently on screens or put in motion to line up at WR is a waste of a threat. You have an elite talent touch the ball a total of 6 times in a game thats embarrassingly bad. -

100% in Redzone with Orton (4-4)
bobobonators replied to HardyBoy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's a meaningless stat. The offense was better with EJ. Orton is a bum. He throws the ball downfield too much. I don't like his mustache. -
lmao, awesome.
-
I do too. If you look at his career trajectory he's played really well when given the opportunity to start on a weekly basis. The guy had awesome numbers in Denver and the only reason he left was b/c of the Tebow disaster. Then in Dallas he was behind Romo so nobody expected him to start there. His years in Denver were almost exact replicas of Flacco's seasons (stats wise). Yes, that was a few years ago, but it's not like he's crashed and failed since, he was simply backing up a really good QB in Romo.

I had us going 8-8 prior to the season starting and at this point I had us at 2-4 with losses vs. Bears, Chargers, Lions, & Pats. I had us going into bye at 3-5. So if we're able to go into bye at 4-4 or at 5-3 that'd be awesome IMO.

lol. ok. that's right, EJ beat the world by himself. Him and his 19.8 QBR, barely breaking 200yds passing per game.

We're 3-3 not 0-6. I would reserve judgment about screwing the pooch. I don't care if we make the playoffs as a wild card and lose by 40 in the Wild Card game - this franchise needs to get into the playofss in any way shape or fashion. Orton right now gives this team the best chance to do that, thanks to the FO. I personally don't care about next season.

Hackett not properly using Spiller & Jackson
bobobonators replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
NH has had 0 good years. In large part due to Spiller's ineffectiveness? Come on man. -
where do these two clowns expect a DB to target Gronk when Gronk is twice their size? Unreal.

I agree.

Hackett not properly using Spiller & Jackson
bobobonators replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hackett not utilizing Spiller/FJ like the thread states is about Hackett not knowing how to maximize the most out of what he's got at the NFL level: We're 25th in yds/game We're 26th in pts/game We're 22nd in rushing yds/game That's p*ss poor so far. -
Hackett not properly using Spiller & Jackson
bobobonators replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can tell you that what Spiller has achieved in the NFL is a heck of a lot more than what NH has achieved. Why should anyone be giving NH the benefit of the doubt? Did he have a revolutionary offense at Syracuse like Kelly had? No. This guy brings nothing new to the table. So I'm not going to get all over Spiller the way I will over NH. That's my viewpoint. That's all. -
I think we all watched the game man. The strip sack is what it is. That ball is going to be fumbled 9 times out of 10. Not much Orton could've done there except maybe get rid of the ball sooner, but it's not like he was standing in the pocket for 8 seconds either. The INT was the only CLEAR mistake Orton made and that was in the Pats territory and not our side of the field. The defense could've stopped them too.
-
The also converted very punt/kick off we gave to them in the 2nd half into a score. The line should be simple: Bills Defense fails to stop Brady and the Pats.

Big Cat, this isn't just about CJ. It's about the entire offense. CJ is just a symptom of the main problem.
