I'm an Allen Guy since pre-draft, and I can name 12 as of this moment: Mahomes Wilson Brees Brady Rivers Jackson Goff Rodgers Cousins Stafford Ryan Dak Not sure I'd go much past those guys though. That was an interesting exercise because I expected to get to 15 before I really started to question if guys belonged ahead of him. It actually started at 10 or 11.

On the end of the game throw to Knox, in real time I called it a tough throw over 2 defenders. My wife asked why he threw it so far over the receivers head, and my cousin (who's not a Bills' fan) responded that it looked like the QB threw a fastball high to (a) prevent the defender from tipping it and (b) give the TE a chance to pivot and leap for it. Just another perspective on it. Still think he could've lofted it in there IMO.

I would imagine that he'll see time in pass rush only situations. -

Maybe the issue is our definition of "carrying". When you stated that the team was winning with defense, my issue is that you literally can't win without scoring points, and we've definitely seen NFL teams of yore win games with defenses that score reliably. This defense isn't one of those. That's not to say that they aren't great, or that they aren't a huge component of why this is a playoff team. It's only to say that the defense isn't winning games for this team. They're definitely keeping the team in some games when lesser units wouldn't, and that's the way it's supposed to be with defense. You shouldn't have to count on them to win games. Look at last year's Bears team: the defense scored the deciding points in 3 games in 2018. This year they've managed only one score (down from 5 last year), and lo and behold, they've gone from 12-4 to 7-8. Is the defense much worse? Of course not; they're just no longer winning games for that team. -
Should The Bills Bench Alexander?
thebandit27 replied to Dr.Sack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No...but they should use Edmunds in that role at times next year. -
The play at the end of the half was a clear 9 with an outside stem. I think this may have been a 7. Doesn't mean it was a perfect throw, but it does explain why it looked so far off if that's the case. Need to watch the play again to see if the throw would've been on target for a 7. Probably need to see the EZ view to know. EDIT: I just re-watched the play. Looks like the defender redirected Knox slightly which changed his leverage. He was indeed headed for the back pylon, but I believe he wouldn't have had a shot at the ball regardless.

Actually, what happened was you waltzed your way into a discussion between biscuit and I that began when he said that this was a team that still wins with its defense (direct quote), and I pointed out that that's not true. And for some reason, that upset your delicate temperament. Maybe it's the holiday stress? I don't know. Grab an eggnog or a Rumchata hot chocolate and chill. There's no need to let the fact that you still don't understand the point ruin your day. All is well. The Bills are in the playoffs (no thanks to that dreadful offense ?) and we should all be happy. Merry Christmas! -
Whoa. Looking at that still shot, I'm left wondering: was Knox running a 7 route there? Looks like it based off the leverage he's gained on the defender. If so, shouldn't he be headed for the back corner? Wondering because that's where the ball ended up. I had assumed it was a bad throw by Josh, and it probably is, but that photo makes me curious...

Ok man. Whatever you say. The defense is the only reason that the team has won any games. -

Good job springing the trap on yourself. The next most logical step is this: remove all non-offensive TDs from the 2019 Bills, and their record doesn't change. Remove all non-offensive TDs from the 2015 Broncos, and they lose an additional 4 regular season games. Haven't looked at the playoffs, but their first TD in the Super Bowl was defensive as well. -
Ah yes. Incompetent. That's definitely how I'd describe the guy with the highest passer rating among visiting QBs at Gillette this year. He'd have more credibility if he'd dial down the hyperbole. Missed throws are real, and they're going to be a topic of discussion until they become more of a rarity. But good grief, incompetence? That's an utter joke.

No, no they didn't average more offensive points. The team scored 355 points...but, get this: the defense scored 35 and the STs scored 14. So...yeah, they scored pretty much the same as Buffalo has through 15 games. But even at that minutiae, you're missing it. The Denver defense scored the deciding points in 4 games that season. Four games in which the defense scored the game-winning TD. Defense. Winning games. There's a difference. If you don't get it at this stage there isn't much more I can do. -

Ok then, let's simplify it for you...here is a comprehensive list of every game the team would've won without the contributions of the offense: -

Broseph, take a pill and relax. The point should be really easy to understand: when the QB is among the leaders at his position in TDs scored, and the team has a grand total of 1 non-offensive TDs (that coming on an onside kick in a decided contest), you can't exactly claim that the team is "winning with defense". Winning with defense is the Baltimore Ravens in 2000 going 5 games without an offensive TD. Winning with defense is the 2015 Broncos overcoming a 1:2 TD:INT ratio from a broken Peyton Manning. Holding teams to less than 17 points is wonderful. It wins you zero games if the offense doesn't put up more than that. Maybe you see the distinction and maybe you don't, but either way it's very easy to understand. -

Touched a nerve huh? Look, the simple fact is that the team is not winning with defense. There are teams that do; the 2000 Ravens, 2015 Broncos, and 2019 Pats****** come to mind. The QB has scored more TDs than all but a handful of other QBs in the league. That's decidedly NOT winning with defense. And for the record regarding non-Bills fan opinions of Allen: I have close friends that are both NE****** and Miami fans; each is unequivocally and thoroughly sold on Allen as a franchise QB. -

No offense here: name one game that this team won with defense. -
Did either of those teams trade for Donald? Then what does it matter? The point about cap space is this: you can use what you have now to improve BOTH sides of the ball. You're not limited in any way, shape, or form. I also can't believe it's a discussion. Best defensive player in football every year for the last 4 years and there's people that treat it like an either-or scenario with regard to improving the offense. Do. Both.

Edelman admits faking head injury in Bills game

I'm not sure what aspersions you're attempting to cast here. What I will say is that it was handled properly. Obvious penalty was called, and the player was forced to go through the full protocol to be cleared. Bush league? Yes. Anything more than a situation that arose and was properly addressed? No.
