  1. Perhaps I'm the only one that doesn't see this as a big deal Either move to 2 and take your guy, or move to 4 and take whoever is left
  2. If Rudolph is truly his guy, and he believes that he's the only one that values him that highly, then he thinks he's the smartest guy in the room. And that's dumb
  3. When did I say anything even remotely negative about Beane? I'm not assuming anything either. The reality is that assuming anyone that you like will be there at 12 is tantamount to believing yourself to be the smartest person in the room...and that's dumb Right on
  4. You either go to 2 and get your guy, or you go to 4 and take whoever is left of Darnold/Rosen/Mayfield/Allen
  5. You cannot take that chance Cleveland is a lock to go QB at one, ditto for NYJ at 3. Denver is 90% at 5. Do you feel safe that neither NYG or Miami will take your guy, and that none of Arizona, Baltimore, LAC, or Pittsburgh will move ahead of you?
  6. Right on man; this is where the GM men separate themselves from the GM boys. The path to the QB that they want has swung WIDE open for them, if they're willing to do what it takes
  7. Well that's simply untrue. You have guys like Edmunds, Smith, Evans, and LVE that are round 1 talents. Then you've got D Leonard, M Jefferson, and J Baker that are day 2 prospects who could potentially start as rookies. Then there's the day 3 sub package guys, like Jewell, who is very likely a guy that could carve out a role and play for a long time. There's more than a handful of those And you're still missing the point You don't need an elite LB group. You need 3-4 guys that can get it done in a platoon fashion
  8. What??? The team can easily trade up for a QB without giving up all of their day 2 picks. Are you sure you're not putting me on here? ILB might be the deepest position in the 2018 draft
  9. You're missing the point They could very well be planning to draft a starting LB in round 2 for all we know. That's not the point either In the last 2 seasons, the team's best LB were a street FA picked up off the scrap heap (who went to the pro bowl) and a 5th round rookie, respectively. ILB isn't exactly a difficult position to fill these days. Now, if you want a Luke Kuechly, then yes, you need to be prepared to invest premium assets, but that's clearly not their plan at this point. You're looking at Milano, LorAx, a round 2/3 rookie, a vet like Compton, a day 3 rookie, Vallejo, and either Lacey or Stanford as the LBs. You may not like the plan, but that's what it is.
  10. Um, no. Their plan is to draft from a very deep pool of off-ball LBs that fit their scheme There will be players like Fred Warner and Jerome Baker left on day 3 that can come in and play significant snaps in this defense
  11. Right--it's mostly about their curation of data; teams apply their own analysis
  12. The thing is, guys don't just suddenly jump. When it appears that's happening, what's really going on is that the media and draft analysts are merely catching onto guys that scouts/coaches/GMs/personnel men around the league have had high grades on all along. Allen has been on team's radars for well over a year, and any team that's considering drafting him high has had their homework done on him well in advance of the "draft prep season".
  13. This is, by a country mile, your best post on this forum. I'm not saying that you should definitely quit while you're ahead, but...
  14. It would be crazy if all of Matthews, Gaines, and Deonte sign elsewhere and we're back in the comp pick formula
  15. I'll challenge anyone that says that Josh Allen is a guaranteed bust to go back and watch that Iowa game again. That was not a kid that was overmatched; it was a kid that hung in there despite getting his arse kicked and his team failing brutally around him time and again.
  16. It's possible that they're able to do it with some foresight and luck. I could see 2nd-tier UFAs filling spots like slot CB1, CB4, and either RG or RT. I could further see draft picks filling QB1 (obviously), WR2, DT3, and both 'backer spots. You'd then have to feel good about post-June 1st street FAs filling S4, C2, WR5, and RT. Not easy, but possible.
  17. I did. I'm probably higher on him than most folks on this board, because when he looks right, he's obscenely good. I believe he'll be drafted in the top 5 (in fact I'm stuck on him being Cleveland's choice at No. 1 overall--for now ), and although a lot of folks will assume that coaches and GMs got suckered by his arm talent and athleticism, I don't think it's that superficial. I think talent evaluators will see how well he plays when he's "on", and believe that they can extract that from him on a more consistent basis. That he's got unparalleled arm talent and good athleticism will cement that opinion further. For me, he's my QB5 behind the others, but I'd probably think long and serious about taking him in the back half of round 1 if I'm a team that has a veteran starter.
  18. I would sign up for that...but not prior to draft night.
  19. Truth. Kyle is an excellent athlete.
  20. He doesn't really have the numbers, but he wants WR2 money. It'd be easier if he had at least one year of reasonable production a la Paul Richardson, but he's never eclipsed 35 targets or 21 receptions. His efficiency numbers are off-the-charts good though, so there is real upside. https://www.playerprofiler.com/nfl/brice-butler/ He's got a big personality, so he'd have to prove himself a #process guy if he wants to make it here.
  21. Trent Murphy. Yes, I like all the attitude and "process" stuff surrounding him, but mostly I like what it says about how this group is building their team. They understand that they need to be able to get to the QB, and they saw a guy that was undervalued due to injury and suspension and pounced.
  22. Looks like Bradham's deal is, in all practicality, a 1-year $6M pact:
  23. We're officially calling him "Tormund Giantsbane", right? Or are we going with a derivative like "Trent Giantsbane", "Tormund Murphy", or perhaps the even cheekier "Trent Bradysbane"? Or some further derivation thereof? Help.
  24. As the market goes, we really didn't even overpay. Snax set the market for a run-stuffing DT at $9.25M AAV two seasons ago, so $10M AAV represents only a 4% per annum inflation from that number, which is below the typical NFL inflation factor of 8%.
