That was my guess as well. Making room for young guys. -

I'm very surprised given that the Eagles already have Darby, Mills, Sidney Jones, and Rasul Douglas. I wonder if they're going to move one of those guys -

Bills signings & TT trade point to trade up

If I were Indy, I would be absolutely locked onto Chubb at 3. He's my #1 overall player in the draft, and he fits the criteria as playing one of the premium positions. Your point about him filling a huge need is salient, if only icing on the cake IMO. -

Totally possible that Indy would take Barkley at 3 though -

I think we'd probably see Tre play on one side and Sherman on the other; I'm sure there would be times that you'd see match-ups played, but probably most often a strict right vs. left setup -

What if he has Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer? -
Smart signing. I'm surprised that nobody went after him before this--I'm sure that the combination of injuries and suspension kept teams away though
-
Yes, exactly. Assuming Zay can extract himself from the proverbial crapper, they have a slot guy, and I don't hate Andre Holmes as a WR4. You hope that between Streater, Reilly, and Dupre, you have WR5-6 covered. You have to get that boundary guy with speed that can threaten defenses over the top and run inward-breaking routes that will make defenses pay if they choose to only protect themselves deep.

I really thought that you'd hear a LOT more about Cobb being moved this offseason; flipping a 4th for him was actually on the table for me prior to the 2017 trade deadline--you absolutely knew that they were going to keep Adams. I would find it amazing if GB decided to go into the season with $47.7M in cap space dedicated to Nelson/Cobb/Adams. If Cobb were traded, his new team would be on the hook for $9,468,750 against the cap. If Nelson were traded, that number would be $10,218,750. If I contrast that with a guy like Bryant, who barely counts against the cap as it is, it's a no-brainer. The middle-of-the-road option for a trade is Travis Benjamin; he probably takes the least compensation to acquire, and his new team would pay $5.75M against the cap for him.

Sources: Dolphins to release Ndamukong Suh

If Suh were released, I think he'd go right back to Detroit. -

Re comp picks, here's the way I see it right now: The team has, IMO, 13 spots currently available on their final 53-man roster; this is assuming that they keep everyone that is currently under contract (including Marcus Murphy as the RB3). Those spots are QB, WR (2), C, DT (3), LB (2), CB (2), S (2). If you can manage to re-sign Leonard Johnson and one of your two backup safeties (S. Thomas or C. Anderson), and convince Kyle Williams to come back for one more year in a reduced role, then you take yourself down to 10 roster spots out of the final 53 that are needs: QB, WR (2), C, DT (2), LB (2), CB, S. Here's where you need to feel confident in your ability to fill specific needs with draft picks and post-June 1st street FAs. If the team feels confident that they can fill 5 needs in the draft--say, for example: QB in the 1st with a trade-up, DT in the 2nd, LB in the 4th, backup LB in the 5th, and CB4 in the 5th--that would put them in great shape to earn comp picks. All they have to do after that is find a depth WR, backup C, and depth safety in the post-June 1st street FA market. That would allow them to sign 2 starters in UFA and earn a high comp pick when Gaines/Matthews/P. Brown sign elsewhere. If they manage to keep more 2018 draft picks in their trade-up or other UFAs from Buffalo sign CFA deals, then that would bring in additional picks. That's how I see it. -

Easy solution: yank the 5th-year option from RT J. James and you're under the cap by $1.7M. The other option is to give R. Quinn a 1-year extension to push his cap hit down the road a bit. Or just restructure Tannehill to save $11M -

Yeah, 3 is clearly the catbird's seat for Buffalo. I do think, however, that as long as Beane is working the phones leading up to the draft, he'll have the option to beat anyone else's offer. Only Cleveland can compete with Buffalo in terms of ammunition. -

Well, in my scenario, Cleveland's move up to 2 doesn't happen until after the first wave of FA, at which point we should have a pretty good picture of which teams among Cleveland, Denver, NYJ, Minnesota, and Arizona are still in desperation mode at QB. Once Cleveland makes their move, I'm sure Buffalo would be on the phone with Indy figuring out their asking price. I don't see it as any more detrimental to Buffalo's chances of scoring the guy that they want than the current order -

The shoe that will have to drop is Cleveland making their move to 2 before the draft, which I could easily see them doing after the first wave of FA passes. The only reason to hold off on a draft-day move up the board is that you don't know if your guy will be there; that (obviously) isn't the case for Cleveland. If they pull the trigger and move up for pick No. 2, then it'll facilitate Buffalo's move up the board to 4. Oh, and just so folks don't think I'm taking credit for something that I didn't say... -

This is the exact scenario I floated in the Box o' Shout yesterday: Daniel JeremiahVerified account @MoveTheSticks 14h14 hours ago More Interesting scenario -- NYG Trade back 2 spots (CLE comes back up for Barkely/QB) then BUF trades up to 4th pick for QB. CLE gets Barkley/QB, BUF gets their QB and NYG get massive amount of picks in 2018 & 2019. Thoughts?
