  1. yup, thanks. Planning on the egress. Also, the HVAC area is a storage area. I already insulated the rim joists there and put in shelving. I plan on having a double-door leading to that area which is in the 'back' of the basement. Its a pretty new house, 12 years old. Basement is fairly dry. Some gaps in the rim joists let moisture in and I have been fixing that. Never any standing water.... but I do plan on getting a lot of dirt and sloping away from the house a bit... also plan on some sort of backup for the sump.
  2. I do agree on the 'gameplan' aspect. Its really not that much effort. I can see the unit/thermometer from my back door which makes it easier. When I am smoking, I kind of obsess about it anyways, so monitoring/adjusting/etc is fun.
  3. Does anyone have any insight on this? I plan on doing it in a year and will hire someone. I generally know what I want, but would need guidance to hash it out into a final floorplan with all the details. Anyone have any good experiences with anyone in the WNY area? I would really like to do it myself.... but with 2 young kids, there is just no time
  4. its not just the rooms though. Convention space and pretty much no attractions for all the wealth. Are we going to take all the celebrities around in a shuttle and show them the "architecture"? February is normally a special kind of miserable here weather-wise. We cant even get an NHL All Star Game.
  5. Pee Wee's Big Adventure is one of the best/funniest movies ever made. Been looking forward to this.
  6. I started out this fall and got this: Weber Smokey Mountain http://www.amazon.com/Weber-731001-Mountain-22-Inch-Charcoal/dp/B001I8ZTJA/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1455653776&sr=1-1-catcorr&keywords=smoky+mountain It is great and pretty easy, even without gas. I have made a few creations including some ribs for a tailgate and also a 20 pound turkey on New Years Eve. You just have to do some research. A lot of people have what works for them and a lot of information might conflict. Its up to you to find your groove. A key is to start simple with poultry and things that are easier. I seasoned my WSM too as per the comments section there on amazon. The first thing I made was butterflied chicken breasts and I mixed together chopped jalapenos and cream cheese and filled the breasts. Wrapped with bacon and smoked. Very good, first try and easy. Impressed guests. Anyways, smoking is awesome. It opens up a world of what is probably the best tasting food. Really looking forward to the Spring. Gonna do my first brisket.
  7. think silly be silly. If we are going to spend for a billion dollar facility, chasing an event that the governing body will have no interest in putting in Buffalo... which will cost another huge sum for the public to 'sway' the decision... then that is foolish.
  8. can we also put to rest the delusion that the Super Bowl will ever be played in Buffalo?
  9. I just like the character and variability of an outdoor venue. The indoor teams' home games appear to be dark and miscellaneous.
  10. I have driven 10+ hours to attend a baseball game at Wrigley. It was very inconvenient. Some asian man sold me parking for $10 at his nearby townhouse. The experience was unforgettable and I would recommend it to anyone. The stadium was from "another era" as you say. Fenway, same thing. Ralph Wilson Stadium is becoming increasingly awesome in many ways and it doesnt necessarily mean the tailgating (although the Stadium in the neighborhood thing adds to the ambiance). I know people who make or intend to make a trip to a Bills game a "destination" for the experience. Crowd is into it because we dont have a stratified by class stadium and have a bunch of suites in front of the fans. Sight lines are great. Its got the "dump" factor which becomes more charming over the years. It would be awesome if someday I could bring my kid to a game when he is older and show him the exact place I always went to games.... passing it down generations. This is where the comeback happened, the Raiders AFC Championship game, Kelly, Thomas, Reed, fans storming the field winning the AFC East, etc... Many of us played high school championship games there, saw concerts there, Grateful Dead, etc. I dont want to hit the reset button. There is a lot of value in keeping the old place running. IMO the fans are who we are. I dont believe we have a wealthy class waiting to plop their money down as long as there is a new stadium built... The experience would be downgraded for many of the current paying customers with a new stadium and the prices would increase. As long as the team is competitive at the new debt free stadium, they will be able to increase ticket prices. Suites are there and they struggle to fill those up as it is.... why need more, and more expensive ones. Buffalo is not San Francisco, Dallas, Atlanta, or even Minneapolis. I say make effective renovations to preserve RWS. I wouldnt hate it if it didnt take 20 minutes to go to the bathroom, and for food to take forever... but I dont need fantasy football lounges, rotating seats, red zone channel piped into my brain, etc.
  11. I think the Ralph is great. For sports stadiums, the older the better. I'd give a lot to go to sabres games in the aud
  12. Even with the annual haggling, it costs a lot. They still pull some dirty tricks with the tiering. Just to get stupid Nbc sports to watch the sabres it's a big upgrade.... Nhl network, MLB network... I watch very little to no television so it's just a coordinated money syphon between the sports leagues and cable providers. Comcast owns an nhl team, the biggest cable provider, and is the Nhl TV partner. They haveven a vested interest in the antiquated rules and not progressing. All I need is netflix, an MLB app, nhl app, and Disney app. Would subscribe to NCAA football too.
  13. The single team option is not even a choice for me. They are blacked out in WNY because we are in their "market".... which is criminal. I would like to just drop Directv. The only things tying me to it are Cleveland and the Sabres, really. I enjoy College football season too. Thats a HUGE expense to have the ability to watch my 'home' teams legally.
  14. Autographed jerseys, footballs, and new sneakers, plus $75K each and the complainants forget what happened.
  15. Sounds like things are happening behind the scenes.
  16. I would love it if they played in a small generic venue. What they have now is awful in every aspect. The layout is comical it is so bad. Its like you are watching a game from the hubble telescope. If they had a venue similar to any of the other MAC schools, I would probably attend a lot of games. Heck, if they just had bleachers set up around the field in the same zip code, I would go. Akron:
  17. well, it is good this happened right after the Superbowl during Newton-gate and Manziel-gate
  18. I follow them. I don't go to games though. It is due to the venue.
  19. Well, when it looked like the Bills were a threat to move, I thought it would be a possibility if not a probability. Now that they are staying, it seems unlikely.... But a Bulls team on-par with Temple is attainable and I don't see it taking away from the Bills' popularity. They would never become a 'power'. The catch 22 is though I dont think average Buffalo sports fans would support that (Temple-level) anyways, The basketball thing is interesting though. I did see Russ Brandon said they are going to try to get NBA preseason games
  20. yeah, it was really a joke to be honest... The real wall that needs to crumble is the blackout restrictions. If I want to watch the Sabres, I MUST subscribe to a cable/satellite service (and I think DISH doesnt get it?) Also, Im an Indians fan. we for some reason are in their "market". In order to watch the Indians, I need to subscribe to Directv, and add a $12/mo sports package so I can get Sports Time Ohio. Its a racket. In Philly, you can only watch the Phillies, Flyers, and 76ers if you subscribe to Comcast. Once the blackout restrictions are done... then cords will be cut. I would absolutely pay for stand-alone MLB/NHL streaming services if I could get my home teams. I think this is why they were so eager to 'settle'.
  21. Bruce mcnall they spent loads of money and were aggressively raiding the Oilers dynasty including gretzky
  22. yeah, just saw that one. Doesnt look good Can we start pleading the ideal gas law? Preponderance of the evidence?
