  1. If I may, Bill, I'll add some more. We won the time of possession battle, the turnover battle and we have five penalties in two games. Signs of a well-coached team. I read the game thread at TSW and listened to the game...hardly heard or read a peep about Stroud. Just went to ESPN.com and read the game recap, and it sounds as if he was dominant. Most ridiculous post of the day...after we fell behind 13-10, someone posted something the lines of, "We'll be 1-4. Same old crap." Instead, we are 2-0, have averaged 27 points a game and allowed 13 points a game...and we've defeated two quality teams, both of which were in the playoffs last year and are expected to be in the postseason again this year. How can anyone be negative about anything right now? Kudos to McGee, Youboty and Fred Jackson. Superb play and big reasons for our win. Although quiet for much of the day, kudos to Hardy, Schouman and Roscoe for making HUGE plays down the stretch. Glad to see Oakland win decisively on the road today, even if it was the Chiefs. A ton of running yards for the Raiders today. That ought to get our attention and keep us focused.
  2. Just a quick thank you to everyone. My wife and I had a good time seeing/meeting everyone at the tailgate. And who cares about the weather when the Bills play like that...Definitely a great day for us.
  3. No, no, no. Jack Tarrance is the guy who killed Scatman Crothers at the Overlook Hotel.
  4. I guess 309 is designated for Bills fans in Indy. We are in row 20, seats 29 and 30.
  5. My wife and I will be there...first game since 2003 (a Travis-led whippin' of the Jets.)
  6. You are on the money, JR. I moved here in 2001 and Manning and Harrison were here already. Granted, many other key components were not, and thus the Colts were just an OK team. It was easy to get tickets. In fact, the first game I attended was Colts-49ers...the infamous Jim Mora/PLAYOFFS? postgame breakdown. Meanwhile, the Pacers were very competitive, and most games (if not all) were sold out. At the same time, Indiana U. was in the 2002 Final Four and enthusiasm was very high, despite the Bob Knight firing fresh in everyone's minds. Then came the brawl in Detroit, followed by numerous off-court incidents involving the Pacers. With that, came a lot of bad press and ultimately a less competitive team. At the same time, the Colts hit their stride, and were arguably the second-best team in the NFL (behind you know who) for a few years. Then the Colts finally cleared that hurdle and won the Super Bowl. Now they have a new stadium, sell outs for every game and a long waiting list for season tickets. And the Pacers were last in the NBA in attendance this past season. I agree that once the Colts fall off, it will be hard to fill the stadium. It will be blackout city for Colts fans in Indy. And if/when the Pacers and IU basketball turn it back around, people around here will go back to their true love, which is basketball. It should be noted that high school basketball around here has been phenominal in recent years, and attendance and enthusiasm reflect that. Greg Oden, Mike Conley, Courtney Lee, Josh McRoberts, Eric Gordon and so on all played at local high schools. This city is Colts crazy right now but it's only because they're winning. They're good fans (and friendly and pretty knowledgeable), but nothing compared to the fans from cities mentioned elsewhere in this thread when it comes to loyalty. And I think we will see that in a few years when they get off this cycle of greatness they are currently riding.
  7. What Lucas Oil Stadium means to the citizens of Indianapolis and generally the entire state... 1. The Colts are guaranteed to stay in Indy. 2. The city/stadium hosts the Super Bowl, which is a tremendous economic boom. 3. The city/stadium will never go more than five years without hosting either the NCAA convention, the Men's Final Four, or the Women's Final Four...more tremendous economic impact. 4. The old RCA Dome, which is connected to the city's convention center, gets converted to additional convention space, which draws larger conventions. Yeah, we paid the bill, and I understand the argument against it, but IMHO this is a good investment for the city and its citizens. I went to the game last night. It truly is an amazing venue. And while I hope the Colts continue to have success as long as it doesn't hurt Buffalo's chances at success, it sure was nice to witness the Bills getting a W in the first-ever NFL game at the Luke.
  8. Hey Pooj...here's an update. 'Melo was actually 13 of 13 from the foul line. 3 of 14 from the field, with two of the baskets being three-pointers. So there's his 21 points.
  9. Not sure that is completely accurate, but it's in the ballpark. He has attempted quite a few free throws and, I believe, he has knocked them all down. I'd say he may be 8-8 on foul shots. I have the game on at my desk, but the TV is to my back so it's not as though I have my eyes glued to the set. Looking at the box score, it says we were 32 of 68 overall from the floor, with 101 points. I doesn't say how many made three-pointers we made, or what we were from the foul line, but we would have had to make quite a few 3s and FTs to make up the 37 points. Point being, I don't know how accurate those stats are. Like I said, they are reasonably close.
  10. That pick turned out to be Fred Taylor, if I'm not mistaken.
  11. Oh, please. The guy signed with an agent. He knew exactly what those consequences were when he signed, which he wasn't forced to do and didn't have to do. And when he did it, he terminated his status as an amateur. End of story.
  12. Some good ones listed so far. I just remembered the game with no punts. '92, I believe. We won at San Fran 34-31.
  13. Just read the thread about the most disappointing losses, and wanted to start some positive vibes...so what what wins stand out to you as the greatest in team history? Obvious answers are the various playoff games, so what about the regular season? I'll start it by listing three. 1. Bills 14, Cowboys 3, 1984. Wow...were we terrible that year. But for one week, I felt on top of the world. 2. Bills 26, Dolphins 20, 1992. We were thrashed in Miami earlier that year, and were down 14-3 (I think) early in this one. And the MNF crew on ABC wouldn't shut up about Marino. So to come back and win was pretty nice. Nothing in comparison to a comeback we had later on in the playoffs, but nice nonetheless. 3. Bills 27, Dolphins 24, 1989. Kelly runs it in from the 2 as time expires. What a way to open the season, in Miami no less.
  14. I have a football signed by Kelly, Thurman, Bruce, Andre and Tasker.
  15. When Hootie first broke on the scene, I won two tickets and took the wife to their concert. I was pleasantly surprised. They did some outstanding covers. Over the course of the next several months, their songs were all overplayed and everyone grew tired of them. But I've always cut them a break because of that live show. I'm headed to Counting Crows/Maroon 5/Augustana in August. I love Counting Crows and go see them every chance I get. I actually saw Maroon 5 at a free show at the Final Four in Atlanta. They were better than average.
  16. Delirous and Raw were very funny. But I guess those don't count. Trading Places was the best, IMO. Coming to America second, Beverly Hills Cop takes the bronze. Harlem Knights and 48 Hours were decent. Other movies had very scenes....Nutty Prof, Bev Hills II, even Best Defense, The Golden Child, Bowfinger had their moments, if few and far between. You could argue he was at his best when he was on SNL.
  17. Not sure if you're interested in this route, but if you want a career in athletics and you have plans to get your Master's, you might try to get a graduate assistant position in a sports information office at whatever college or university you plan on attending. You could get tuition paid for, perhaps. This time of year, there are usually GA spots open at many schools. I believe they are listed at www.cosida.com. (CoSIDA stands for College Sports Information Directors of America, by the way.) It's probably not a path to Brian Cashman's job, but it isn't the assistant to the travelling secretary either.
  18. For baseball, current Rays pitcher Grant Balfour. For football, Webster Slaughter, D'Brickashaw Ferguson, He Hate Me and Lirpa Sloof
  19. You're right...they aren't going anywhere. Hopefully they continue to be a bit greedy with their money. That will help a little.
  20. And as someone who lives in this community, I can say it's not just Peyton. It's Coach Dungy, Harrison, Freeney, Clark, Saturday, June and dozens of others. Lots of classy people in the Indy organization. I can't wait for the Bills to return to this stage. But I'll enjoy this too.
  21. This thread was hilarious...after the fact of course. As a fan of the Colts (even if they take a back seat to the Bills), I gotta say, this is pretty exciting. It's not as exciting as when the Bills made it to their four Super Bowls, but there is something cool about living in a city whose team is going to the Super Bowl. I was down south when the Bills made their run. What a great game tonight, and a beautiful result. Go Colts.
