  1. JP has had his confidence shattered by this coaching staff and it will take quite awhile for him to recover completely. Until the coaches change or they get replaced the Bills will continue to screw their QB's into the ground...
  2. I'm having a difficult time believing that the Bills can really be this bad. I watched the Baltimore Ravens play the Redskins and dream if only we had gotten Cam Cameron..... With that unbalanced O line with 3 offensive tackles and a real Full back lead blocking for a Jerome Bettis clone in Laron McClain. The Ravens drive down the field taking 8 min, 12 plays 11 runs, and on 2nd and 5 a play action pass for a TD. This years Ravens look exactly like the Steeler Super Bowl team that had Big Ben in his rookie year.
  3. Ralph Wilson would buy one... So don't expect anything better then DJ coming into Buffalo anytime soon
  4. The actual NFL isn't thinking about moving the Buffalo Bills to Canada any time soon. However they are now contemplating other teams besides the Buffalo Bills playing games up in Canada.I can understand why Ralph Wilson would want to play some games in Canada ...so his franchise continues to show a profit, which will allow him to keep the Bills in Buffalo. I'm not depressed because of the Bills playing a game in Canada, I am thoroughly depressed that JP Losman is starting It and the fact that the Bills will yet again fail to mount an effective ground attack so playing in a dome might actually help them with the constant shotgun formations and passing. After watching that 49er game I have lost complete and total faith in JP to lead a successful passing attack. My only glimmer of hope remains in the thought that maybe JP will get knocked out of the game and Hamden will play.
  5. And yet another possibility, Confidence! The confidence in your blockers that they won't get you killed because they fail to pick up a blitzer and he won't get completely jacked up like he did in Arizona. Once a QB starts hearing phantom footsteps and seeing phantom rushers the opposing defense has already won. The confidence in his receivers so that when he releases his pass and the wide out hasn't made his cut yet he knows that the receiver will turn the proper direction to catch his pass and it won't be intercepted.Your receivers run the wrong routes or drop passes the QB loses confidence that he can safely throw to a spot instead of waiting for a receiver to break open. I don't have much faith in JP Losman anymore after the pathetic display of complete lack of confidence he had in that 49er game. With 1:47 left to play and 81 yards to go he over threw two passes to the line of scrimmage and took a sack instead of throwing it away. He last throw on 4th down was a completion to Lynch at the line of scrimmage where he was tackled immediately. He...didn't... even ...try ...to wing one downfield!
  6. Bledsoe had a cannon for an arm when he left Buffalo and could still probably throw it farther then most current NFL QB's even today. He wasn't over the hill, what he was,was completely immobile. The opponent knew if they blitzed him and got in his face they would get him to start seeing the rushers instead of his receivers. So what do the Bills do?They focus on Bledsoe to work on getting rid of the ball in a more timely manner, usually withing 3-4 seconds max.It worked for awhile abut then the opponent would rush harder, faster, hit him a few times and again with him seeing the rushers instead of his receivers. If anything the Bills are constantly suffering the Drew Bledsoe syndrome with each QB they bring in,getting hurried harried and hit until they start watching the pass rush instead of whats going on down field. The Bills still have not addressed the real problem and change the passing plays and schemes. Look at the Arizona game, the Cardinals have Kurt Warner an older veteran QB who managed to get the ball out within 3-4 seconds and the Bills were never able to stop him. Those short quick timing routes killed the Bills all game long. You would think that the Bills would notice what Warner managed to do against them and copy it.
  7. Talent?Look at the San Diego Chargers, they went 14-2 with a QB playing his first year and sent more players to the pro bowl then any other AFC team including the Patriots and Colts. Then they fire the head coach because he didn't see eye to eye with the GM and hire Norv Turner. Now what is the difference there between those two coaches,Talent? Look at the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2005,they go to the super bowl with a rookie QB. How did they manage to do that? Because they had a powerful focused running attack that allowed Ben Roethlisberger to throw sparingly 15-20 times a game and not 30-40. Listen to what Lee Evans has stated earlier this year,he didn't throw anyone under the bus but he did state that when they call a fly-go-deep route with him as the main target they often have nobody crossing underneath so the opponent can roll the coverage towards him and double him, triple him. The way Evans phrased it the bills don't even try to send someone across the middle,Talent or scheme ? You know something is drastically wrong with the offense when you have two players speak out in public and state that the Bills should have run the ball more against the 49ers,Lee Evans and Jason Peters. The Bills passing game is easily defended because its screwed from the start, formations, routes. The Bills have called more shotgun formations this year then I think I've ever seen any team call ever. The Bills had RARELY used play action all season until week 10 and the Cleveland game. You state its the talent, I think its the coaching and schemes.
  8. What is the million dollar question concerning quarterbacks...Why do the Bills QB's keep failing? The Bills obtained Drew Bledsoe and he won a bunch of games and Bills fans were in love for awhile. The Bills drafted a rookie in the first round to replace Bledsoe ,JP Losman showed some early promise and fans were in love again. The Bills draft a QB in the 3rd round and bench JP, Trent Edwards shows promise and fans are in love for awhile again. Trent Edwards will also fail because the Bills will set him up to fail. Let me ask...why is it that when the bills try and run the ball and gain no yardage do they stop trying to run and start throwing and then when the throwing doesn't work either everyone blames the QB... There must be something wrong with the QB here, He can't win games for us we need a new QB...AGAIN! Trent Edwards isn't broken like the others....yet! He will be though and it will be because of the coaching. This current coaching staff's catastrophic failure to build a focused rushing attack.Even when the Bills have a running back that is literally killing the opponent they STOP utilizing him and force the back up QB to throw it up,or TRY*to throw it up like they did in the 4th QTR against the 49ers. Even in the past with Drew Bledsoe the Bills would always get behind by as little as 3 points and stop running and go pass crazy. What The Buffalo Bill Franchise has lacked for years and years is a Offensive running minded coordinator. The last one the Bills had was Ted Marchibroda. Its one big reason as to why Kevin Gilbride and Mike Mularky are offensive geniuses now, they focus on setting up the pass with the run. A focused powerful rushing attack that they make work! The Bills focus on setting up the pass with the pass and if that fails ...blame the QB
  9. This was positively hilarious It was the perfect rendition of JP in that 49re game, 1:47 to go and 81 yards.... This is most every QB's dream to be able to make a final drive to win the game. Instead, it was JP's nightmare as he overthrew the first pass to the back, then sacked on the 2nd play, then over threw Josh Reed ...and on 4th down he finally hit Lynch at the line of scrimmage when he needed at least 10 yards for a single first down. Whats especially mind numbing is the fact that the 49ers only brought 4 rushers that entire series, they dropped the linebackers into coverage and dropped the safeties deep each play leaving single coverage... Compete and utter travesty,a QB with no confidence... He didn't even try to wing one down field.no guts no glory...sad really. Look for more of the same Sunday if the Bills refuse to focus on mounting an effective running game.
  10. What most of you don't realize is that the Bills screwed up JP and his development by forcing him to win games with a very weak running attack, almost always in third and long. He did that in 06 and he actually got better at it. The problem started in 07 when he was looking over his should a lot and frankly the coaches lost confidence in him and started Trent Edwards. Still with a very weak running attack that kept them in 3rd and long way to often. Its this SAME problem that is hindering Trent Edwards progress. This current coaching staff's catastrophic failure to build a focused rushing attack.Even when the Bills have a running back that is literally killing the opponent they STOP utilizing him and force the back up QB to throw it up,or TRY*to throw it up * Losman's last drive against the 49ers, 80 yards to go and he throws 3 passes to the back in the flat,2 of the 3 were over thrown and one sack.... Lynch was killing the 49ers all game so when they needed him most in the 4th qtr they didn't use him but one time, makes no logical sense. As long as this staff continues to force any QB to win games by themselves the team will continue to lose games.
  11. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and then....But! This is the AFC East. The Jets have the best QB to ever play football in Farve The Patriots have the best current 3x super bowl winning QB in Brady The Dolphins have 2 time super bowl winning president in Parcels And The Bills have Turk "the Shotgun" Schonert and Dick Jauron
  12. As Bills head for Toronto, can Canada work as an NFL home? By Erik Brady, USA TODAY BUFFALO — Buffalo Bills owner Ralph C. Wilson Jr., 90, has a chest virus. He has been coughing for two weeks. "The doctor tells me stay out of the cold," he says. Sunday brings just what the doctor ordered: Wilson's Bills, accustomed to playing in bitter cold this time of year, will play a home game indoors for the first time in their history — though they won't really be home, or even in the USA. This scares me more the Turk "shotgun" Schonert play calls for the bills
  13. From USA Today: CURRENT BILLS ARE FLAILING Ralph C. Wilson Jr. is the only owner the Buffalo Bills have ever had. And he thinks last week's 10-3 loss to the San Francisco 49ers was the bottom of the barrel. "That was the worst performance I've seen from us in 49 years," he says. "People probably don't like me to say that, but the truth is the truth." That kind of talk can't bode well for coach Dick Jauro, whose team, at 6-6, has lost five of the last six and has fallen into last place in the AFC East. "Oh, I don't know," Wilson says. "I haven't even thought about that." The Bills will play the Miami Dolphins in Toronto on Sunday. Does Wilson have a message for the fans in Buffalo as the Toronto game approaches? "Forget last Sunday," he says. "We'll do better for you." And for the fans in Toronto? "I hope you didn't see last Sunday."
  14. And it took him until week 10 to start calling some play action passes
  15. I've been waiting most of the year for him to magically change his play calling. Then he reverts to the constant shotguns and throwing. The Bills RARELY used the play action pass until the Cleveland game week 10. I call Turk Schonert 'shotgun" because that's basically what he constantly calls. The Bills were successful against some weaker teams early in the year. Bills wins= Seattle 2-10-St Louis 2-10,Oakland 3-10, Kansas city 2-10,Jacksonville 4-8,San Diego 5-8. all losing teams.Edwards outstanding play was the result of most of those wins, not the play calling. The Bills get behind in any game by more then 3 points and the game plan goes out the window and its constant passing plays. The Bills current QB's have shown that can't cannot function in Turks offensive game plan when he calls constant shotguns and passes. Look at my past posts,I've been saying that Schonert has been pass happy all year, while you think something is gonna change next game. I'm already convinced you can't change a leopards spots. He will always screw the bills with inane passing plays. Its the start of the fourth qtr and Marsharn has been tearing the the 49ers a new one all game so what do the Bills do? they run him ONCE in the 4th qtr. Oh yeah things will change next game uh huh...sure.
  16. What most fans fail to realize is this organization is hamstrung greatly by its owner. Ralph Wilson, his problem is that he is constrained by the fact that his team is in Buffalo and not a larger, wealthier city. Wilson wants the team to actually make a profit ...thus he will never ever bring in a guy like Bill Cowher or anyone else who would cause the team to initially lose money. What Ralph Wilson fails to realize is... first, you can't take it with you. Second, its what Bill Polian kept trying to make Wilson understand. If you put quality on the field, sidelines and office that people will flock to see you and ultimately people will pay whatever you want to charge to see a great team.
  17. Good point! Do we know if Jauron's hands were tied in bringing in an expensive Offensive Coordinator like Cam Cameron, who has a rookie QB looking like a god in Baltimore.Because the Bills front office refused to pay anyone more then Jauron makes ? Or...is it more that ole dickie boy didn't want to hire the Bills next head coach. Meaning if he had hired a great offensive coordinator could he trust him to do his job the best he can ? Or... would a great offensive mind really want a job in Buffalo working for Jauron and Ralph Wilson?
  18. He is a nice guy and is giving Turk "shotgun" Schonert his shot at becoming an offensive coordinator. He also promoted a new Offensive line coach to replace Jim McNally who was instrumental in tutoring Jason Peters from a FA tight end into a premiere left tackle. Its my take that Marv Levy most likely hired Fairchild or helped Jauron find a thought to be quality experienced OC. Which at the time Fairchild was because he did work under Mike Martz at St Loius. So this season Jauron managed to replace seasoned assistants with 2 rookies and he will lose his job for it.
  19. The Bills were to...Run the Ball down the Dolphins throats with Marshawn getting 25+ carries and Jackson getting 15 touches... They don't let Losman throw until the ground game is working and only then will he be allowed to throw using play action passes. Lynch finises the game with 145 yards rushing and 55 yards receiving,Jackson has 15 rushes for 111 and 20 yards receiving. Losman finishes the game 12/18 175 1 TD no ints The Bills Defense gets 2 sacks,2 turnovers and special teams returns one for a TD The Bills win 31-14 Q,Would you guys forgive and forget how the Bills lost the last few games and have your confidence restored in Jauron and this team ?
  20. Jauron's real failure is that he hired Turk "shotgun" Schonert instead of an accomplished offensive coordinator! Mike Mularky, Kevin Gilbride, Dan Henning...hell even Steve Fairchild... all would have run Marshawn Lynch more against the 49ers.Instead he has a rookie OC who just wants to air the ball out irregardless of the score. The Bills act like they are down by 20 pts each time they fall behind 3 pts or more,THAT IS RETARDED! Jauron fails to get his rookie OC to calm down and run the ball,he fails to have any control over the play calling...HE FAILS!
  21. I agree, this last game was enough for me. Watching a backup QB trying to throw it all 4th qtr against the 49ers when Lynch was owning them made me snap. I actually used to like Jauron and supported him before this game. Clearly he lets Turk "shotgun" Schonert call all the offensive plays and I'm fed up watching Bills QB continue to fail when they don't even try to run the ball.
  22. http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d8...mp;confirm=true FROM NFL.COM In final year of contract, Jauron's tenure uncertain with Bills Associated Press ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Bills coach Dick Jauron isn't showing any signs of flinching for someone who suddenly finds himself on the hot seat. With his familiar even-keel delivery, Jauron on Wednesday acknowledged the angry boos he heard from Bills fans following the team's latest loss last weekend. In accepting the criticism directed his way, Jauron made it clear the buck for Buffalo's ongoing meltdown stops with him. Rick Stewart / Getty Images Dick Jauron, in the final year of his contract, is 20-24 as coach of the Bills. "It's part of the deal when you don't win," Jauron said. "You know when you don't win that there's going to be criticism and it's going to be deserved. So you go on. You try to improve and you try to do the things that'll make everyone happy: And that's win football games." Jauron then blamed himself as the Bills (6-6) prepare to host Miami (7-5) at Toronto on Sunday. "I'm where it stops. I'm the guy," he said. "The things that go wrong, I've got to get them corrected." Time, though, is running out for a team that's lost five of six and in jeopardy of missing the playoffs for a ninth straight season. And time might also be running out on Jauron, who in February raised the bar of expectations by saying the Bills needed to take the next step following consecutive 7-9 finishes. For someone who appeared secure in keeping his job following a 5-1 start, Jauron's tenure is suddenly uncertain as he completes the final year of his contract. Jauron won't comment on his status, except to say, "I always feel like I'm playing for my job." And the Bills have yet to announce anything publicly -- or discuss Jauron's status privately -- about the coach's future. In October, Bills owner Ralph Wilson bluntly waved off questions by saying he doesn't talk contracts when asked about Jauron. And that was well before the season turned sour. The slide began with a 25-16 defeat at Miami on Oct. 26, the first of three consecutive losses to AFC East rivals that dropped the Bills from worst to first in the division standings. Following a 29-27 loss to Cleveland, the Bills rebounded with an emphatic 54-31 win at Kansas City. But Buffalo failed to build off that with an offensively inept performance in a 10-3 loss at home to San Francisco last weekend. Jauron and his team were booed off the field and pelted by debris as they made their way up the tunnel. "It's never a good feeling at all," Jauron said. "Obviously, you want to win for everybody, the fans are included in that. And when you don't, it's very disappointing." Jauron and his staff have opened themselves to criticism. The offense has been slow to adjust to opposing defenses such as in the loss to Cleveland, when Buffalo didn't switch to the run until after Trent Edwards threw three interceptions in the first quarter. Time management has also been an issue, with the team squandering timeouts to avoid delay-of-game penalties and when failing to have players lined up properly. In Jauron's defense, injuries have been a factor. The Bills have three regulars on injured reserve, while Aaron Schobel, their top pass rusher, has missed seven games with a foot injury. Their starting defensive backfield has been depleted, with safety Donte Whitner and cornerbacks Terrence McGee and Jabari Greer all missing games due to injuries. The Bills' offensive struggles can be chalked up to the growing pains that come with developing a second-year quarterback in Trent Edwards, who has been wildly inconsistent this season. Though Lee Evans has questioned the offensive play-calling at times this season, the receiver defended Jauron. "I don't think that it's valid," Evans said. "We respect him. We can communicate with him and we love him as a coach. I guess criticism comes all the time. But it's nothing taken serious here." Jauron also has Whitner's support. "He's done a great job around here. He's changed the culture around here from a losing attitude to guys believing that they can win," Whitner said. "It's up to us to get it done. I don't feel like he should take any criticism at all." Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press
