here are my takeaways after reading through the ESPN & Boston Globe pieces: 1) everyone should read Dan O'Shaughnessy's Boston Globe piece on Ernie Adams; it has a netherworldly aura which indicts the uber secret inner workings of the Pats; 2) It reinforces my utter belief that the NFL is about the almighty dollar and winning at all costs; how anyone can confidently make money on NFL betting is beyond me 3) behind the sanctimonious front offered by Bob Kraft, I seriously question his ethics/integrity by having Belichick as his coach. 4) since Goodell was emasculated by the judge's ruling in nullifying Brady's suspension, the only way to properly move forward with further action on the Patriots is through Congressional oversight. I believe no one currently is taking that position since Arlen Spector's involvement before he died. 5) I wonder what in the hell the other owners are thinking, and if one or more of them are even considering taking action.

The final 53 is still very much in flux...more moves will be made either by trade or waiver wire pickups; that's why the Bills got down to 51 today - to give themselves the flexibility to add depth. I'd agree that OL after the starting 5 is an area of big concern. I have faith Rex & Doug are all over it, and Doug is working the phones.

What I feel most encouraged by is that the BB brass decided against going the safe route w/ business as usual; that is to say, we all knew what we had with Meh Cassel, and the coaching staff knew there would be a fan revolt if we had another Captain Checkdown, "game manager". It also means we are not content to go with that tired approach of all defense, ground & pound, blah blah blah. Too much talent here to squander with Cassel.

Having said this, since this Board is running amok with rogue stories (starting with Whaley's cutting of FedEx), it looks foolish to start a post by using the word "rouge"....right up there with "Bill's", could of, should of, etc. etc. As I've said before, it makes one look less than credible/convincing.
