  1. Changing them is orders of magnitude more pernicious and underhanded. Happens constantly with little fanfare, the Dahl books just happen to be published in mass market constantly, which makes people notice when changes occur. English teachers needing new copies find that their students the next year have different notes. That sort of thing.
  2. The short haired ugly librarians that encourage you to read “banned books” such as To Kill a Mockingbird and The Handmaid’s Tale every year likely fully endorse this:
  3. Deadly force is justified if someone goes for your gun. If you’re going to discharge your firearm, you aim for center mass as it’s the most effective way of stopping the threat.
  4. I’m not sure what you mean
  5. The only controversial bit for me is how long she waited to delete him. Additionally she’s under no obligation to give him medical attention or do anything except make sure he doesn’t try doing dumb ***** again unless she is 100% damn sure that the threat has ended.
  6. Having your views objectively confirmed as 100% correct in real time is a nice feeling that happens to me almost every day. Y’all should try it some time.
  7. Guess DeSantis is over the target. Bombs away!
  8. Lots of dumb folks everywhere. But functionally speaking there are very few books celebrated as “banned books” that are actually banned. Many of them are required reading. “Of Mice and Men” an example from my own education. Whatever librarians might want to say, there are plenty of legitimate reasons to remove various books from grade school libraries, and a removal doesn’t make it “banned.” Stupid terminology. Now what happened to Ross Koen? That was an actual book ban.
  9. You can call them bans all you want but repeating it over and over again will not make it true.
  10. Here’s to another early playoff exit!
  11. If you can find it still printing and at amazon, it’s not banned. And regarding the original topic, this is another example of the woke being more correct than the mainstream.
  12. Since I combined his navy service with "Rhodes scholarship" and "McKinsey" do you think I was referring to some kind of combat expertise?
  13. It has like 15 different narrators.
  14. I don't know what prompted it to be honest. The rule was any book checked out of the school library or borrowed from a classroom was fine. Any outside book needed teacher approval for some kind of schoolwork. Obviously only the english teachers ever signed off on them. I used one outside book for an english paper during American lit (11th grade). As I Lay Dying. And that was it for my "outside" books. I just read them at home and shot the ***** with my friends during study hall.
  15. I think now is a good time to remind everyone that mayor Pete is a spook whose pedigree includes a Rhodes scholarship, naval intelligence, and McKinsey. Think of that before attributing his actions to stupidity. Rare case where Hanlon’s razor likely does not apply.
  16. We couldn't bring outside books into school either unless it had been approved by an English teacher for schoolwork. I guess the theory was that we had enough work that we shouldn't have downtime in study hall or whatever. Or fascism. Idk
  17. I got 17* inches for ya right here *it identifies as 17 inches
  18. It's really not an issue when it thaws that quickly so long as you're putting it to heat shortly after. If you're fussy about it you should disinfect your sink afterward but odds are it'll be fine regardless.
  19. That's gonna depend on the prison they send him to. There are a few facilities capable of 24/7 segregation. Of course, even in those facilities, some of it depends on the mettle and morality of the guards...
  20. lol, tell S we wish her the best! And if she needs to learn to cook she can call me since you're clearly no help in that department.
  21. Don't get food poisoning. My buddy Jim is gigging for Royal right now.
