  1. “Um, sorry chuds, but preventing rapes and murders by satanic gangs that rule your country in the stead of a real government is like, really undemocratic.” To paraphrase Chigurh, if democracy brought you to weekly extortion payments to MS-13 as your only avenue to avoid brutal violence, of what use was democracy?
  2. Remember when rolling stone was relevant? Yeah I wasn’t born yet either.
  3. I mean as much as I think everyone deserves a modicum of decency from everyone else simply because they are human, let's not pretend that there isn't some calculations that go into how much decency some people get vs. others based on how dangerous they look lol basic survival stuff right here
  4. When I was born, they looked at me and said "What a good boy, what a smart boy, what a strong boy" And when you were born, they looked at you and said "What a good girl, what a smart girl, what a pretty girl" We got these chains hanging around our necks People want to strangle us with them Before we take our first breath Afraid of change, afraid of staying the same When temptation calls We just look away @Gugny
  5. In defense of the Barenaked Ladies:
  6. Haven't you always wanted a monkey?
  7. Well I'm glad we took the short route to that.
  8. It says exactly what it says. They're electoral maps. Top left is essentially "what if all the white voters just didn't vote?"
  9. Kids look to be fed and clothed. What's the issue here, exactly?
  10. Black people vote as a single bloc and have for decades. Below is the 2020 election results for certain demographics, after four years of pandering by a republican president.
  11. No. The correct answer is silence. Or if he really wanted to rile people up, stating that Florida does not allow political persecution of its subjects and he will order every law enforcement agency in Florida to refuse extradition if a warrant is served. He’s letting himself be managed too much. He gives off the smell of a guy who tries desperately to play both sides via the thoughts of campaign consultants. Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio can teach him how to lose primaries that way if he’s so interested.
  12. Maybe the best album of 2014
  13. Same here with Apple Music, similar setup. Eventually they make a "radio station" based off of your listening habits and they'll surprise you with stuff you've never heard but are reasonably close in content and genre to your most played music. Then there's "radio stations" for "*insert top played band here* and Similar Artists." So on and so on. As much as I enjoy vinyl, it beats the hell out of digging through milk crates and guessing.
  14. Rise Against is pretty tired. Against Me I haven't actually heard anything that they've made since the sex change lol
  15. I've repeated it in these fora until I'm blue in the face but there was good rock music being made as the 2000s rolled on into the 2010s and still is now. There's just precious little available radio time for rock as compared to the 90s and even the early 00s, so you have to look for it. The Gaslight Anthem, Against Me!, The Menzingers, The 1975, The Killers, Red City Radio, Muse, The Ruse, Foo Fighters, The White Stripes, The Strokes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Spoon...then there's harder stuff and more emo stuff that objectively is good music but isn't everyone's taste. Examples include Good Charlotte, Bad Omens, Godsmack, I Prevail, August Burns Red, A Perfect Circle, Chevelle, The Amity Affliction, A Day to Remember, etc... The lists can run for a while. Hard to do a Mt. Rushmore style top four so soon after or during an era of music though.
  16. I'm a cynic, I told you, I fear what I don't believe I don't know what this is, but this is a different beast I check the lock on the door three times Can't put my faith in what I can't describe I'm a cynic, I told you, I don't believe Can you save me? Oh, clean eyes Breaking my heart in all the right ways And no, I don't mind, clean eyes
  17. French cuisine started to move away from aromatics/dried ingredients in the 1600s as fresh, whole ingredients (whole garlic, onion, etc.) became more of a status symbol. The trouble with "wypipo dun seezun dey chickuns" is that the only things they recognize as "seasoning" are plastic jars in the spice aisle with "Lawry's" or "McCormick" printed on the label.

  22. Me and my girl, we got this relationship I love her so bad, but she treats me like sh… On lockdown, like a penitentiary She spreads her lovin' all over and when she gets home, there's none left for me
  23. You sit there in your heartache Waiting on some beautiful boy to To save you from your old ways You play forgiveness Watch it now, here he comes He doesn't look a thing like Jesus But he talks like a gentleman Like you imagined when you were young
  24. By now, you must've found better than me I'm sure Jupiter and Orpheus have charmed you off your feet By now, I'm sure you've gotten over me While you're kissing clouds and gods I'll be crawling on my knees, Sweet morphine
  25. The problem with the lay understanding of stuff like this is that it can be extended to pretty much anything and is taken to an everyday physical reality rather than a mostly theoretical metaphysical one. Does color exist without an observer? That's the basic question. "Color" is, for the most part, simply the result of certain wavelengths of visible light being absorbed and reflected. But the term "visible light" itself actually implies that in order for it to be categorized as such it must be observed. So is that imprecise language or a reflection of reality? If it can't exist without being observed, then there's questions about every discovery made in space, to include our neighboring planets. Did Mars pop into existence the moment the first human saw a dim red star in the evening sky? The question answers itself.
