  1. No, I don't trust him. I've always thought he's been up to no good and I want him out of the neighborhood.
  2. Sorry to hear about your son's injury...I hope he recovers quickly and that this doesn't lead to long term knee troubles. Let me advise you as somebody who is only a couple of years older than your son. At this age, he's probably looking for a direction and his hobby (football) is his passion. Based on this post and a couple of earlier ones, it sounds like he's very good but not the type of transcendent talent that could play professionally one day. Therefore, he NEEDS other options. Maybe he's a great writer and just hasn't realized it. Maybe he's a latent organic chemistry whiz. If he hasn't been focusing on his studies, then now would be the perfect time to start since he's laid up. To say "This in essence might finish things for him" isn't the correct outlook. His football career might be on hiatus, but that doesn't mean he's "finished". As they say, when one door closes another one opens. If his knee is blown out, his knee is blown out. That's already in the past. Look toward the future. Don't dwell on the implications of the injury.
  3. Its fairly obvious that I win
  4. Did anybody ever mention nude beaches in the "Things that are overrated" thread? I've been to a couple in France and 95% of the people have no business disrobing in public.
  5. Sorry for going off on a tangent, but this is what irk me the most about affirmative action. If you tell me, "Poor kids who grew up in crappy schools deserve a leg up", I'd be fine with it. I wouldn't necessarily AGREE, but I'd accept the opinion. When you change it to "Black kids deserve a leg up", then it becomes a racist. So a rich black kid is somehow disadvantaged, but a poor white kid from the inner city doesn't get jack? It should never be about race. If you want to legislate based on socioeconomic status, go ahead.
  6. The problem isn't the people who have doubts about the Bills' success this year. Heck, I try to be an optimist but if I had a gun to my head I'd probably predict a 7-9 record this year too. The PROBLEM is the folks who are myopically writing off the team this year before training camp even starts. Worse are the people who use crappy logic and won't listen to reason. I'm so sick of hearing "We brought in a guy to play center who's never even been a starter". First, he's started half of the games in which he's played. Second, even if that wasn't the case, how is that ANY logical indication that he sucks? In other words, I don't hate pessimists, I just hate the logical fallacies they seem to spew on a daily basis.
  7. In the words of Milhouse Van Houten, the world needs a clown.
  8. I certainly hope this is sarcastic...
  9. Why should there be outrage over that last story? Outrage over the results of a democratically held election? EDIT: Ok, I see the reactions you were talking about.
  10. She is Jessica Simpson and she is worth millions!
  11. The second part of your statement is correct. The first is not.
  12. That's probably what they said about Bledsoe before Brady got his shot. That's probably what they said about Trent Green before Warner got his shot. Don't pretend that you know what Fitzpatrick is capable of based on a small sample size.
  13. That one is going to be hard to beat.
  14. You're just jealous cause you can't find a greener oven mitt.
  15. Post a pic of the greenest oven mitt you can find. Let's see if we can decide on a concensus winner. Here's my submission... http://s.sears.com/is/image/Sears/048W236622110001
  16. That statement is largely true for most teams. On the majority of passing plays, there is somebody open. It's rare that you see film where each receiver has a DB stuck to him like glue. The question usually is "Does the quarterback have the vision to cycle through his reads, pick out the open receiver, and fire the ball with confidence?" The QB is not the end-all be-all of an offense, but he is often the difference in a close game.
  17. I'm in the same boat as you...I became a fan of the Bills around 1995 or 1996. Despite being a loyal fan, my greatest memories so far are only of inconsequential regular season wins. My only memories of the playoffs are horrible ones. 64 days from now, I want to watch the Bills drub the Patriots* like they did week 1 a few years back. Even if we aren't a playoff team yet again, at least I'll be able to remember the Bills punching the Pats* in the mouth week 1. That's all I ask. And even if it ain't to be, we shout our decree...let's go Buffalo. LET'S GO BUFFALO! LET'S GO BUFFALO!
  18. Words I did not think I would hear today... "The booklet does fold out to a poster of Abraham Lincoln as Shiva The Destroyer."
  19. The Chargers are not one year wonders. Sure, they got lucky by making the playoffs at 8-8, but it was their worst record since 2003. They are a consistently good team. Just haven't put it all together in the playoffs yet.
  20. You think that ESPN would dare to call him a bit rusty? No, you've got it all wrong. If they win he's the savior, if they lose it was despite the valiant effort by their fearless leader. You MIGHT hear the word "rusty" bandied about if Brady throws for less than 50 yards and more than 4 interceptions. Although in that case, you'd probably hear "Well, he just wasn't getting the breaks today. But let's watch the way he puts a perfect spiral on the football. Is Tom Brady back to form? Well, he answered that question today with a resounding "Yes!".
  21. Ok so Mort stinks...haven't we known that for quite a while?
  22. Except on Christmas morning, it's less likely that your day will end with you rocking and back and forth in the fetal position murmuring about wasted timeouts and missed field goals.
  23. Abso-freakin-lutely! I wake up at around 10, listen to some AC/DC, throw on my POZ jersey, buy me some nachos and salsa and head on over to my buddy's place for about 10 uninterrupted hours of football. Nothing like Sundays during NFL season. Nothing.
