Is this a 1 QB league? If so, you should try to trade Eli Manning. No point in having a top-15 QB stagnating on your bench if he'll only start on Donovan's bye week.

One month from today, we'll all wake up with that familiar feeling of excitement/doom...since it's a Monday, we'll all go about our normal days but won't REALLY be focused on anything but sitting our asses down in front of the TV at 7 o clock. One month.

Did I do the right thing?

Thanks for the comments everybody...I'm aware that $8 is pretty small potatoes in the shoplifting realm, but it's still a pretty tricky moral dilemma. -

Or I could just have my boss canned for going on 45 minute "cigarette breaks" on top of his 30 minute lunch, and frequently leaving a single customer service representative to run the store. -

Yeah, this is what I fear...a few minutes after the fact, I got the distinct impression that I was outsmarted by a punk kid. -

I didn't actually hear the conversation, as there were other customers waiting at the time and I was multi-tasking. He definitely talked to somebody, maybe he was just faking it like Fezmid thinks. In any case, he intimated that his parents weren't going to bail him out. -
So I'm working at Hollywood Video (among other jobs) to make some money this summer until classes start up and my on-campus job starts. The other day, this young kid (probably in the range of 11-13) ambles into the store and starts browsing the shelves. Now, the store is located right next to a skate park and we get a lot of kids this age so it didn't really raise any red flags, and the store was pretty busy so I wasn't paying much attention to him. About 5 minutes later, a dude from the video game store next to us catches the kid trying to walk off with about $8 worth of concession merchandise (a few things of candy and a soda), so the GameCrazy guy takes the kid back to our counter so that I can deal with him. He had already opened up the stuff that he tried to steal so I couldn't just put it back on the shelves. First, I tell him to call his parents and see if they'll come down and pay. He tries calling but neither one will help him out. Then, he asks me if he can pay for the stuff with food stamps and I tell him no. At this point, I don't have much recourse but to involve the authorities or just let him off the hook. Rather than complicate the situation further, I just paid for the food out of my wallet and sent him on his way with a stern warning about how we wouldn't be so forgiving the next time and that I'd better not see his face again in the store without an adult. So the kid leaves (without so much as saying thanks, by the way). At the time, seemed like the right thing to do but now I'm not so sure. I hate to think that I helped teach the kid that he can get away with this sort of things, and maybe he'd actually be better off getting caught stealing $8 worth of stuff before he grows up and tries armed robbery or something. Any thoughts on this? I'm a decent guy, and I like to think everybody deserves a second chance when it comes to such a petty crime, but maybe being a softie was the wrong decision here?

Jesus H Christ on a stick, a lot of posters on this board need to take a chill pill. As much as I missed Bills football, it's clear that some folks around here simply missed complaining about Bills football. It's the preseason, we could lose each game 100-0 and it wouldn't mean anything until 8:00 on September 14th. I get frustrated too, but how are you going to survive the regular season if you're having an aneurysm over week 1 of the preseason?
-
Well yeah, coaches deserve criticism if they don't get the job done. But the notion that Keith Ellison is a horrible football player and Jauron is just completely ignorant of this fact is ridiculous. If a guy like Alvin Bowen or Nic Harris legitimately gives us a better chance of winning, you can bet he'll be on the field. Jauron has been far from perfect but he's not an idiot.

You're surprised that the rookies were more pumped up in the preseason than the vets??? -

Of course, you conveniently ignore the fact that Dick knows the game of football 10 times better than even the most knowledgeable poster on this board.

No specific advice, but best of luck on this. I know that beating an addiction is a hell of a trying experience...but you've completed the first (and arguably most difficult) step by admitting your problem.

Yeah, we're good dude, I guess I got my panties all up in a bunch too.

I know you apologized later on so thanks, but you for this ok? Since you went out of your way to make so many personal attacks here, I should get to defend myself right? 1) My "summer vacation" has been spent in Ithaca, me paying my own rent by working 50 hours a week. 2) I'm joining the military as soon as I graduate, when I'll gladly get my limbs blown off for my country. 3) I wasn't trying to "educate" anybody, I was responding to J in M who foolishly said he would physically assault a person for demonstrating free speech. 4) I'm an embarrassment to Cornell because I disagree with you on some things and I'm headstrong in my opinions? you on that one too, buddy. 5) I am Arts and Sciences so I guess that's too bad for you. Senator, I'm fine with you. You're a good poster and a seemingly decent guy. But please, you should get to know somebody before you try to shove them into an overly generalized stereotype...isn't that something you learned with the "wisdom of your years"? Maybe when you were far above Cayuga's waters you fit that stereotype, but not me. Hey, I'm only 20, I admit I don't know everything. But judging a person (and their opinions) based ONLY on age is as bad as judging them solely on race, sex, or creed.

The men in question didn't die for the flag...they died for their country, and its values. Values like free speech and peaceful protest. I wouldn't personally burn a flag, but we live in a country where you can show dissent without repercussion. THAT is what they died for.

The poster doesn't even make sense, though. Joker in The Dark Knight was all about anarchy, which is the polar opposite of socialism. -
One more thing... I know I haven't been present for the entire training camp, but Mark Sanchez looked like an absolute wreck today. Might've just been a bad day, but he was panicking while he was trying to run through his reads and overthrowing guys by about 15 yards in some instances. My first impression is that he's at least a year away from being a competent starter. Of course, I'm no scout but he looked bad.
